Who Treated Tommy Jarvis?
In the Friday the 13th franchise Tommy Jarvis is an important character in three films, parts 4, 5, and 6.
Between 4: Final Chapter and 5: New Beginnings Tommy was receiving some serious psychiatric treatment - I think it was about 5 years, from 1984 to 1989. In that time Tommy went from boisterous, extroverted, confident, artist to a near silent, martial artist. Ok.
But then! In part 6: Jason Lives, only a year later (I think it's 1990 now), his personality is similar to what it was before.
OK I suggest his psychiatrist was the one and only Dr. Sam Loomis! This Doctor is totally unhinged and has a bad record of messing up his patients.

Maybe Jesse Was Always Freddy...
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge is my favorite entry in the Nightmare entry. It is queer as hell and I love it.
But, it got me thinking. (To be clear this doesn't hold up, it's just a fun headcanon).
What if Jesse IS Freddy and this whole entry is taking place in Freddy's psyche? This is Freddy's Nightmare!, his own backstory.

Hammer bros?
Fix-it-Felix is to Wreck-it-Ralph as Thor is to Loki.
Destructive outcast paired with 'perfect' hammer wielding brother who everyone loves, because the 'good guy' needs someone to destroy things so he can be a hero. He's (Ralph/Loki) not bad, he's just drawn that way.

When did Loki read TS Eliot
So Loki quotes a poem by T.S. Eliot in the last episode of Loki.
Tumblr media
And I'm left here wondering, when did Loki read T.S. Eliot?
Did he do it while studying mechanics, physics, and engineering at the TVA or before while he was on Asgard? Like, no, really, when?
And is he a fan of Midgardian poets? Are there not Asgardian poets he could have quoted? I really wanna know!

The Loki Show
I can't stop thinking about how the God of Mischief's entire 1,000+ years of life was a lie (up to Thor 2011). Imagine learning your parents took you from another planet who they were at war with. Your family, your species, your literal appearance is all a fabrication. Nothing is what you thought it was.
Worse still you were brought up on horror stories about your true people, even your true birth father. That's bound to make even the most sane, well adjusted, person snap.
Odin really was like Ed Harris' character in The Truman Show. Manipulative!

Loki and the true power grab...
Loki really does just go around finding the nearest silver haired fox in power and 'endears' his way to a power position... ;)
You might say Loki is That Girl(tm) with daddy issues - looking for a better zaddy to accommodate his crippling self-doubt, loneliness, and abandonment issues. Good for him.

Loki's Eternal Descent
Remember in Thor: Ragnarok when Dr. Strange let Loki fall for a 30 minute sustained drop.... Do you think that triggered his memory of the drop into space from the Bifrost (from the first Thor film)?
How long did he fall then? Probably for a while before landing on Sanctuary where really who knows what happened there. Probably nothing fun or safe as the name would imply.
And everyone just continues to ignore his pain and ill treatment. Idk I just want this lil ice runt to get his dues... his dues being actual happiness.

Was It A Happy Ending Though?
So I saw this post about Loki + Odin... and I made an edit of my own. Regardless of character, I totally agree. It goes back to Robin Wood said: "the 'happy ending' (when it exists) typically signif(ies) the restoration of repression."
Tumblr media
it also occurs to Loki and Jobu Tupaki had a lot in common. Huh.

Long, Cruel, Women in a Black Dress!
These Goth Goddesses made decades of Goths and Gays who they are. They are idols, legends, monsters, and queens!
Tumblr media
On a side, does it bother anyone else when the 'Bride' is shown in a romantic relationship with the 'Monster'? She clearly rejected him.... so he killed her and himself (obviously I'm over simplifying James Whale's 1935 film). Let this woman be independent! Free the Bride!
I also wish I had a better name for her than 'Bride', because I really want the titular Bride to refer to Frankenstein's wife, Elizabeth.
Bride of Re-Animator kinda did this story better than James Whale though... for me.
Tumblr media
I'm so glad all these other women got to be strong, independent, sexual, intelligent, beings. We've come a long way. But we need a modern lil goth god for the now times.
Someone post Hex Girls and Emily the Strange.
Who will rise up!?!?

Loki and the various Dictators
Ever notice Loki just keeps running into dictators.
He is the abandoned son of Laufey, stolen and raised by Odin... more or less.
He literally falls into Thanos' hands... and really... what happened there?
THEN (going in film order) fastforwarding a bit he falls again, this time to Sakaar and the Grandmaster. They totally had orgies... nice.
OR (alt ending) he is taken by the TVA to the hands of He Who Remains, the Conqueror himself.
Like, dude can not catch a break.

Horror is Queer
Horror has always had queer creators behind and infront of it.
Tumblr media
F.W. Murnau directed Nosferatu (1922)
James Whale directed Frankenstein (1931), The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), The Invisible Man (1933), The Old Dark House (1932).
Clive Barker is a well known horror writer, I know Stephen King isn't the only one shocking. He's also directed some of his own work, notably, Hellraiser (1987), Nightbreed (1990), and Lord of Illusions (1995).
Kevin Williamson is the creator of Dawson's Creek, as well as, the screenwriter of Scream (1996), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), The Faculty (1998), and Sick (2022). He also did a treatment for and produced Halloween: H20 (1998).
Don Mancini is responsible for the Child's Play/Chucky franchise. He also wrote the screenplay for Dweller Celler (1998).
Eliva is a goth, camp, queen, ICON! She's a horror host, and lifestyle.
Christopher Landon wrote the screenplays for Disturbia (2007), Paranormal Activity 2, 3, 4, Next of Kin, and the Marked Ones which he also directed. He wrote and directed Scouts Guide to Zombie Apocalypse (2015), Happy Death Day (2017) and it's sequel (2019), Freaky (2020), oh and he's slated to direct Scream 7!
Bryan Fuller was the showrunner of NBC's Hannibal and is now working on the Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake.
Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstien.
Daphne Du Maurier wrote Rebecca and a short story that would become The Birds. Hitchcock was clearly a fan.
Joel Schumacher directed The Lost Boys. Meanwhile Tom Holland made Fright Night which might be the queerest vampire movie ever made... huh.
Gus Van Sant... well he directed the Psycho remake... so that happened...
Carter Smith directed Ruins (2008), Swallowed (2022), The Passenger (2023), and a few others. OH and Swallowed has Mark Patton from Nightmare On Elm Street II: Freddy's Revenge.
I'm sure I missed some.
Then you get into some phenomenal actors...

Is Adam Groff just an Introvert?
When it comes to film/tv there is a phrase: show, don't tell.
But, when a story is heavily influenced on character rather than being plot driven, dialogue is wildly important. This is the case with Sex Education.
Sex Educations - I'm focusing on season 3 - really wants to tell us that Ada Groff has internalized homophobia and is having a hard time coming to terms with being bisexual and coming it. But... I really feel like that isn't what they showed us. They showed us the poor dude is just a shy introvert (and possibly coded as neurodivergent - that's another post).
Adam and Eric came back to Adam's to find his mom Maureen with a man (who's name I don't recall). Adam introduces Eric as his friend which seems to hurt Eric. OK. so I grew up with a parent who dated and sometimes had flings. I would NEVER come out to some rando my mom was seeing. I probably wouldn't even talk to them... just wave awkwardly and go to my room. In terms of social etiquette it would be SO weird to just come out to said rando. That has nothing to do with how queer or comfortable Adam is. At. All.
When Eric returns home - from his visit to his Aunt's where he cheated on Adam which is never addressed at all in s4 but whatever that actor is charismatic AF so who cares in the character is a little sh*t -.- moving on - he asks Adam to go to a club with him. Adam seems reluctant.
Right... we've seen him crash Aimee's party in s1, sit in a corner at a dance in s2, sit outside a party in s2... this kid is always off to the side or outside... always by himself in the quiet. I don't think a party let alone a loud club is a place Adam would want to go to... period. It (again) has nothing to do with how comfortable he is with his queerness.
BUT everything Adam does that Eric doesn't like must mean that he's still not "out enough" whatever that means.
Really their relationship did not read in terms of behavior as a couple who are splitting because one is totally out and one is still kinda in the closet. It read as an extrovert and an introvert who just aren't meant to be.
Eric in s3 was just so gatekeepy regarding queerness...
*I am about to go off on a unrelated tangent*
But Adam in s4 was just SO DAMN poorly done. His entire storyline is separate except for one ep... which kind of didn't make sense for him to be in because we haven't seen him interact with Aimee since they broke up in s1.
They did the most stereotypical thing and had the bi guy start off with a chick, realize he's also into dudes, then get with another chick. THIS BOY NEEDS A FRIEND! But they wrote off Rahim and Ola... and eh didn't hang out with Ruby who also clearly needed a friend.
And guess we're pretending he didn't have a whole storyline in s3 about trying better in school... and also that awesome English teacher wouldn't notice he probably is dyslexic...
I got off topic. This is just bothering me.
