Before Shu finds out...

When you first arrived to live at the Sakamaki residence, you expected a warm welcome. However, you soon found that those hopes you so enthusiastically built up of being welcomed with open arms were crushed by the unsettling and watershed realisation that vampires were real, and, well... you were now residing with six of them. It had seemed as though your fate had been laid out and handed to you on a bloodied, silver platter, hadn't it?

The Manor of which you now lived in, while outward appearances could fool even the most heedful and perceptive of people into believing it was nothing but a place of luxury and comfort, it was far from the truth in your set of circumstances. And by far, the most unwelcoming reception you had received so far was from none other than the eldest of the household - Shu Sakamaki. Shu wasn't known in the Manor for many things, but the traits he was known for indeed stuck out strikingly like a deer in headlights. Shu was lazy, perverted, apathetic... but also unpredictable. After a short while of settling into the reality that was now your permanent residence in the household, Shu eventually set his sights onto you. He was a bored and curious man, after all. Some could say, or rather he would say, that you brought it onto yourself. You wanted him to take notice of you. You were lonely and desperate for attention in this new environment, and so you set your sights on him, you lewd thing. And so, Shu obliged, with the false pretence of you that he had built up in his head so confidently. He'd wrap his arms around your waist while resting on the edge of your own bed, sinking his sharp fangs purposefully into your neck in a way that would provoke pure, unfiltered agony, all the while threatening you to not make a sound and disrupt his music... he would make it more painful for you otherwise. But you were a masochist, right? Oh? That noise that just slipped out from between those lips of yours? You did that on purpose, didn't you...

The thing about Shu is that the definition of boundaries was jaded for him. Inviting himself into your own private room without any warning was a good example of this. But what about looking up your skirt at school and commenting on what underwear you were wearing? He'd blame it on yourself, of course. You wanted him to see, didn't you? Why else would you have your skirt hiked up that high when you're around him? Dirty girl. What about when you were attending music class with him that time, and he teasingly began kissing and nibbling at your neck in front of everyone? Even the teacher noticed. But you liked that, didn't you? You liked how Shu gave you attention.

Above all, however, the quality of Shus that made you most on edge around him was by far how he constantly played hot and cold with you. He'd always be around you, touching you, teasing you. You might even be able to get some interesting and thought-provoking conversations out of him on a good day. But, what's this? He seemed like he was warming to you? That was silly of you to think, wasn't it? Now he was distancing himself from you, actively working to avoid you in every circumstance he found himself in with you and chastising you whenever you even attempted to talk to him. And it would be a repeat cycle. Shus feelings for you were complex, that much was obvious, but you could tell a certain amount of attraction towards you was there regardless of how many mixed signals he threw your way. This was nothing to celebrate or swoon over on your behalf, though. You found yourself even more high-strung upon coming to this realisation. Shu was unpredictable... but also dangerous. This is what kept your blood pumping with pure adrenaline and fear living with someone like him. Shu had never outwardly confessed his feelings to you, but by the way he acted, he seemed very much convinced that you must feel the same. You had to, right? Someone so lonely and as desperate as you had to cling to something. Humans were always grasping for something to give them meaning and worth, weren't they? To Shu, you were no exception to this rule.

When Shu finds out...

You became worn down over time, didn't you? You went from someone who fearfully but obediently went along with Shus antics with little to no outward complaints... to someone so hollow. You had become an empty shell; someone easy to discard and replace with another object of amusement. Shu began noticing your lack of reaction to his teasing comments, his cold and chilled touch, even his bite that once coaxed so many choked cries and pain. You had become... boring to him. Lacklustre and vacant. And with that, his affections for you dulled over time.

Perhaps his efforts to entertain himself, not only that but also his efforts to drag you into a world of adoration for him, maybe they were all ultimately pyrrhic. They had changed you, broken you, and morphed you beyond recognition into something so dull and empty that he could no longer find any pleasure in using you as he sees fit anymore. But, for once, a part of him blamed himself here. Look what happened with Edgar. The moment he tries to become close to someone, that whole world he built up with that person comes crashing down and disintegrates into nothingness. He had broken you. He had let his guard down ever so slightly, and it resulted in failure. He became distant from that point on. Far more distant than he had been previously towards you. Not a word could be heard escaping his lips. Not an ounce of attention was directed towards you from that moment on. Even your blood that once lured him in and hypnotised him like a drug no longer interested him. Maybe you could call this a victory? But could you really call it one now that your entire being had been splintered into nothing?

"This whole ordeal with you has been troublesome... don't bother me again unless you value your life."

Before Ruki finds out:

I'm sure living in the Mukami residence was parallel to occupying your own level of hell. Living in a constant state of fear and dread; all it took was one wrong turn of a corner, one wrong word, perhaps even one wrong breath... and it would all culminate to you being snatched away, teeth sinking into you slowly - more painful than the most caustic of poisons or sharpest of daggers. The Mukamis were relentlessly sadistic, reducing you to nothing but an abused bloodbag ripe for the drinking. I'm sure being debased and stripped of the very qualities that made you human was... hell, wasn't it? But what was worse than all of this? What, out of it all, sent shivers down your spine the most? What kept you up at night with shaking, laboured breaths? Well, it was the very vampire of which you shared a room with - Ruki Mukami.

Ruki was enamoured with you. You knew this, seeing past his sadistic, flat exterior. But this wasn't something sweet to savour, in fact, this was something you wished you could eradicate from your life entirely. The traditional chasing of a love interest was far different in the mind of a creature like him. Infatuation was dangerous. The main giveaway of all of this was possession. Ruki would force you to share a room with him, allowing him easy access to knowing your whereabouts. Ruki would bite down harder over time with more vitriol and purpose, marking you deeper and deeper, inside and out. The term "I love you inside and out" is funny, isn't it? Ruki had imprinted himself on you, your supple skin, your veins that would burst with crimson blood like an overflowing pipe whenever he punctured them. To Ruki, love was possession. The adoration of a person could mean a possible loss in the end - hurt, pain, heartbreak. Ruki didn't want to risk that at all. Therefore, it was as though you were bound to him, living your life as his was being lived.

Ruki could sense your apprehension. Well, in his mind, your fear of him translated to mere apprehension, anyway. He took note of your heart beating faster, your skin growing cold while decorating itself with goosebumps, your laboured breaths, and the taste of unfiltered fear and distress in your blood whenever he drank from you. Ruki thought of you as a masochist. You enjoyed being toyed with, right? Being his livestock was like luxury to you. You enjoyed, hell, you got off on your own fear of him, didn't you? But your apprehension towards him? Surely, that would pass. You'd embrace him eventually - you were bound to. You were such an obedient livestock for him, after all. But your obedience was purely for self-preservation. And so, when you found yourself one fateful night accompanying Ruki in the gardens of the Manor, you said yes to his proposal of being his partner. You wanted to stay alive. This was surely a sure-fire way of keeping yourself that way, despite your painful, harrowing existence that worn you down. You truly were determined, weren't you? The Mukamis hadn't broken you entirely, it seemed.

When Ruki finds out:

You admitted it. You actually admitted it. The Mukamis hadn't been kind to you - Ruki hadn't been kind to you, as much as he thought he was being. The soft hugs you received as he slowly drifted to sleep, they kept you awake with nervousness and trepidation. The "I love you"s that escaped his lips left you with nothing but a hollow pit in your stomach as you forced a smile and an "I love you too". But behind it all, he wasn't much of a changed man. His grip was still possessive. His eyes were never wavering from your whereabouts. His teeth still stung as they ripped into your flesh without much apology or reasoning. This place, and this "relationship", had completely drained you of the person you once was entirely. Your happiness, your heart, your passion, your energy... your self-preservation.

So you cracked, didn't you? You blurted out to Ruki during a heated exchange that your love towards him was nothing but an act; a facade to keep you alive and as out of danger as possible. But did you consider how he would take that? To call you foolish would be heartless, especially after what you had been through. You at least deserve some compassion. You've lacked so much of it through all of this... you poor thing.

Ruki wasn't one to take pity, however. He had still been taking note of that... apprehension that he so plainly labelled your fear as. He thought it would just be a phase. He thought it would pass with time, and you would embrace him wholeheartedly. He loved you, so, shouldn't you love him too? He was a higher being than you, a mere human; you should be honoured to be considered as an equal in his eyes. But for what? For this? Were his efforts all for nothing and fruitless? He was insulted. Despite every measure he had taken to secure happiness with you, you had still managed to seep your way into his heart and poison it with your rejection. This was all your fault in this scenario. And what would you have him do? Keep you alive after all you've put him through? Well, unfortunately for you, in Rukis mind, humans are replacable. Livestock. Bloodbags. There are so many of them, after all. Would it really be much of a detriment to his existence if you were to... disappear?

"You deceptive woman. You toy with my heart after all I have given you? Livestock as defiant as you should be... put to the slaughter."

Nightmare of Love

Subaru looked at the tower infront of him. He could hear a shrill scream coming from the tower. He moved towards the tower with heavy steps. If he wanted he could easily teleport inside but he didn't because he was preparing himself for what was about to come.

As Subaru continued to move upstairs he noticed that the scream had died down. He then continued his small journey towards the room. He sighed to prepare himself from the emotional trauma that was about to come.

He opened the door to see her. He noticed that the maid whom he had hired to monitor Yui was glaring at her but her gaze changed as soon as she saw subaru. Yui was sitting on the floor, her back leaned against bed for support. She had pulled her legs towards her chest. Her face buried in between them. She looked frail with her white night gown on her. Her fragile form was something that had always worried Subaru for her safety.

"Yui." Subaru mumbled lightly.

Yui upon hearing her name immediately looked up as soon as her gaze fell on Subaru her eyes went lost, her eyes lost her shine as soon as she saw him.

Subaru raised his eyebrow as he noticed a slit on Yui's lip dried blood was still present on corner of her mouth. He felt anger and rage in his chest, his angry gaze immediately fell on the maid he hired to protect Yui.

"How do you explain this?!?" He said as he frowned and moved toward the maid.

"W-what?.. " The maid immediately backed away upon hearing his angry growl. Yui watched the scene unfolding infront of her with dead eyes there wasn't any emotion on her face. She then started looking at the carpet trying to ignore the angry shouts of Subaru.

"What do you mean by 'What' ?! You are supposed to protect her?! Why is her lip broken?!!"

Subaru said as he angrily moved toward the shivering maid whom was backing away. He immediately cornered her on the wall his fist slamming right beside her head. The maid eyes rolled in fear as she for a moment thought he would punch her skull in wall.

"Hah?! You are abusing her?! I hired you to protect her and to take care of her. How dare you try to hit her?! Who the fuck do you think you are to hurt her?! "

Subaru said as he punched another hole on wall. The maid at this point was crying and was on her feet.

" I-I.... She... Wasn't listening to me so in anger I-I-- Subaru-sama... Please!! Ahhhhh!!"

The maid gave a shrill scream as she was lifted by her hair. Subaru rougly gripped her hair, he pulled her hair so hard as if he was trying to tear her skull through her hair.

"Hahah? Do you really think I would let that slide?! HOW DARE YOU I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU!?! "

Subaru threw her on floor before the maid could escape he stepped on her hand. The maid screams increased as she felt her hand being crushed.

Yui who was quite throughout the whole scene also was now scared her fear increased as she watched the scene in horror her eyes whom were empty were now filled with fear for her as well as for maids safety. As much as the maid hitted and scolded her, she doesn't want this to happen to the maid.

Eventhough she was feeling sympathy she still remained quite in fear of shifting Subaru anger to her. As Subaru continued to put pressure on maid hand an ugly crack was heard that caused maid to give a powerful scream. Yui yelped in fear her heart started beating fast as fear gripped her heart her breathing shortened.

Subaru upon noticing the increase in Yui's heart beat immediately looked at her. His eyes filled with anger became gentler his face started showing gentleness. He felt disgust of himself as he saw fear and anxiety in Yui's eyes, her big pink eyes were filled with fear... Fear of him. He felt his heart giving a powerful twist.

"Tch."

He said before stepping away he ruffled his hair. It was as if looking into Yui's eyes stopped him from doing horror to the maid. Her eyes made him gentler. He stood there for sometime he doesn't want her to fear him. She is his love, his life, his everything and the last thing he want is for her to fear him, to be scared of him. His eyes then went from Yui towards the maid who was begging for forgiveness.

He then grabbed her by her shoulder and yanked her roughly towards him.

"Stop fucking crying!! You?! You know I am not the one who you should apologize to?! "

He throwed her towards Yui. The maid immediately apologized to Yui. She started begging her. Yui's eyes widened for a moment as she backed away from the mad maid whom was clinging to her. Yui then tried to console maid. After some time of her constantly asking for forgiveness Subaru spoke up.

"Get out.... leave us alone. "Subaru said but it was clear he was telling the maid to leave."

Yui felt fear as soon as she heard his words this means her turn is next? She doesn't want to be alone with him after what she had witnessed. The maid didn't hesitate to leave Yui and ran out of the door.

Subaru looked at the fleeing maid she is going to die tonight he had already decided if it wasn't for Yui being present she would be dead by now. He then coughed awkwardly as his gaze met with Yui.

He then slowly moved towards her not wanting to scare her with his towering frame.

"Yui.. "

He said gently as he sat beside her on the floor. Yui tried to move away only to be stopped as Subaru grabbed her. His grip on her arm firm yet gentle.

"Don't! .... I won't hurt you... Yui, I will never ever hurt you. You... I love you and you can't hurt someone whom you love. Right? "

Yui didn't answer him instead turned her face away from him. She closed her eyes as some unwanted memory crepped up. She sighed trying to push thoes thoughts away trying to calm her herself. She felt like crying. She choked to stop herself. She was scared... Scared to see Subaru like that she wanted to run but she felt scared to do so.

Yui didn't realize as tears start pouring out of her eyes sliding down her cheek. Subaru frowned at her. He pulled her toward himself to hug her hoping it will ease her as Yui started bawling in his chest.

"Shhh! Calm down... I will never hurt you... Yui... I won't. I love you so much. I love you too much--"

"Stop it!! Shut up don't! Don't say that?! Pleaseee!! "Yui chocked the words out as her crying increased.

"Yui... Seeing you, Feeling you calms me I can't--You are my cure! My fucking cure! I can't stop it--"

"Stop! Subaru stop killing everyone don't kill anyone... If you loved me why are you doing this?! Why are you making me like your mother?! Subaru please let me out! These walls are killing me! Don't lock me here... I am going crazy... I will surely die here please--"

"SHUT UP!"

Subaru said aggressively as he hugged her tighter. Yui started beating his chest but he still remained indifferent to her struggle.

"You not okay... You definetely are not. Can't you freacking see I am trying to protect you... I don't want to lose you?! Your mine! Only mine! Your mine to own understand?!? "

Subaru said as he crazily looked at Yui whom was still struggling against him. His eyes were filled with madness. His mind was filled with dark thoughts. He wants to monopolise her can't she understand?! He is protecting her from getting like his mother. He can only protect her by keeping her somewhere safe and there is no place that is more safe than this tower whoes key was owned by him! The tower that is only reserved for his eyes and no one is the safest option for Yui.

"Subaru... Please... Please I am tired of being locked up here I... I am not like your mom... No one wants to hurt me please... "

Yui chocked her words out of her throat. She wants to make him understand. She doesn't want to be here!

"You look so cute while struggling Yui."

Subaru said as he laughed lightly moving Yui's hair away from her face cupping her wet cheek his thumb caressing her swollen lip.

"I will do whatever the fuck I want. I just want us to be happy... Is it really that much hard to understand? Is it that hard to obey me Yui? To love me? Don't make me hurt you... "

Subaru said before joining his lips to her bloodied lips. Yui muffled as Subaru grabbed her jaw to keep her in place.

"You don't even have slightest idea what you do to here? Do you? When you love something you want to protect it and that's what I am doing Yui... "

He said before getting up and going toward door. Yui immediately started chasing him, screaming at him. He pushed her lightly inside the door and locked the door. The banging on the door continued but he ignored it.

How do you feel about Lost Eden? It feels like it's the most controversial game in the series.

Personally I think it did a lot of the characters dirty after all the progress they made in Dark Fate and it will never not make me sad how much of a bystander Yui is in it. Isn't she supposed to be the heroine 😭

same 😭! they ruined the whole character development that all the boys went through in just one game. it was so hard to read some routes especially how Yui was treated. when I started reading Reiji's route, the way he was so rude to her (not how he usually is) like she is just supposed to be a bystander???? most of the time it just felt like, they were like "I'll deal with this, you just need to stay behind me/ or stay in the dark"

another being Carla's route, the whole point of his DF character development and catching feelings were based on how he admired Yui's head on personality, braveness, not giving up, staying with him side by side and supporting him like an equal, but in LE he is like "you don't need to do anything and just stay behind me and enjoy my protection" like i understand that during some dangerous situations she needs to be protected but not letting her do anything and just be a supporting character 😭–

even Shin's character was downgraded, like he is so intelligent by the end of Carla's route but in his own route... he wasn't that bad in DF. yes he is impulsive, but still not dumb. at first I understood his point of view, as someone who was spoiled by his clan for the high status and having huge pride which was hurt because of losing an eye to only find out he isn't one (misunderstanding) especially how he looks up to his older brother, which he cannot anymore. I think one of the reasons why Shin wasn't able to act was because he remembers how Carla bowed his head down in front of the sub clan for him. but Yui was kept in dark here too, like 😭

there are more things, but LE is the only game whose routes I have read a long time ago and also either half or only once, so i cannot say everything about each character.

yup in other words, LE was messed up, this is also one of the reasons why it's hard for me to accept canon facts based on LE. idk what got into them, but LE went down horribly, that's why I think CL was made making Kino still a new character to be introduced. CL was way better than LE.

You might've answered similar questions before so do feel free to ignore this, but what exactly is it about Rukiyui that in your eyes makes them a better match than the other ships?

I wholeheartedly agree with you btw on them being the best couple so really this is just me wanting to gain some insight into what drew others toward this specific pairing and if our reasons for it are similar.

Awww thank you so much dear Anon. I didn't want to say about my writing project because it's out of DL and it's gonna be a real book in my country but I was too excited about it and I wanted to share my happiness with people here 😄.

And yes I answered this question before and made a very long post to explain why Rukiyui is special in my eyes. You can check that post here. In this post, I will summarize the same reasons and my new reasons.

1_ Yui can make Ruki break his guard and stop being a heartless man and say I love you to Yui.

2_ Ruki is willing to betray Karlheinz, the person he respects the most, for Yui's sake.

3_ Ruki's nickname for Yui was changed from livestock to Angel.

4_ Ruki cried because of Yui's letter. Something that is never expected from a man with Ruki's type.

5_ Ruki and Yui are a normal couple when they are together. Not Adam and Eve. They are actually free. An ordinary couple. This is what I like.

6_ I have the same type as Ruki and everyone knows how much I love Yui. People with my type need a partner with the spirit of a kind girl like Yui. This is not a joke and I am completely serious. Because I have the same type as Ruki, I understand him well and I can understand how much he needs someone like Yui in his life. I myself sometimes wished that Yui was real and we were together in real life.
