Who wants some Yule Ball headcanons?

Sarah was planning to invite Luna to spend some time having fun in her father's quarters, since they were both 13 and wouldn't be going to the Yule Ball.

Her plans were ruined when Luna was invited to the ball by some Ravenclaw dunderhead. This also ruined her mood, as she was clearly annoyed with Luna.

As a revenge, Sarah who had already been invited by Draco to go to the ball (but she had refused because she couldn't stand him and because she wanted to spend time with Luna) decided to accept his invitation.

When Luna found out that Sarah was going to the ball with Draco she was a little confused. She knew Sarah didn't like Draco (she didn't like him at all either). This made her a little insecure and… jealous.

During the dance, both danced with their partners only once. Sarah was very grumpy the entire time she spent with Draco, and her father wouldn't following her around. It was making her crazy.

Luna on the other hand, realized that her partner wasn't as fun as her best friend. So after the first dance, she ran to find Sarah, and asked her to dance.

Sarah tried to keep her frown on when Luna asked her to dance, but she couldn't resist. After a few minutes the two were already having fun together, as planned.

BONUS

Snape was completely against Sarah going to the ball in the first place. That's the only reason he allowed her to take Luna into his private quarters. So that they both stayed away from the Yule Ball, and away from trouble.

His plans were also ruined when Luna showed up with a partner for the ball, and Sarah told him that she would accept Draco's invitation.

He tried to say no, but Sarah just won the argument by saying that her only friend was going, and that she didn't want to be alone. She knew how to soften her father's heart.

Snape, however, gave her rules. "No revealing dress. No makeup. Curfew at 11pm. And for the millionth time, you will not pierce your ears."

When Sarah was ready to go to the ball, Snape couldn't believe how grown up his little girl was. Tears formed in his eyes. Sarah of course, found it extremely embarrasing.

During the dance he didn't stop following her, just to make sure she was okay and following the rules. She hated every single second of it.

What if Snape was a dad?

So, I'm not talking secretly Harry or Hermione's father. Draco is just his godson. Severus Snape is just a dad. A single dad at that.

He had a one night stand where the condom broke or he forgot protection charms. Maybe the sex was great, maybe it was forgettable, but either way that awkward conversation on what's next happens about 6 weeks later. Severus was always the type of man to do the work, so he wouldn't be any different when it came to his own child he was terrified of having.

And Baby comes faster than he thought possible, with diapers and bottles and all of the laundry spells. Honestly, his wand is getting tired and he needs to grade. But he loves his child more than he thought possible, keeping them close and safe and never hurt like Severus was. He would never abuse his little one. The other parent was out of the picture (died in the war, didn't want the baby, in Azkaban), so he does everything by himself and with the help of the most investigated and monitored (not that they know that) MUGGLE babysitter he could find.

Severus is the best dad too, makes good dinners and plays outside, reads bedtime stories, and always gives his child the love he never saw. He helps them with their homework and teaches them about magic and potions. Severus makes sure that all of their clothes fit, even if it's with a quick spell before he can get to the shop. He listens to all of the playground drama and attends all of the class parties and shows (With the help of a time turner of course). Snape also participates in the bake sale even though "The flyer was passed out last week and you didn't tell me why?" But he had so much fun rolling out cookies with the most precious person on the Earth.

Of course, Snape is strict when it comes to safety. He has given a few timeouts and a handful of groundings and extra chores, but he would never ever raise a hand (or belt or wand) to his baby. He wasn't his parents and refused to stoop to their level.

But the real kicker, no one knows. Well, until Hogwarts that is. Professor McGonagall chokes, checked her glasses, then reread the name on the list of first years when one ended in SNAPE. But up stepped a first year in new robes that looked undeniably like their father. The child eagerly waved to the professor who smiled and waved back, giving a big thumbs up (students swore it was a stroke). And was promptly sorted into Ravenclaw.

Severus enjoyed stealing from Minerva's scotch stash as Albus and her lectured him for HIDING A FULL CHILD FROM THEM!!! Snape did not apologize. Then he went to find his child and checked that they were comfortable and knew exactly where his rooms were where he had an extra bed added.

Luna introduced herself to Sarah in a potions class, after both were left without a partner in one of the activities. From that day on, they were always together.

Before Luna, Sarah had no friends at Hogwarts. Luna didn't talk to many people either. The two were considered weirdos.

Most people avoided talking to Sarah because they feared her father, others because they thought she was exactly like him. Luna didn't listen to what they said about Sarah, and she wasn't intimidated by Professor Snape either.

After the two became inseparable, Sarah took on a very protective personality over Luna. She wouldn't allow people to bully her best friend, and anyone who did would receive a hex.

Luna always thought Sarah was the funniest person ever, Sarah could make her laugh just by existing. For Luna, Sarah's sarcastic and intense manner was extremely amusing.

When Luna was invited by a boy to the Yule Ball, Sarah was silently hurt and angry.

Luna understood that she was in love with Sarah in her 4th year, after Dolores Umbridge tried to prevent groups from getting together. Luna and Sarah's time together was limited this year, and Luna really missed her partner.
