Season 7

I know everyone's so happy about Brooklyn Nine Nine's season 7 and so am I but here me out. (This is gonna be a bit of a bummer so probably read at your own will.)

I love NBC for renewing the show for season 6. If it wasn't for them alot would have been so different. There would have been so much that we never got to see. So many jokes that we could laugh on. And we'd still be super depressed that this amazing show didn't get the ending and the due run it deserves. So really thank you NBC from the bottom of my heart.

But the reason NBC renewed the show was to give it a 'proper ending' with 13 episodes to which 5 epsiodes were later added because of the fan support. Whilst I'm glad this show is renewed for a season 7 for some reason it doesn't seem fair that it should get only 13 episodes.

It feels like the end.

And I'm not ready for that. Brooklyn Nine Nine is not ready for that. This show has still so much to offer, so much to give. It can easily run a successful 22 episode season as it has for five seasons and it sucks that its beings sullied down to just 13 episodes per year.

And it's not just that; one of the most amazing thing about Brooklyn Nine Nine has always been it's Halloween episodes. We had a chance to get the Halloween heist on Halloween and it was snatched from us. I feel robbed honestly. And I wish I could see b99 cover another Christmas and thanksgiving. And if next season is going to focus on Amy's pregnancy just as Season 5 focuses on their wedding, I'd be more upset so because we could have had 22 epsidoes of this but here we are compromising on 13 and it might just be the end because for one reason or another it sure as hell feels like that.

The universe is cruel and unpredictable. Not everything is in our control and sometimes things definetly happen that we can not control. Brooklyn Nine Nine's new breath of life feels synonymous to life-support. They hold the power to cut it off at any given moment. And if they do, who is to say it'll come back once more if it's lost again?

I've always been really curious as to when was the first time Amy calls Jake by his first name. So I paid extra attention and now you can do what you want with this information.

The first time Amy calls Jake Peralta by his first name is in Episode 5 of Season 1.

'Always classy, Jake.'

They actually went through five episodes without Amy calling Jake by his first name. Wow!

Okay so randomly going through Google pictures I found this picture!

Adorable right!? Hold on, on the gushing I'm not done yet.

If you take a closer look at the picture. You can see this tiny board that clearly says '99 Family Picnic' (if I'm not mistaken) in the background.

I can't read much else but Come on!!!! That's such a great fic idea! Jake goofing around as a bachelor at the family picnics. He's just full fun and a few inappropriate jokes here and there but he'd unconsciously be sooo popular among the kids cause he's kid-like so they immediately love him. While Amy's just sitting there sulking cause the kids think she's nerdy. But she'll find some beat cop's daughter and they'll be talking about books and it'll brighten up her and Jake's day. (He'll also annoy and make fun of her to no end ofcourse.)

But then two years later, he has Amy to go with and they just own the event taking care of the kids and playing along. Just geniunly enjoying the sun, sitting arm in arm, talking to their peers.

But the best family picnics are when they have a kid of their own. She'll be in an adorable frok, braided hair. Her Dad holding her in his arms as they walk in the park, arm in arm with her Mom, smiling the brightest grin anyone in the Nine Nine has ever seen adorning their faces. Suffice it to say Jake and Amy never felt more estatic playing and watching a kid smile than as they do when their own daughter smiles.

I just.......... I'll let you guys imagine the rest.

I wrote a thing for @meepmorpperaltiago at her request about Jake doing his daughter’s hair. Not to be all “this is so bad” but.. don’t expect much dnjkfjfjal. I used @fourdrinkamy‘s headcanon of their daughter’s name being Maya because I have zero capability to decide names for myself. Hope you like this Cara!

Amy being promoted to Lieutenant meant she had the ability to adjust her hours so that Maya could always have one of her parents to help her get ready for preschool. Since Jake didn’t have that same liberty to move around his schedule, Amy was more than happy to do it. Today though, she had an emergency about a case she was helping Rosa with and, despite him telling her one day wouldn’t matter, she hated the idea of Maya being without her parents in the morning. To placate her, Jake texted Holt he was going to be late (which is most definitely very unprofessional but it’s okay because they have that kind of relationship) so that Amy wouldn’t have to feel guilty.

He’s glad he gets to do this today though. There’s no better way to spend the morning than staring down at his daughter’s head with a comb in one hand and a spray bottle in the other while she eats her Lucky Charms at the kitchen island. Amy taught him how to do this once or twice, but he’s not a seasoned pro like she is, and every time he tries… well… he does his best.

His daughter’s curls seem far more wild today than they usually are and for a moment he curses the universe for passing down his curls to hers, because otherwise there would be a lot less to deal with.

“Alright baby, I’m going to spray your hair now okay?”

“Okay, daddy,” she mumbles around a mouth full. Him and Amy learned the hard way that they always need to warn her before spraying her hair, she’ll have a frustrating breakdown otherwise. He sprays lightly at the curls and Maya still squeals and shivers dramatically. “It’d cold!”

“Oh, I’m sorry,” he tells her softly and combs out the newly damp hair. He still can’t believe how thin and soft his daughter’s hair is. Everything about her is so tiny and light sometimes he’s worried she will dissolve in his arms, which is a very weird thought to have, but that’s the only way he can describe the feeling. He chuckles to himself a little while he separates the strands for a braid, it’s crazy how much it’s like he’s touching air.

“Do you, hey daddy, do you know how… how to do this,” she stumbles and he looks at her through the stand mirror right as she fits a too big spoonful into her little mouth.

“Do what, sweetie,” he says.

“How to do braids,” she says innocently, but Jake can’t help but take playful offense, mostly playful at least.

“Duhh, of course I can do braids,” he teases, but when he looks down he realizes that while he was distracted, he lost one of the strands in the sea of frizz. He curses silently to himself and shamefully brushes out what he’s done to start again.

“You see, you dunno how to do it,” Maya says, accompanied by a smug smile he can’t not admit she totally got from him.

I cannot stress or appreciate enough how much @amazingsantiago has helped me in writing this fanfic. She’s in true essence amazing. I love her fics, I love her and now this fic holds a special place in my heart. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Thank you so very much! ❤️

It’s a very normal Monday morning in Brooklyn at the 99th precinct. That is until man-child Jacob Peralta walks into the precinct; a pair of frames adorning his face.

Jake Peralta was wearing glasses. Dorkish rounded square glasses.

Charles is the first one to notice the difference as Jake walks to his desk consciously quiet, not wanting to draw any unnecessary attention which is unusual for Jake Peralta for he always makes his presence known when ever he enters the precinct.

‘Jake, what’s on your face!?!?’ Charles screams loud enough for the whole precinct to stop and look at Jake. Half of them confused, the other half smirking.

'It’s nothing, Boyle. Get back to work.’ He hushes him but to no avail as Charles only gets more hysterical in confronting him.

'What did you do to your baby browns, Jake!? How am I supposed to see them now!? They’re all glassy and weird!’

'Ahahah Jake’s getting old!’ Rosa chimes in laughing.

'Calm down, Boyle! This is just for today. I couldn’t find my contacts.’

'So this is Amy’s fault?! Amy, how could you? Do you even love him?’ Boyle changes his target of exasperation in a matter of seconds.

'Uh uh.’ Amy smirks, making no effort what so ever to abstain from laughing. 'This all on you, Peralta. I asked you to clean the bathroom ages ago. I gotta say, I feel like you deserve this.’

Jake snarls at her as Boyle fans himself after his scarce dose of domestic peraltiago.

'Pay up, Grandpa. You bragged at the academy there was NO WAY you’d get older first.’ Rosa quips.

'We’re the same age, Rosa!’

'Tell that to your eyesight, ugly Betty.’ Rosa contorts. 'Where’d you even get these? Did you go out shopping with Lieut?’

'Oh hell no! Even Terry’s got enough sense not to buy that contraption.’ Terry joins in.

'Terry you have a weird necklace with your glasses; Your opinion means nothing to me.’

'He kinda looks like Tony Vreski, right?’ Terry adds.

They all collectively agree with him smiling as realisation draws on them.

'Now you all know Die Hard!’ Jake looks around in disbelief 'He’s not even a main character! This is the worst day ever!’ he mumbles. 'I don’t remember anyone making this much fun of Terry’s glasses!’

'Your’s are way worse, man.’ Terry responds to which everyone nods and agrees, snickering openly despite Jake’s frown. After all its not everyday they get to make fun of Jake Peralta.

The precinct falls silent upon the ring of Jake’s phone. Almost expectant. He sceptically takes his phone out of his pocket only to see a text from Gina.

Heard you got glasses now 👨👓 Send me a pic girl!

'Who told Gina?!’ He asked ludicrously. The squad only roars in laughter in return.

'What is the meaning of this commotion?’ Captain Holt demands, the racket having drawn him into the bull-pen. 'My, my Peralta you look quite distinguished.’ He observed seeing Peralta the centre of attention.

'Thank you! See now here is a man with impeccable taste.’ He smiled elevated by the compliment.

'For a blind person.’ Holt continued characteristically loud.

*Cue Brooklyn Nine Nine Theme Music*

The rest of the day doesn’t get any better. They all promptly remind him that his glasses are so bad they don’t even want to try them on. There are several instances of Rosa making old age jokes to him. Holding the door open for him, getting him ginger ale and whatnot. She even blew up their academy group by sending a picture of his frames.

'Not cool Rosa! I’ve officially lost all my respect for you!’ he’d thrown a tantrum. Charles had annoyed him all day by staring and wist fully looking at his old pictures resulting in Jake cuffing him rather than the perp. 'Imiss the baby browns okay Jake!’. Holt and Amy and Terry had been their own kind of awful.

But despite it all no matter how many times he took off his glasses  in anger to stash them in the drawer he’d always end up wearing them ten minutes later, cursing at the new thread of jokes it’d start, but thankful that he could actually see things rather than blurry shaped.

Maybe he shouldn’t have made so much fun of Santiago so long ago, after all.

I agree!!! This is what happened! I love it!!!! Maybe Jake whispers in her ear 'You look adorable.' with his characteristic little cute smile and Amy just has to kiss her amazingly handsome husband!!!

In my mind I think that during kissgate jake is actually whispering something into amy’s ear that’s just so funny or sweet or endearing that she just has to give him a small smile and then a short but tender little kiss uwu owo, I really think the entire time Charles was talking was much too much time for Amy to full on make out with her husband right in front of her boss?? The scandal !!! She’s a professional lady :)

You know what I love about the last ep - it shows just how similar Jake/Amy are. They are meant to be an opposites attract couple but they have so many common traits which makes them so amazing and their dynamic interesting/believable. Also they are getting more and more similar since they got together (e.g. Amy's BM joke) - as people would who have been together for years. Love it.

Yesss! That's so true Anon! Jake and Amy are so different at the beginning I was so sure nothing was gonna happen. How is an uptight, rule following cutie gonna fall for the office goof ball? But they did! And it's been so beautiful seeing it! Jake and Amy both have put soooo much work into their relationship, they've compromised, changed and sacrificed. And it's all because they truly purely love each other. And it's beautiful! ❤️ One of the most beautiful scenes for me in their relationship is when Jake says

'You're my dream girl.'

He says it to the same woman he's been making fun of for being nerdy and rule following for years! And that's what love has done to him.

OCD, stuck up, professional nerd is Jake Peralta's dream girl. Who would've thought, huh?

I feel like this pregnancy incident is going to be mentioned again when Amy tells Jake she's pregnant for realz.
