Close up of the paint job on my phantom costume. Base coat of blue, then added the black over it, then added a shimmer and topped with a spray glitter and when the lights came on with his head piece it looked awesome. Really had a nice touch to it with the shimmer and glitter.

My son calls this his phantom costume, it was an old costume turned into something different. Mostly made the head piece. Plan to paint his face all cool on Halloween and will share those photos latter. Fingers crossed I can pull off a cool face painting for him.

My husbands Father's Day gift from my kids and I. He loves his cars and he loves his boys, so I dabble in some photography, been teaching myself slowly for a few years now. Well we were on a budget for a gift this year and trying to save funds since we were leaving town on the actual day to celebrate all his hard work he does to support us. So I had the idea to do a photo with my boys looking like they were working on a classic car, tried to find someone who could let me borrow a car for pics even for just a few mins, and no luck, but thankfully my oldest son reminded me of a museum close to home that had this car. I had to make it quick and hope we didn't get in trouble for ducking behind the guard rail thing. :} anyways, thankfully it was a weekday and a slow day for the museum and my kids cooperated for the most part. Snapped this photo and put it in black and white and fell in love. Well my husband loved it and its his favorite photo of the kids and says I should enter it into competitions or something. He has it as his wallpaper for his computer even. But for on a budget you can still do something so personal and so sweet for your man and if you know the right people to help you can ask them to snap some photos if needed. Just use a little imagination. :) best of luck!

So my sons second birthday was a last min party planned due to our lives not giving us a free moment to plan a proper party, so this is what I put together without having to buy anything, I put this together with things I had at home from other parties and craft items. So thankful I was able to pull something off for my baby boys golden party.
So I had balloons left over from our wedding, and the rest of the roll of brown paper from my middle sons Dino party I just rolled monster trucks into some black paint for a monster truck look, I printer off some checkered flag pattern and filled the sheet of paper to give a flag look, and did a simple triangle flag pattern for the happy bday banner. Threw some of my sons monster trucks on the table and voila a whipped together party. My 2yr old loved it so as long as he was happy thats all that mattered.

Homemade mummy costume.
Supplies:
-gauze
-some cheap white fabric
-cream colored long johns/thermals
-teabags
Steps:
1. Rip the white fabric into long strips, size and length can vary.
2. Age the gauze and ripped white fabric by soaking in a pot with tea water, i made used more tea than you would if you were making it to drink, there are many ways to aging fabric, if you need links Please feel free to request them and I will be sure to reply with them.
3. Instead of hanging to dry I threw the gauze and fabric into the dryer to speed up the process, you may have a stained dryer on the inside for a bit, but wasn't hard to clean out, and it heats the color into the fabric better. You are welcome to hang them up to dry also. (i prefer the dryer since it gives the gauze and fabric some wear from moving all around and tangled up to give it more of a natural look when untangled)
4. once dry and/or untangled I laid out my thermals on the floor to give myself an idea of how and where i wanted the pieces to be. note: it doesn't need to be perfect since your going for an aged mummy look. I then took my sewing machine and sewed a layer of gauze to cover the thermals from looking like thermals, be sure to not sew it wrapped tight or you wont be able to fit it. Then i hand sewn where needed and the ripped fabric, I did use the machine where I could and as much as I could, I did end up with tangled here and there, so you need to be careful.
Though I ended up with some stress from this project and snags with the machine, it was still worth it for how cool this costume turned out. To finish the look i wrapped his head with the aged gauze and fabric and his neck, and added some makeup to his eyes and tried to make his face pale also, would have been even better if he would have shaved, but oh well.
Still turned out pretty cool and had lots of people asking where we got the costume and was shocked when we told them I made it.
Let me know what you think or share your versions to inspire others. :)

Cake's I've made.
I'm not the greatest at decorating cakes, but this has been big progress from years before. Next week I am making a volcano cake for my son's dinosaur themed birthday. Watch for photos of the party and for party ideas. :)

The man bouquet/gift basket
So this was a Fathers Day gift I threw together for my dad from my children, my husband and myself. This was my version of the man bouquets you see on pinterest that has those mini liquor bottles, or cigars and things in them. My father's favorite thing to do is fish, so i bought a bunch of lures in bulk on Amazon.com for a more affordable price than if i went to those bigger stores like cabelas or something. i took some of that green plant foam from the craft stores, and filled the basket with that and then used kabob skewers and just used my hot glue gun to attach them to the skewers and arranged in a sort of flair way. leaning some of the items at the bottom against the skewers, and used the glue to secure them from falling over.
Since Hot glue gun glue is easy to peel off and most was on the packages, none of the lures were harmed when making this.
Any questions or ideas feel free to comment or ask. I have also considred doing this with some hand tools in a smaller version and items like that for your handy man type of guy.
Feel free to put your own spin on it.
