“I’m sorry,” she says, eyes wide behind her glasses. “What ring?”
or: an amnesia au (with a twist).
guys. normally i don’t enjoy amnesia fics because they stress me out. but. THIS WAS SO GOOD! this is honestly the best rendition of buddie buying a ring fic. and the fact that despite losing his memories, eddie is still confident about his love for buck. and the twist is honest to god the best thing i’ve read in a hot sec. i am begging you to read this immediately! (there’s also some fantastic hen content and who doesn’t love hen??)

Buck slaps the back of his hand against Eddie’s chest. “I even carried Eddie here once.”
Eddie’s entire demeanor changes as he finds a way to get Buck to focus on him again. “That was the adrenaline.”
“Well, yeah,” Buck admits. “But I could do it now, too. Do you want me to prove it?”
That’s the flirtatious tone that was missing earlier, and Hen immediately pays closer attention. Eddie makes a sound that Hen has never heard him make, and it takes her a second to realize that it was a giggle. A giggle! If only she could record this shit for Chim and Karen.
“No,” he says, not very convincingly.

Hen spends three weeks watching Eddie make a fool of himself in front of Buck.
this was almost eight thousand words of pure fluff and me screaming reading this. i really enjoyed the outside perspective and how it’s eddie pining after buck, because normally it’s buck yearning for eddie. the outside pov from hen is really enjoyable because it allows for the reader to enjoy the buddie relationship without the added panic and angst of worrying that one of the characters doesn’t love the other back. basically, it’s perfect because the reader gets to enjoy the fluff and cuteness of a pining buddie. also there is some much deserved henren and karen content! i highly recommend!

Hi, I'm hoping you can help? Looking for a buddie fic takes place right after the lawsuit when Buck is back and everyone is still frosty. Buck asks for time off and Bobby has him take longer than he wanted as punishment so Buck decides to visit the ranch he worked at in Montana. His flight has a malfunction and goes down -no survivors. He actually misses his flight and gets a later one but is incorrectly listed as on the downed flight. Buck has turned off his phone wanting radio silence and so doesn't know about everyone believing he's dead until he returns a week later. Do you remember this fic by chance? I swear I bookmarked it but now I can't find it.

For all the times that Eddie has practiced getting into his turnout suit in record time, he never bothered figuring out how to get out of it just as fast. He would be regretting that if he could think about anything other than the fact that Buck went over the pier rail twenty-six seconds ago, and disappeared into the dark water seventeen seconds ago.
guyssss there are so many good lines that deserve to be quoted in this story and it’s less than 2k what?? @elisela you have truly outdone yourself! the panic that eddie feels in this (guess what its another whumpy piece! i warned you) is very easy to feel as the reader. not only that, but it seamlessly switches between hurt/comfort, fluff, and humor. @elisela MY HEART BELONGS TO YOU FOR WRITING THIS

The team discover an Instagram account based on what the public has overheard from their calls. Hen and Chim become amateur detectives in their quest to uncover the the context of every quote, but this becomes difficult when it's increasingly clear they've been left in the dark about something.
Based on the account @Overheard_LA and me deciding with all the insane things that the 118 say on calls, someone should be recording them for posterity.
this one made me unable to put my phone down until i had finished it because it was so freaking good! i really liked the concept because this seems like such a totally normal thing that would happen in the city of la. as the reader, you can start putting the clues together a little faster than the crew, but it is so fun to watch everything unfold. @fayevian on ao3 how did you know that this is genuinely one of my favorite tropes of all time and then proceed to write a piece that satisfied my every need?? also shout out to @bookaholic98 on ao3 for helping to make this a multi-media fic! there aren’t a ton of these fics out there, and the graphics blew me away.
(i highly highly recommend reading this on a computer so that you can see all of the visuals the way they were meant to be presented. however, if you can’t, no problem! it’s still totally understandable)

just warning you in advance, i’m a huuuuge sucker for some whump. this fic has the perfect additions to go along with it! it’s set post-lawsuit so there’s that animosity towards buck that transforms into realizing how guilty the team is and poorly the they had been treating buck. i’m going to be honest this one made my heart hurt and my eyes tear up because it’s so beautifully constructed. while the story discusses a poem buck’s reading, @onelonelytortillachip’s writing is essentially poetry itself. i know it’s a little bit of a longer read, but i can’t recommend it enough! go now. go. read it. it is so worth it!

this is genuinely one of my favorite fics i’ve read so far! i come back and reread it all the time. the story was inspired by a prompt written by @starlingbite, and @reallysmartladymariecurie made it truly come to life. it shows the developing connection that buck has with an unknown secret admirer. after buck bakes delicious treats for b shift, an unknown person leaves cute comments and notes on the empty containers. I literally grinned like an idiot reading this, and it made me binge all of the author’s works. DEFINITELY worth a read (or reread!)

"What did I miss?" Eddie whispers his question. He forgot his cell phone on the bus and had to make a run for it while everyone else was filing in.
Buck looks at him and is silent for a few seconds. "Just the creation of the universe," comes the reply at last.
"Oh, that. I didn't want any spoilers." Eddie can't think of anything else to say, because Buck's eyes are still on him, little sparkles of light reflected in them, and their thighs are pressed against each other, warm in the cool planetarium air.
Prompt fill. Buck and Eddie chaperone Christopher's class on a school trip and get to have a little date under the planetarium stars...
ok so this one is a huge shift from my last post, but it’s just as spectacular! this fic is literal sweetness, and much of that has to do with @matan4il’s writing style and subtle development of friends into lovers. (the last scene is perfection- trust me!) this is definitely a comfort story full of pure hearts and love. i can’t recommend enough! also... another beautiful cover artwork done by the lovely @ronordmann!

buck had been in tokyo for a week when he meets eddie diaz - the taekwondo wonder who'd taken the world by surprise with his shock qualification for the olympics. also, utterly fucking gorgeous, which was great.
ok here’s the first rec! this one i just read and FELL IN LOVE WITH! it is really good at following the canon universe events while still transforming the characters into an olympic setting. the roles given to them felt very natural and it made the read more enjoyable. also there’s some amazing fan art @like-the-rest-of-la made???? surreal
