jegulily are nerds. huge, giant, nerds. but in very different ways.
lily is a nerd in the sense she spends most of her time in the library, planning her career and studying for classes, obsessing over fictional books, playing chess, reading lord of the rings a million times, practices potion making for fun and likes to make the same potion over and over, gets excited over quidditch stats and making types of plays but finds watching the actual game boring
regulus is a nerd in the sense he obsesses over classical music and relentlessly learns compositions, secretly loves classic romance books and uses them to work out how to socialise, spends all his time studying or on independent projects usually related to something in one of his classes, was ojce given a cigarette and his first thought was to dissect it open
james is a nerd in the sense he obsessively watched star wars over and over and then brought every piece of merch he could find, always gets top marks in everything, willingly reads extremely high level transfiguration books for fun all the time, spends all day working out quidditch stats, and had a map making phase as a kid (which he still has)

Remus’ friendship with Sirius and James is actually hilarious. Lyall probably went ‘be careful son it’s important’ and Remus is like yeah alright like a good little werewolf and then a week later he sends a letter that’s like ‘my bestfriends, James Potter and Sirius Black-‘ like his parents must have had an aneurism

what if I just start letting people know about what I think? like what if when someone asks me what i’m thinking about I’m honest and like “how Snape never deserved the redemption arc and should have died miserable and with Harry spitting on his body while it’s still warm after he watched the light leave his eyes because that man deserves nothing he bullied children”
like what if I just told people that?

My fanfic for Bill Weasley coming out of the closet!

⋖⑅⋗
Bill Weasley is leaving in just a week for his apprenticeship. It's time for the oldest Weasley to tell his family something important. Why not do it just before he leaves and let his family think on it? Seems like the best idea to him.
⋖⑅⋗
WARNINGS - homophobia, language, Molly Weasley bashing and that's about it.

Bill Weasley spends most of his time reviewing textbooks and practicing spells at this point in his life. In just a week he's leaving home for Egypt, for training. Being a curse breaker will probably be one of the more interesting things to happen to him. Being the eldest out of seven siblings, the youngest the age of six, isn't the easiest. Moving out will probably be the hardest part, that or telling his mum he likes blokes.
None of the Weasley's believed in race-purity, the color of your skin didn't matter, who you liked, that mattered. Not to his dad, it's mostly Molly. She was always reading the muggle magazines, seeing the reports, reading too many false articles. It won't surprise anyone he likes both blokes and girls, it's just not something for their household. According to Molly it's not something for the young men she's raising.
As Bill rereads a passage there's a knock on his door, most of his things packed away. Whoever it is comes in, it's Charlie holding a cup of ice and a bag from the store down the road.
"Can you pierce my ears?" The barely younger boys face was alight with joy. He'd looked into it before, the price and how to take care of them. Molly always said no though, it wasn't right for young men.
"Walk me through it." Bill closes the text books, setting it aside as Charlie sat next to him. The younger of the two explains to hold the ice on the earlobe until it's numb, then use the apple slice behind the ear to steady the lobe. Next would be stabbing him with a needle, taking it out, then putting in the earring.
"Only if you do mine." Charlie nods excitedly, dropping an ice cube in Bill's hand.
The two maneuver until they can face each other comfortably. Bill holds the ice to the ear, yells of Ron and Ginny arguing over something in the distance. Fred and George's laughter can be heard.
With one hand Bill finds an apple slice, bending it in half making it snap. He puts the ice cube back in the cup, holding the apple chunk behind the lobe.
"Bill," Charlie had pure fear in his eyes. "Bill give me a count down."
"I have a better idea." So this might not be the most ideal way to tell his first family member. It's better than no one though. "I'm gonna tell you something, and stab." Charlie nods slightly as Bill brings the needle up to the lobe. "Charlie, I like blokes and girls."
"Wha- fuck!" Charlie screams as the needle pierces flesh. In quick motions Bill replaces the needle with an earring and puts the back on. Charlie's eyes are wider then ever as Bill goes to start the other ear.
"Charlie, Bill what's going on!" Bill's eyes go wide as he looks to the door.
"Nothing, Charlie dropped one of my books on his foot!" He yelled back. That seems to satisfy her. Charlie reaches in the bag and pulls out a bandana. He rolls it up, smirking lightly.
"I came prepared." He stuffs the rolled up piece of fabric in his mouth, then Bill begins piercing this ear. Charlie's scream is muffled this time, eyes wide. Once Bill has the earring in Charlie spits out the fabric.
"For one, gross that's covered in your spit." Charlie turns red as Bill rolls his eyes. "Two," Bill holds up two fingers, "I am not getting my ears done with these."
"Can we go back to you liking blokes and girls?" Bill shrugs, going through the bag. "I got you dangles." Bill hums and grabs the small pack.
"It's not that hard of a concept," Bill grumbles. Charlie starts icing Bill's ear.
"I get that, I just thought that was pretty normal." Bill hums, okay, so his little brother wasn't one to be up to date on the family beliefs. "So my real question was, why tell me?" Charlie holds up the apple chunk, needle in hand.
"Oh," is all Bill says before stuffing the second piece of fabric in his mouth. The scream is muffled. There is no way a piercing should be that painful. He spits out the wad of fabric, gagging at the taste it left.
"Well, being like us I guess, is basically always frowned upon. Blokes are supposed to like girls, same for girls but other way around." Charlie stares at him for a moment, then goes back to putting in an earring. He moves onto the next ear. "Not that I think it's wrong to be like us. It's just different from a lot of other people."
"Should we tell Mum?" Bill shakes his head softly.
"No, she doesn't," Bill pauses, "particularly enjoy people like us."
"Why?" Always one with too many questions, not really understanding anything unless you gave context. Just like you couldn't point somewhere and say there when he's asking where something is, always give context.
"She reads too much."
"I like reading."
"She reads lies though. The papers that tell her people like us ruin families and tell that we're a disease." Charlie is sixteen, too old to be lied to about this. Charlie nods, grabbing for an apple chunk.
"Do we ruin families? Are we a disease if we aren't normal?" Charlie hands the cloth to Bill. This leaves the older with time to think over his answer. A muffled scream and earring later Charlie is looking at him expectantly.
"Anyone can ruin a family Charlie, no matter who they fancy." Charlie nods and starts packing away his items. "And no one is a disease unless they're a Death Eater." Charlie smiles at him faintly, standing as Molly calls for dinner.
"Are you going to tell Mum though?"
"Probably right before I leave. If you want to tell her I suggest before you yourself leave." Charlie nods once more. Walking out of the room. He through the bag into his own open room, closing the door.
Fred and George are yelling, Molly snapping at them. Percy is carrying a book, a muggle one he enjoys. Ginny and Ron are seated at the table, glancing at each other every few minutes. Arthur is nowhere to be seen, it's a normal dinner night for their family.
"William Arthur Weasley! Charles Septimus Weasley! What have you done to yourselves?" Molly is yelling at them and it all falls into pace. Their burning faces, their smiles as she yells. It all feels right.
*¤*
All the Weasley's sit at the table. All in their unspoken, but always the same seats. Arthur at the head, Bill to his right and Charlie to his left. On Charlie's side, going from closest to him down, Percy, Ginny, Fred. Across from them in order ffrom Bill down, Percy, Ron, then George. Molly sits all the way across the table from Arthur, smiling slightly at her wary husband.
"Before we eat, Bill you had an announcement?" Arthur looks to his eldest, the one who shares his name. Bill nods, looking down at his full plate.
"I think I like blokes, and girls too, but mostly blokes." He looks to Arthur, who's smiling now. Then he looks to Molly, who's mouth is set in a thin line and her eyebrows creased. He hands clasp and her eyes lower to stare at her own dish of food.
"We'll talk later. Tuck in everyone," then they're eating. Charlie's eyes are full of apologies, Bill gives him a smile back.
Arthur eyes Molly, then drops another roll on Bill's plate. "Proud of you Bill," he smiles. Bill nods, red painting his face. Arthur was always proud of one of them for something. Bill was always for his quidditch abilities. This is something special.
Molly doesn't speak directly to him until dinner is over. Telling Bill to stay behind while the others leave to go get ready for bed. Bill starts helping with the dishes, Molly frowning at her hands.
"What did I do wrong Bill?" He looks from the sink to his mother. He shakes his head, frowning.
"Nothing Mum, you did everything right."
"Then why," he can see the trace of a tear on her cheek. "What did I do to make you like this?" She looks up, watery eyes focusing on his.
"You didn't do anything. You didn't cause this, it's just who I am." Molly goes to wipe her eyes, standing up suddenly.
"Then I don't want you around your siblings. We can have this getting around to all the other families. Your influence would cause your siblings to be like this and that can't do." Her problem solving has kicked in as she paces. Arthur steps into the room, soft smile set across his features.
"There's still a chance you'll marry a girl. Oh honestly William, this could all be because of that group you hang around with. They could have done something to you, caused this."
"Molly-"
"That must be it. I can still get grandchildren. How could you know you like guys?"
"Dear-"
"Bill, this decision could tear our family apart." Finally it seems like she has to take a breath.
"Molly," Arthur's voice is a bit louder than usual. "Dear, it's just who Bill is. If he wants to marry a bloke that's perfectly fine."
"Arthur, it's un-"
"It's nothing of the kind dear. Bill why don't you go up and get ready for bed? I imagine you have to leave early tomorrow." Bill is still in shock, he didn't expect to be called unnatural.
"Yeah, uh, yeah. I'll be going now." Bill takes off walking, his mother's voice ringing clear behind him.
"I will not let one of your boyfriends in this house." He nods slightly, walking up the stairs and into his room. Charlie is laying on his bed, starring at the ceiling
"She's angry isn't she?" Charlie sits up, Bill can make out the dragon figure in his lap.
"Just a little, get to bed Charlie. A growing dragonologist needs his rest." Charlie brightens, hopping up. The dragon figure is held delicately in one hand as he escapes out the room, shouting a goodnight to everyone.
Bill changes, goes through his nightly routine. As he's laying down to go to sleep his door opens. Bill looks, seeing Percy standing there. The younger smiles lightly, nodding to Bill.
"Bill," he mumbles. Percy steps entirely into the room. "I think if you married a bloke I'd like having another brother." Bill smiles, laughing lightly.
"Thank you Percival, that means a lot. If Mum ever says anything that makes you think it is wrong just remember me. Remember that not everything she reads is true." Percy nods, saying a quiet goodnight as he steps outside. He closes the door, leaving Bill in the light coming from the window.
Tears come to his eyes, knowing every time Molly sees him it won't be the same. She'll hear in the back of her head the things the paper tells her. She'll hear that conversation every time he mentions dating anyone. She'll wish with all her might he'll wake up one morning and stop liking both blokes and girls. Couldn't she just accept him for who he is, not who she wants him to be.
Bill wipes at his eyes as the tears roll down from the corner of his eyes. It doesn't really matter anymore. He won't see them that often, most of his items moved to his provided apartment already. Starting tomorrow he'll be on the road and not know when he'll see her again. If he did it a week ago maybe she would be over it by the time he left.
*¤*
The next day he leaves with the hope of the owl following him. After his goodbyes, his mother false hug, the way she doesn't give a wish for him to be home for Christmas. All he does for the next few days is wish for Earl to appear in all his glory with a letter. A letter saying she misses him and regrets what she said. Or even saying she can love him despite her beliefs. No letter comes though, then his mind is whisked away into studying.
Bill has a job that takes time and determination. So he forgets, he let's work consume him, let's his hair grow, let's his flatmate teach him to braid it and style it. Bill has a life outside of his worries, outside of his mother and her beliefs.
So Bill learns to live with it.
