On my old account I posed this exact question and I got the most wonderful response that I still remember to this day.

An anonymous user sent me this reply: "cannibal vibes, but like in a horny enigma of gender sort of way". I remember responding with "the only vibes I wish to be giving off. Thank you anon for your contribution"

Anywho, enough sad things, time to return to your regularly scheduled programming, which is an update on my pending fanfiction of The Ladder Scene™️

I finally finished dissecting the scene and taking notes on it (tell me why a 1:47 scene took almost 3 pages of notes 💀)

Now I can actually start writing it and get into the not-so-cannon (i.e. spicy) parts that will be included. I’ll be sure to post updates on how it’s coming along!

No matter how many time I rewatch Hannibal, I always cry during Mizumono. I’m sure a lot of other people are the same (or I’m just a sensitive bitch (I am)). But does anyone else have a sort of existential crisis afterwards too?

Every time I watch it, when it’s over, I simply sit and do nothing. I stare at a wall, and listen to Bloodfest over and over and over.

Because this show, namely this episode, never fails to make me emotional. This show makes me feel irritation, excitement, awe, sadness, and numerous other emotions.

I weep for what is lost in Mizumono. I weep over the death of Abigail and the Stag, over the shattering of the teacup.

The point I’m trying to make here is that this show, in its very essence, is beautiful. It makes you feel many things — in this episode, namely sorrow.

I hope I’m not alone in this feeling.

Okay, call me crazy but I’m gonna do a bit of analysis here:

We all know that when the first officers walk into the room, Hannibal’s expression indicates that he’s worried since he doesn’t see Will. When Will walks into the room, he appears relieved. Obviously he even says to Will “I was worried you were dead.”

In the last gif at the bottom, when Will smiles at Hannibal, Hannibal smiles for a brief moment while looking at Will and then drops his gaze. To me it looks like he’s contemplating something — contemplating his original plans to wind Will up and watch him go, to experiment on him and analyze him. I think he realizes he’s becoming attached to Will, and he’s not entirely sure what to do about it.

I don’t know, I could be spewing nonsense here, but this is just my take on it.

YES THIS OML. It’s so funny to see him looking all sad and mopey as he looks across the room to see the chair that Will usually sits in empty.

Like, that’s your own fault bitch! You wound him up and watched him go! You lied to him about the fact that he was literally encephalitic, which made him go even further off the rails, and then you framed him for multiple murders!

He didn’t think he’d get attached to Will, he thought just experimenting on him would be enough fun, so he framed him to get rid of him.

Then, surprise! He finds out he loves the man, and doesn’t want to see him rot in prison. Like bitch, you should’ve figured that out sooner!

To add onto the humor, the fact that Will knew the truth much sooner than everyone else, but when he tried to prove it, he got shot down (literally, Jack shot him to keep him from killing Hannibal).

So eventually Will just goes ‘fuck it, I’m done trying to prove to everyone that Hannibal is a murderous cannibal. I’ll just join him’.

I know we love Hannibal’s cannibal puns and joke about them but like. We never talk about WHY he makes them.

This guy takes so much pleasure in the fact that he has created a facade so perfect that he could literally dangle the truth in front of every one and they never even suspect him. He can literally say “you are dining with a psychopathic serial killer lol” and not have it ring any alarms until MUCH later. His power.
