TW- menstruation, dysphoria 

I spent straight YEARS being extremely dysphoric about my period and had no idea. I spent forever outright refusing to talk about anything related to menstruation, not even to my mother and I would give doctors minimal information, I still cannot use tampons due to the level of dysphoria they give me, and it just all around felt wrong. I always figured it was normal, periods were stigmatized, it was normal for me to be made so uncomfortable by such things, right? All girls can’t stand their periods, right? But that’s not always the case, at times it is, but not always. 

So to AFAB people questioning their gender identity, just be aware that there is a difference between “I am uncomfortable because this is happening to me” and “I am uncomfortable because this feels like something that should not be happening to me”.
