Ok I’ve seen people arguing about this and I don’t understand because it is absolutely, irrefutably canon that Nesta is the most powerful character in ACOTAR. Like I personally don’t even care if she is, it’s not what I like about her. I’m not saying this as a stan. It’s literally just a fact. Rhys says it himself when she has her nightmare. He’s the most powerful high lord and he cannot overpower her magic unless Cassian distracts her. He is afraid of it. Not to mention she controls the trove and it seems to just come a running whenever she even thinks of it to raise armies of the dead and put a bitch in their place. She Makes death swords. She yeets True Immortals and Asteri out of existence like it’s a game. She’s the only one of the 3 most powerful creatures in the series who hasn’t had to be brought back from the dead (twice…). Home girl stopped space and time and rewound death. Like …that’s Lady Death ya’ll idk what to tell you …

“Reid was so mean to Emily in the beginning” let’s explore that

The first thing we need to make clear is that him and Emily got along perfectly fine before the Hankel incident. Bear is mind the ‘physics magic’ incident between them was at the very beginning of Prentiss’ introduction to the team and they were frequently paired together and it seemed like they were genuinely becoming friends. He actually seemed to really like Emily in the beginning

Then Hankel happens and Reid is different; he is not only traumatised but he is also addicted to narcotics at this point and when he isn’t high, he is going through withdrawal. So why did Emily deal with the brunt of his attitude?

One reason is that Emily was in the firing line because she simply tried to exist with him whilst the others didn’t. This isn’t me blaming Emily whatsoever, in fact her efforts to try and bring him back to normal were amazing. But because she was pretty much the only one on the team engaging with him and not actively avoiding him like he’s the plague, it meant she had more chance to annoy him and he had more chance to snap at her

Another reason could be that he resented her. Emily was quite a happy person in season 2 and it seemed that he resented when she was cheerful because he was only 25 and had had his innocence regarding the job stripped away from him, and every joke she cracked or every display of enthusiasm was a reminder that he wasn’t that person anymore

She was him just a few months prior; intelligent, enthusiastic talkative and valued by the team. At this point he had been written off as just a traumatised, moody addict who the team avoided because confronting his issues would actually make it real for them. She reminded him that his job used to be good

I love the team but they messed up regarding Reid and Emily was the only one who tried for him but she was sadly the one who triggered him the most

Now let’s look post-drug use. Emily and Reid sort of become clutches for eachother and it was amazing to watch. Whilst they were not always given screen time centred around them (apart from season 4 episode 3 when they’re held hostage together), we often saw them sat together and making faces at eachother (I.e. smirking at eachother when Morgan does something or giving eachother a look when something goes wrong.) They sought eachother out and were sort of eachother’s anchor in the room; a person that they could turn to and communicate with just a look. The fact that they could become so close despite being so distant from eachother just months before shows how it was nothing either of them did wrong in the beginning; it was just awful circumstances that pit them against eachother

and I was just thinking about how Az is probably a good dancer which surprised Nesta and both of them were probably joking about how bad cassian is. Then Az feeling comfortable enough to have nesta hold his scarred hands knowing she won’t judge or care and I think that’s really beautiful… and Az probably saw a different side to nesta (the caring thoughtful side) and then preceded to give her a winter solstice gift

so im very much aware how everyone on the team has been thru some shit, but EMILY HAS BEEN THRU SO MUCH IT HURTS MY HEART. she got pregnant at 15, got an abortion, lost her best friend she'd had since she was a kid, lost one of her old friends she'd had when she worked at Interpol, had to pretend to fall in love with a criminal just for that criminal to come back and try to kill her, who also literally BURNT her chest might i add, oh and yk stabbed her with a table leg right in the stomach, she had to fake her death and hide in paris so nobody would find her, she was taken by scratch and was made to believe she was literally being tortured.

not to mention all the times she got beaten up/hurt during cases

but that's all totally normal right???
