Homemade vanilla extract is easy and you can use it for so many things! You will notice a major improvement in flavor and cost!
Gather Vanilla beans, 80-proof alcohol, Glass jars or jars with tight seals & a funnel.
Take 5-6 vanilla beans (1/2 ounce total) split each bean in half. Scrape out the beans and put in jar and then pop the beans in the jar. Add the 8 ounces of alcohol. Twist on the lid, add a label with the date, shake and put in a cool dark space.
I shake mine once a day for about a month and then leave it alone for at least 6-12 months.
I made a batch now (July) so by December I can give away for holiday gifts. Make sure to shake it every once in awhile.
You can try different beans:
Madagascar Vanilla – very common and has a creamy and rich flavor
Mexican Vanilla – has a darker, almost smoky flavor
Tahitian Vanilla – also very common and has a rich floral flavor
Add the bean type to your label for an added touch. You can try adding different alcohol too! Have fun!!

Finished painting my mom's Christmas present, I'm so frickin thrilled with how it came out. Like the lines are so clean, it's so visually pleasing, I just keep looking at it. Paint is not my forte but I'm lucky the Colorado flag is simple haha. I'll be burning in the first name of each immediate family member, one name per letter, so no matter how far we roam, she still in a way has us all at home together.
Sign was about $4, paints were about $1.99 each (except white which I already had, pack of 25 brushes for $5, and the woodburning tool we got last year for like $15 I think.

I AM DEDICATED TO MY ART PROJECT (not even something impressive yet lol)
FIRST, I thoroughly washed and cleaned two rocks using tips from a rock collector’s website. (Dish soap & water and toothspaste work quite well)
and then I drew smiley faces on them. And I got pissed because my white liquid chalk pen has dried up and is just horrible
I used the yellow :,)
and as you can see, I am now using a freaking protractor to make little carrier boxes. The place I got this from was one of those tiktok tutorials which miss out how to fold everything and the measurements so I’m just using maths :,)
I will reblog with updates if I don’t forget and a finished result.
FOR MY FRIENDS‘ BIRTHDAY
when I could be reading instead.
kaylyn, macie, you better be grateful.
