Today I saw certain (I hope younger) fandom members doing a thing on twitter where they called out fandom-famous fics and saying how bad they are.

And, no. We don't do that. We aren't rude to each other like that. If we don't like a fic we move on and find one we do like. We do not go slagging it off on twitter to make ourselves look cool.

Authors, artists, video editors, gif makers: all of these people give huge amounts of their time to provide you with content for free. They don't owe anyone anything, and being cruel about what anyone makes is below us as a fandom.

These are just the last three fics I wrote. I appreciate the likes, believe me I do, but you have to understand. Likes do nothing for content creators. It’s the reblogs. Because that’s how you find shit on your dashboard. Through reblogs. Not likes. This isn’t twitter or tiktok or instagram. This is a website that’s run by the reblog system.

Reblogging helps content creators put their stuff out there. Why do you think so many people stopped writing fanfic and creating beautiful fanart and edits? It’s because they put in hours of work and don’t get nearly enough notes for their masterpieces. Yes we do this because we enjoy it but like...some validation won’t hurt. A boost of confidence here and there might be all someone needs to finish whatever thing they started and left.

"Steve, I need you to come over," Eddie's shaky voice in the receiver made the sleepy confusion on Steve's face turn into a concerned frown.

"Wha- Are you okay?"

The loud screech, even louder thud of the phone dropping to the floor and more whimpering and sobbing was enough to get him out of bed, grabbing his bat and run to his car.

"Eddie? Eddie!"

"In here! Hurry!"

Steve gripped the bat tighter, pushing the door to Eddie's bedroom open and looking around the seemingly safe area. Expect for the mess all over the floor and bed, and the overly spooked metalhead holding a long pole stick - where did he get that from? - perched on a chair.

"Get this spawn of satan out of here!" Eddie shrieked, and for a second Steve just stared at him blankly.

"What are we fighting?" He asked, looking around more carefully now.

"There's a MOUSE in my room," the man hissed just as the sound of four little paws hit the floorboards right behind Steve. "There!"

"ARGH!" Steve threw himself onto the bed, the bat pointed at the source of the very sound - a small, grey mouse, sitting on its back legs and staring at Steve with its little head tilted to the side.

For a long moment there was no sound - the world seemed to stop around the two men and the creature.

But that was until the mouse got back on all fours and ran to the other corner, resulting in another dose of high pitched screams and violent bat-and-pole-stick swinging.

And if Wayne came home a few hours later to Steve and Eddie sleeping on the couch holding onto each other for dear life, the bedroom door barricaded with furniture and towels in every crack, then that's for them to have to explain later.

part two: Gareth 

They are doing great, they sound great, the coordination is great, the songs are great, it’s going great! After so many months of practicing to get back in form, their first show back… it’s great!

There are a lot of people in The Hideout tonight and their friends are there, he even sees Steve among the crowd, wearing the shirt he lent him and looking amazing. He snorted when he first saw him, thinking Eddie was going to flip when he saw Steve wearing a Corroded Coffin shirt.

But Eddie didn’t seem to notice Steve was there, too busy making googly eyes with a girl on the front line.

And it’s fine, Eddie used to do that sometimes when they played gigs before, he’s hot and plays a mean guitar, of course girls are attracted to him, and Eddie gets carried away when he’s playing, he doesn’t think, just acts. So he used to, on occasion, hook up with someone when they had a show.

‘But tonight? Really Eddie?’ Gareth thinks as he keeps glancing at Steve between songs, who smiles brightly and waves when he sees Gareth looking but lets his expression falter when he looks at Eddie.

And Gareth knows it’s because Eddie doesn’t know they know he likes Steve (and are okay with it). He knows it’s because Eddie doesn’t know his feelings are reciprocated. That he would never do something like this on purpose but, when he makes out with that chick on stage uncaring about everything around him and both Frank, Jeff and him automatically look at Steve, and he looks so fucking devastated, Gareth can’t help but be a little mad at his friend.

He really fucked up this time.
