The thing with the bear
Reconnaissance had to be done thoroughly. Scouts were dispatched to survey the situation and place initial camps.
The Herald with escort was to follow swiftly. So it was a matter of selecting companions.
Did they need strength or accuracy? Was magic needed or were a few sharp blades enough?
Lord Trevelyan was a quiet man, reserved, perhaps even shy, but he knew how to proceed diplomatically to reach a goal.
Sera and Varric were extremely pleasant and congenial contemporaries. The perky blonde had some fantastic tricks up her sleeve and Bianca... well, anyone who had seen her in action once knew why Varric was so popular.
Cole was also capable of multiple levels. Bows were beyond him, but he could handle daggers like few others.
The choice was really difficult.
And what about defenders? Bull was definitely the strongest and he felt no fear nor was he intimidated by anything. Warden Blackwall was like a big brother for the Herald, he liked the brave fighter a lot. And Cassandra... well, there was nothing to say against her - she was definitely one of Trevelyan's closest confidants.
The use of magic was undeniably always special, especially for the Herald, since he had no magical abilities himself. He was thrilled how natural and pure Solas and Vivienne used their arts. Both in their own special way, unique and yet in harmony with mind and body. Vivienne was a real lady, she could still hold her own. And Solas was a mixture of mysterious stranger and best buddy, Trevelyan trusted him blindly. There was also this charming gentleman from the far north, Dorian by name. An all-rounder in magic, stamina, ambition and apt spells. The Herald was extremely interested in Lord Pavus... not only in the skills he offered to the Inquisition, but also in the person himself. Trevelyan felt young and carefree around Dorian, he didn't know why....
So who would ultimately accompany the Herald now? The agony of choice was up to Trevelyan himself. Everything in him resisted putting these capable and kind souls in danger, but they had all chosen their own fate, conscious or unconscious of the dangers.
It meant being on the road for a long time, mostly on cobblestones. Sleeping in tents, no hot water, dangers behind every hill.
And then the choice was made: Cassandra, Sera and Dorian. Endurance was needed. There was a lot of walking and uphill. A real climbing route, so to speak. Sera was fit as a fiddle. Cassandra was tough. Dorian's muscles were best proof of his condition. And Trevelyan loved nature and climbing. To him, the trip sounded very pleasant.
"Bears? Oh by the Maker! Really?" Trevelyan asked again.
"Are you afraid, your Highness?" A cheeky yet friendly wink followed Scout Harding's question.
"Afraid? I'd love to cuddle the little animals. Bears are so cute. But all kidding aside... I'd like to be allowed to look at them from a distance at most... tehehe" the Herald chuckled.
The way to the camp was pretty easy to be honest. The scouts had found a perfect route, the camp was somewhat hidden and everything was prepared.
Tomorrow morning, at first morning light, they should be on their way.
Sera sat by the campfire and surveyed her bow as the Herald passed.
"A truly magnificent bow, Sera. Good workmanship and a strong string. A brilliant choice."
"Thank the noble bozo who... let's put it this way... "FORGOT" about it at the time, your Materiality." Laughed the little blonde mischievously.
Trevelyan chuckled, but said nothing more.
"Do you know how to use a bow and arrow as well?" Came a sudden question out of nowhere.
Lord Pavus stroked his beard and strutted over to the two people from one of the tents.
He stopped and put his hands on his hips.
"And, Milord? Can you?"
The Herald nodded but remained silent.
"Ranged attacks from a safe distance are often, if not always, the better choice when aiming to survive." Said the young man with the dapper mustache, winking at Sera.
"I like daggers just a little bit more than arrows. I like the way they fit in the hand, how flawlessly perfect the blade is crafted, how beautiful the masterful decorations are. And I need to be and stay fast and agile. As the saying goes, you snooze, you lose."
Trevelyan had pulled one of his daggers from its holster behind his back and was waving it back and forth a bit.
"Well then, I see you like to work with your hands, this is commendable. Still, the greater risk of melee attack remains. It seems to me that you love danger and challenge. Or do you like to get up close and personal, Milord?"
Pavus' words were soft as velvet, yet also with a bit of a cheeky and saucy undertone.
"Sometimes the other person doesn't even realize what just happened if you were quick enough..." And again Trevelyan winked.
"Oh heavens, that can only come out of a man's mouth... fast and almost unnoticed... pfff" Sera had a fit of laughter.
The two gentlemen just shook their heads, but refrained from any opposition.
Very early in the morning a scout then called for departure. Only the Herald, Sera, Dorian and Cassandra, and two scouts were to take the first step into unknown territory today.
Uncertain terrain with many stumbling blocks was to be expected, one had to really climb here and there to get ahead.
But Sera was agile and Dorian and Cassandra had a lot of strength in their arms and legs. The Herald was really enjoying the climbing, but he had to stay serious and focused.
"Over there, we have a good spot to get some perspective. Lord Trevelyan, follow me." Shouted Lady Pentaghast and dashed ahead.
Everyone followed, the path was slippery and extreme caution was required.
At the top, everyone was a bit out of breath, but the view was truly impressive.
"Ha, there's a group of your cuddly furry friends over there, your Highanxietyness!" Sera exclaimed, giggling.
"But these are not full grown animals, the mother animal is missing." Opined Cassandra in response.
"...Who needs mothers..."
"What did you say, Lord Pavus?" Asked Trevelyan.
"Nothing, Milord." Dorian's answer was curt, but the Herald did not want to probe further, they had other problems.
The scouts crept cautiously around the area. They listened, but heard no cracking or growling.
"We can't find anything, your Highness. We would need something that would lure the mother animal out of cover, but not necessarily attack it." Reported one of the two scouts.
"Magic."
"Excuse me?" The Herald asked his companion.
"We need a little pinch of magic. From a safe distance for us, the baby bears and the parent. No one gets hurt and we know how to skillfully and safely get out of the way. Watch out!"
Lord Pavus spun around...no, it was more like a dancing motion. Then suddenly his beautifully crafted staff lit up and a flash of light hissed skyward.
It was almost as if some kind of sound could be heard as the mysterious concentrated energy left the mage, reached his staff and bundled out of the glowing tip. This unreal sound, which could be felt rather than heard, was followed by a bright, yet not unpleasant light. Truly, magic was special, a gift from the Maker.
"Awesome! That was impressive!" The Herald opined in awe.
"Magic is a pretzel to me! I'm out..." Replied Sera, shrugging her shoulders.
"Did the staff get warm? Can I touch it?"
Trevelyan stood behind Dorian and raised his hand to reach for the staff.
Without turning fully around, Dorian answered the Herald over his shoulder with a curt, "No."
"But..."
"No." Friendly but emphatic came the second no, and Lord Pavus walked over to Cassandra, who was already on the lookout to see if the mother animal was anywhere to be spotted.
Sera stood next to the Herald and nudged him in the side with her elbow: "Nice try, but unfortunately for nothing, your Holimolyness! But if you like, I'll "BORROW" Dorian's staff as soon as he's asleep and then you can examine it at your leisure... hehehe"
"Thank you, but no thank you, dearest Sera." Winked Trevelyan and made his way over to his companions.

The Carpet Dealer's Son
(A discreetly "lemon", New-German fairytale)
Tumblr media
...in Musterstadt, a Persian family lived there for generations. They had a long-established carpet business, were known throughout the country and were held in high esteem by the community.
Now it happened that after many years of hoping and worrying, the Pavus family was given a son. At last a progenitor, heir and successor was born. The parents rejoiced, especially the father, since daughters were a blessing, but sons meant the future.
The little rascal grew up splendidly. His silver-grey eyes became prettier with each passing year and looked ever more curiously into the world.
He went to school, was a clever boy, but he often got into trouble. He had few friends, but the ones he had meant everything to him.
And so life in Musterstadt took its course. Dorian had become a breathtakingly beautiful man. His silky, shiny dark hair and distinctive dark complexion contrasted so intriguingly with his bright eyes that he was a pure joy to look at. He loved to sing and discuss and this trained his voice to such an extent that people got goosebumps when they heard him speak, so clear and intelligible, gentle and masculine was his timbre.
Yes, Dorian was a model son. Well-trained, perfect teeth, eloquent, charming and handsome. He was a "good match", so to speak.
But... there are two sides to everything good.
The young Pavus trained as a wholesale and retail salesman and also studied carpet provenance. He wanted to become a professional and take over the business of his ancestors. But on the other side he also wanted to live, he was young, wealthy and looking for fun. Unfortunately, to the displeasure of his parents.
Again and again he heard reproaches that he should finally find a girl, a pretty German was just as welcome as a cute Iranian girl.
Not infrequently, befriended families with daughters Dorian's age were invited or even flown in from Iran to present the beau with an impressive selection.
But the boy only had eyes for guys - shock horror!
The shop was in a prime location in the middle of the pedestrian zone. Beautifully decorated, most of the ideas came from Dorian himself, gorgeous carpets in the display attracted young and old to the shop. And there was always laughter while enjoying chai - father and son were a well-coordinated team, charming and full of wit, lively and real merchants.
The business never stopped running splendidly, it was glorious, only Dorian was unhappy and often stood languishing at the front door.
Across the street a bistro had opened. It smelled wonderful of little Italian snacks and delicious Mediterranean food. He often ate there, he loved Italian cuisine very much. And the owners loved Dorian, because he was a nice man and also generous.
One fine morning he stood at the front door and saw the street slowly coming to life. The bistro across the street was getting drinks delivered. Since it was a narrow passage in the street, suppliers usually brought their goods with pallet trucks and sack trucks.
And then Dorian saw him for the first time. Medium height, shoulder-length chestnut hair tied in a ponytail, handsome figure, not too thin and not too fat, trained muscles on his arms and thighs like tree trunks. Pavus Junior couldn't make out the face, but he liked the rest.
Dorian tried to look without gawking, his silver-grey eyes glittering enthusiastically in the early morning light.
At some point he got distracted, had to go inside and lost sight of his crush.
At lunchtime, his father, a few well-known businessmen and he were sitting having espressi in the pretty bistro. Suddenly a young couple came by, two charming young ladies, they held hands and giggled.
Dorian knew one of them, she was the granddaughter of a friendly lady who also had a shop here in the street. He liked her and he knew, as they followed each other on Instagram, that she was queer too.
He smiled.
One of his father's acquaintances leaned over to Dorian and whispered something about "nasty lesbians" and "they just needed someone to ride". Pavus Junior was speechless. He just stared into the businessman's eyes in disgust.
"Only fags are worse" the man continued, this time not even whispering, "they are mentally ill and should be locked up". But there was more. The man in the fine suit turned up the heat and asked Dorian's father questions such as "shouldn't it be punished" and "isn't it even punishable and a mortal sin in Iran and for Muslims in general".
Halward Pavus did not speak a word, but nodded to some of the questions. Dorian blushed and jumped off his chair and ran into his father's shop.
Young Pavus tossed and turned, nightmares not allowing him to rest. But suddenly the situation changed. He saw himself standing stark naked on a balcony. He smiled. There were a thousand stars in the sky and not a sound could be heard. Suddenly, two strong, slightly hairy male arms reached around his bare chest from behind, under his arms. Very close, the male body pressed against his. Dorian felt naked flesh against his skin. A damn good feeling! They began to sway to the beat of inaudible music. Delicately, the breath of the man behind him brushed his neck. A kiss, unreal and gentle as the flutter of a butterfly's wings, breathed itself onto the skin under Dorian's left ear.
Pavus slipped from the embrace and whirled around. He had to look the man in the eye.
But by the time he had turned, his beloved was gone and with a violent flash that jolted through his whole body, Dorian woke up.
So the days passed, exciting and always new, Pavus Junior liked his job.
Dorian sat having an espresso in the cafe across the street during his lunch break and casually asked the owner if she was happy with the drinks supplier. The friendly Italian woman just raved about the nice staff at the beverage shop. They were very helpful and really funny guys.
Dorian pricked up his ears in delight.
It was a small shop, but with good service and fair prices. And just the people alone would definitely be worth it to continue to have this shop as a supplier.
Pavus Junior had an idea, he had to talk to his father immediately.
Actually, they didn't need a drinks delivery service, but Dorian put it in a friendly gesture, for the benefit of the staff. There should be free water for all employees. Glass bottles with a deposit were also more sustainable than everyone handling one-way plastic bottles.
Pavus Senior was persuaded, and they put their money where their mouth was. A lucrative deal was negotiated with the small drinks shop. And Dorian was happy, smiling even more than usual. Was his plan going to work?
The first delivery.
Simultaneous delivery to the neighbours across the street.
Dorian was jittery, pleasantly excited, maybe even a little fuzzy.
The car had to park in an adjacent side street, as usual.
He pricked up his ears, his pulse rose, he heard sack trucks.
Pavus Junior stood in the front doorway of his father's shop, grinning.
Around the corner came the other beverage store employee. A friendly man, younger than Dorian and slightly overweight, he pushed his cart with the filled water crates cheerfully in front of him. Even from a distance he nodded at Dorian and smiled. It was an extremely nice and honest smile, there was no doubt about that, yet Dorian was disappointed.
When the delivery man arrived, he was greeted in a friendly manner and invited inside by Pavus Junior.
A few words were spoken, jokes were made and there was an immediate good mood in the shop.
A few minutes more than expected must have passed when the delivery man suddenly took off at lightning speed, saying he was running late. Dorian heard a person with a sack barrow moving away from across the street as well. And Dorian recognised the person from behind - it was his crush.
Well... maybe next time, the carpet dealer's son thought to himself.
And so days and weeks passed again. The bistro across the street got drinks more often than the carpet shop, of course, but time and again Dorian only saw the man with the chestnut hair from behind.
Then it was time for a delivery again. Again anticipation on Dorian's part, but this time too the nice guy from the first time came. And the following time too.
Dorian just had to know! He asked the delivery man as he was leaving, and as if in passing, whether he got on well with his colleague and whether they also swapped deliveries now and then. The friendly fellow first answered him amusingly and politely, then he whispered. His colleague, David by name, would be uncomfortable bringing deliveries here. He had heard homophobic remarks from his father's friends and customers and therefore did not want to cause discord or even an éclat.
Dorian nodded in agreement and worried....
A new millennium, a world full of technology, Germany, a country of security, prosperity and peace.
And yet people were not accepted as they were.
Everything made sense now!
David didn't come to them and never spoke to the guests in the bistro because he was queer and just didn't want any trouble.
And Pavus Junior was furious!
He wanted to make an example!
Dorian woke up, lolling with pleasure, a slight stiffness in his groin making him grin frivolously.
Stretching one of his arms to the side, he gently touched a body.
He immediately withdrew his arm and looked incredulously in the direction of the resistance.
Facing away from him lay a naked body. Shapely curves presented themselves to him in the semi-darkness of the room. Pale skin, hairy in pleasant places, literally beamed at him. Dorian heard a slight purr, not a snore, but the person appeared to be fast asleep. Auburn hair, about shoulder length, flowed around the sleeping person's unseen face.
Pavus Junior liked what he saw, a lot. He felt playful. Should he dare to wake the gentleman and ask for a round of sinking ships?
How Dorian would have liked to run his fingertips delicately and almost unreal over the body's skin until the person just had to wake up and was ready for a little ...
A deafeningly loud bang jolted Dorian out of his dream. Just another dream! But the bang was a sign.
Dorian Pavus was a young, bright, friendly and attractive man. He wore a cheeky moustache, lower lip beard, undercut, delicate makeup and the finest clothes.
Today he wore a dark suit in aubergine, with a rainbow-coloured tie.
His father eyed him but said nothing.
It was the day of the water delivery and Dorian asked a staff member to receive the goods. He himself wanted to wait in the alley and finally speak to his crush. Blatant or not - David had to know about his attitude and true feelings! And more importantly, Dorian was going to ask David out if there was interest. Pavus Junior was going all-in today. No matter what the cost!
Once upon a time in Musterstadt, people of different backgrounds, opinions, religions, skin colours and preferences lived there.
People died, such as Mr. Pavus Senior, but his business, his legacy remained. The business was now run under new management. The employees liked working there, little changed.
Two good-humoured people sat opposite each other on a mild late summer afternoon in the small fine Italian bistro, sipping their espressi. They smiled at each other, stroked each other's hands delicately, and they were planning their wedding and honeymoon.
The street scene had changed somewhat, the shops around had become more colourful, fresher and bolder. Some of the clientele had stayed away since then, things in flux bring change, to the benefit of some and the displeasure of others. But Musterstadt remained Musterstadt and this was a good sign.
A little side note:
This is a fairytale, yet in fiction there is always a spark of reality.
What happened to Dorian?
As said, it is a fairytale and who doesn't LOVE happy endings...

WIP WEDNESDAY
Just a good time
The evening before the parade was really nice.
The bar played super good music, the drinks were exceptionally drinkable, the company was top-notch. The three friends had a blast.
Sera didn't want to leave David sitting alone at the bar all the time, so she sent Dorian over to him at some point to persuade the hairy boy to dance.
Dorian really didn't have the slightest objection to dancing with a man and then with one he really liked - Sera's idea sounded very good. The dancing was without any rules anyway, everyone moved cool and casual to the modern dance music.
A short time later, Dorian and David stood in the crowd of dancing people and smiled at each other. They moved to the beautiful music and simply enjoyed their time together. But suddenly the music style changed. From fast beats to romantic slow rhythms.
All the dancers, who seemed to be couples, hugged each other and started moving to the rhythm of the music. The others left the dance floor.
Trevelyan first stood transfixed and then made to leave when Dorian grabbed him by the arm, "Hey hey, where are you going, you funny fellow?"
With a lithe twist, Pavus grabbed his counterpart and pressed David's hands on his hips. He himself put his arms delicately and lightly around Trevelyan's neck.
The man with the dapper moustache looked kindly, even affectionately, into his mate's purple-blue eyes. They both began to move in time, quietly and in absolute unison. They felt each other's bodies and it felt damn good.
"Thank you two for convincing me to come with you! Really! I mean it! I need friends and some time off and well... I need... well... thank you, David." Hushed Dorian softly, and despite the music and murmurs, David understood every word. He smirked and winked, but said nothing.
Dorian was grateful for his colleague's wordless understanding. And David was simply thankful for Dorian's existence....
▪︎▪︎▪︎
"You two noses are too cute, you should have seen each other!!! You really make the talk about you perfect! Danced like two lovebirds. But shall not be our loss. Your romance is our way to the awards ....HAHA"
Sera laughed maniacally, getting ready for bed.
David sat on the edge of the bed waiting for Dorian who was still in the bathroom.
"Dorian is just a wonderful dancer, who can resist?"
Sera walked over to her colleague and sat close to him.
She whispered, "If you want to be alone with Dori, I could go around the houses again. Won't take too long with you men, 5 minutes would do, wouldn't it.... hihihihi. But seriously, old boy, I'd really go outside again for you. You like Dori, don't you? Right? RIGHT!!!"
Her last RIGHT was accompanied by an elbow nudge into her colleague's side.
"Sera, please!" David blushed.
"Oh shit! So I'm right!!! You'd actually like to fuck him up?! Jesus!!! Where am I supposed to go now?" The cute blonde scratched her head.
"Ssssh, Sera darling, please!"
"Shit David, you've really fallen in love with our handsome Dori! WOW!!! I knew it..."
Trevelyan cut her off, "Sera, I'll terminate our friendship if you tell him anything! Do you hear? And that would hurt me more than you think!!!"
Then they both fell silent.
Sera broke the silence and whispered, "Man, I didn't know how serious you were, but I won't jeopardise our friendship, I promise!"
"Now you've understood, Sera! Friendship is what Dorian needs, what we all need, in this crazy and sometimes superficial world. Desire and closeness are nice, but sometimes you have to prioritise. Oh, he's coming..."
Dorian came out of the bathroom looking as if he'd been spun out of an egg. Even in his pyjamas and without make-up he looked bombastic.
What a beautiful and sweet person, Trevelyan thought to himself. With these thoughts he got up and felt he had to use the bathroom again.
When he had disappeared into it, Dorian sat down next to Sera, who was still sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Have I disturbed you? Tehehe..." Chuckled the young man with the silver eyes.
"Perhaps? PAH!" Laughed his colleague back at him.
Dorian moved very close to his friend and began to speak very softly.
"Couldn't it be that our dear David is bi after all?"
"Pfff... nonsense! And he couldn't end up with me anyway, he has too few tits and too much cock, to put it crudely but clearly! So, Pavus: NONSENSE!!!"
Dorian shook his head.
"Dearest Sera, I didn't really mean you two, but... I don't understand why he doesn't ... well, hit on me?! Am I not his type?"
Sera whispered in her colleague's ear, "Is Davey your type then? Honestly, Dori?"
"Good question, Sera sweetie. Phew... well... not really, to be honest, not really. But he's really nice and a dear mate." Was Pavus' reply.
"Maybe he feels that..."
With those words, the cute woman stood up and walked over to where she was sleeping on the comfy couch.

Feelings and thoughts
I would have to lie, and let's face it, what good would it do me to lie to myself if I didn't claim to be the happiest person in all of Thedas!
The feeling of unconditional warmth was not often granted to me in life, either I had to work hard for it or I could never be sure if it was sincerely meant.
With him, even in the eye of the storm, it was all so real, almost too good. But I have to admit, I've always been magically drawn to wit, the surreal and fantasy.
And it was all always so pure! From one moment to the next! You didn't have to ask him for long. Fascinating, isn't it?!
And he took me as I am! With all my make-up, my impertinent manner, my sarcasm and my moods. He always had a gentle smile for me, even when all seemed almost lost.
But it wasn't just this comforting, familiar warmth that he could bring to me in the icy cold of Skyhold... No! He set me ablaze as soon as I heard him or smelled him, I didn't even have to see him.
Skin as pale as alabaster, hair full and soft, eyes a colour so unusual and enchanting it cannot be described. And he had assets! Qualities I wouldn't have wanted to know about before....
Back then I always preferred slim or extremely well-toned, graceful or voluptuously muscular and mostly blond men, but he had none of that!
He was of average height, was a bit stocky, he had muscles, but not from training but from hard work and his chestnut hair was far from being able to be categorised as blond. His thighs in particular were like mighty tree trunks, this came from a lot of climbing in childhood, as he told me at the time.
And to be quite honest... it was exactly all this, this total package, that got me really hot!
This hairy bear from the Free Marches drove me wild like never before. He always smelled fresh and tangy at the same time, it couldn't be more masculine than that. His voice was insanely dark and became even deeper in ecstasy. He spoke little during sex, but he moaned so much and so boldly and passionately that even the Maker himself would blush to hear that pleading and desiring yip.
And he could take a lot, if I may put it so flippantly. No position was uncomfortable for him, no orgasm enough. Nevertheless, we had talked about our no-go's in detail, so everything was always safe for both of us.
So may I proudly admit, fututio with the Inquisitor was truly a great pleasure, always a challenge and the greatest honour that could be bestowed upon me.
I miss you, Lord Trevelyan! Take good care of yourself until we meet again!

Tender Thursday
Thedas is beautiful
Birds in the most breathtaking colours twittered in the branches of mighty trees or fluttered as if weightless through the clear sky. It was glorious and the delicate scent of radiantly beautiful blossoms was in the air.
They had been travelling for a long time, setting up camp to regain their energy. The place they had chosen this time was well hidden in a small forest area. Surrounded by tall trees and rocks, the camp lay in safety.
The Inquisitor offered his tent for their free use. It was so nice and pleasant out here, he just wanted to lie outside on his bedroll and look up at the starry sky. It reminded him of his childhood in Ostwick, the many trips to visit relatives in his youth and the rambles through the countryside in the years before the days of the Inquisition.
Very early in the morning Trevelyan awoke, stretching with relish - he had slept splendidly. He heard a couple of scouts chatting cheerfully. These brave and kind souls were always on their toes, the Inquisitor felt deeply in their debt for risking and offering their own lifes, protecting the travellers.
David felt like bathing, he loved water and refreshment. Nearby was a pond with a waterfall, he wanted to sneak there before someone would miss him.
Before he could leave, he saw a figure appear next to one of the tents.
It was Dorian.
"Good morning, Lord Pavus, what brings you out of bed so early?" David said with a cheeky smile.
"Ah ah, if only it were some sort of bed! I feel as if I have been sleeping on stones. Come to think of it, there was probably a stone or two under my mat. I'm tense and tired..." Pavus huffed.
David winked and beckoned Dorian to him, grabbed his hand and then, without another word, they scurried through dense bushes.
So they walked briskly hand in hand for quite a while. Trevelyan seemed to know the way and the man from Tevinter followed him without hesitation or asking a single question.
Sparkling like countless diamonds, the lake lay before them. The small waterfall in the background made the picture perfect - nature was pure beauty!
(David Trevelyan was a true outdoorsman. He grew up as the youngest scion of an impoverished aristocratic family. Always outdoors, no water was too deep, no tree too high. He had learned to be part of nature. David knew which plants to eat, which were useful to treat wounds, he knew how to survive for days alone in the woods and fields. Not everything was safe out here, but still he felt no fear.
Dorian Pavus liked pretty clothes and soft beds. He was brought up to be heir of a big name and owner of a large estate, to master difficult situations with calculation and resourcefulness, and to pay attention to nobility and quality. As a toddler he was treated like a raw egg by his father, with excessive caution he allowed the boy to have few first experiences. Dorian was ignored by his mother and pampered by his father. He became a spoiled ruffian who believed he could do anything, for a long time he did not know where his limits lay. When he left his home, his homeland, he was completely on his own for the first time and almost broke in the face of the raw beauty of nature. Long walks in rain or heat. No bed, no fireplace, no decent food, no person to look after him. On his journey or let's call it escape, the smart, middle aged and handsome lord became a man and a fighter).
"Beautiful! David, look! A rainbow..." Marvelled Dorian.
Trevelyan was silent and smiled gently.
So they stood for a while, hand in hand, silently and reverently in front of the body of water.
"Come, let us go into the water." The Inquisitor broke the silence.
"Nonsense! It must be deep and the water is dirty!" Dorian retorted to him.
"Dirty? Look, you can see the pebbles on the bottom. This water is extremely clear. And I'll save you from the shallows. You'll like it, I promise you, even over there we can still stand without being under water."
Trevelyan's smile was so genuine and inviting and Dorian really didn't feel clean and a small bath would definitely be restorative for his aching back, so they decided to take off their clothes and go into the water.
"Kaffas, it's extremely cold!" Scolded Pavus as he took his first step into the sparkling lake.
"It's early in the morning, what did you expect... hahaha" Laughed the Inquisitor, who meanwhile had already splashed two metres further.
"Literally everything is turning small in here, if you know what I mean, fasta vass!" Dorian rumbled on but still waded towards Trevelyan.
"It's just the opposite with me. The cool water, the atmosphere and especially the sight of you make a lot of things swell with joy in me!"
David straightened up, brushed his hair, which seemed even longer when wet, behind his ears and had a mischievous grin on his face.
The mage slowly approached.
"Almost there, Dori, almost there!" Encouraged the Herald in his deep voice.
Pebbles, yes, beautiful, smooth pebbles....
Dorian Pavus slipped and sank into waist-deep water.
It splashed around the spot and David jumped to him in a flash.
In a few seconds Dorian was back on his feet, coughing his lungs out.
"It's all right, darling, it's alright. It's fresh water, no harm done." David stroked his beloved's back.
Pavus held onto his lover and it shook him, but he remained silent.
Soon, Dorian was breathing normally again.
"You would fish me out of the sea if I went overboard, wouldn't you?" Dorian asked, quietly and with his eyes closed.
"Nothing in the world would stop me, Dori!" Was Trevelyan's reply.
And the mage clung even tighter to the wet and hairy body of the Inquisitor.
"I'm sorry I ruined the beautiful atmosphere." Dorian blinked and looked into David's purple-eyes.
"You know what, darling, you've only made everything here more enchanting. Believe me, the most beautiful thing here in our beloved Thedas is still you!" And David hugged his Dori and closed his eyes contentedly and happily.
Life is wonderful.
Glorious things surround us everywhere.
Nature is a gift from the Maker.
Thedas is a jewel worth saving.
But without love, everything would be half as beautiful!
Am I right or am I right?
