Large Pet Peeve: when people say "the Christian view on [x] is.." and promptly follow it up with a traditional view from a specific century or decade from a random western country that has nothing to do with what the bible actually says about that topic and may even contradict it.

It's not your fault. You won't be stuck forever. I know you're trying. I know you hate it. It's ok.

And tell the Mean Voice in your head that it's not helping. It knows as well as you do that you would get up and Just Start the task if you could. You're not doing this on purpose.

Take a deep breath. Relax your jaw. I see you trying so hard to break out of it, but you can't force it. You'll get Unstuck eventually. All you can do in the interim is be kind to yourself.

thinking of dumping a kinda cringe poem here i wrote last month, thats inspired a little by kyosaya and also my own emotions at the time

→ my friends have been amazing at providing constructive criticism; but i wanted an outward view

→ i dont write poems btw so its quite bad i think i just really enjoy reading poetry and had a surge of inspiration

You claim to have faith! But all you have is works. You work yourself to the bone, punishing yourself if you fail. Believing that there is no way God would accept you again. There is no grace in your world, and you take it out on those around you, driving away children from the faith. Your tombs are rotten your temples desecrated and you wonder why the church is shrinking.

Yes, the way is narrow and few can follow it. But you are heaping them over with burdens of lead and pushing them to and fro so that they fall off the tight rope of faith as soon as then next light breeze taps them off.

Their eyes are on themselves for you have taught them to look at their faults in piety(pity) and distress instead of looking towards the One to whom they aim to follow and relying on his mercy and transformation.

Live and examined life? Yes.   But let that examination be in light of the mercy of God and the cup of the new covenant. You wonder why they leave, because they do not see that which they seek. They long for God and seek to be with him. And if all they see are rotting tombs and pigs in temples they will not wish to be there. For God is not with them (those with tombs and temples) and anybody can sense that. Wake up oh church see your folly, see the desecration of the new creation. You are stone and your eyes are turned towards the sea. You see its violent ravaging, and fear. You do not look to the Lord Almighty, you reject His help(er). You neglect the body and wonder why it dies. You see not because you look not. You say have faith, but where is your faith? You condemn the doubter and shame them, yet they are the ones who wrestle and seek for God, not you. You cast them from the path of redemption because they seek the LORD. You claim life, but you seek death. The love of God is not in you. Come Back. Seek his Face. Know him. Trust him. Wrestle with the Lord.

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?
