Prompt idea: bff-era japril takes a nap in her chief resident office (on that little Green couch she got from Craigslist)

make of that what you will 😂 No pressure I’m sure you’re probably super busy but this idea just popped in my mind

She has long resigned herself that her office is not really hers – it's also Meredith's, Cristina's, Alex's, Jackson's. The mini fridge is more often than not bursting with food she would never dare to eat, her desk chair is used to Cristina swiveling it when she's bored, and she thinks Alex uses this room as a hideout when the nurses are after him.

So yes, she's used to not being alone in the chief resident's office. And she would never tell them, but she kind of likes that it had become the general headquarters of the fifth years and that they often rally here between two surgeries. That doesn't mean she's used to falling asleep on her couch (bought on Craigslist and disinfected and washed by hers truly) with one of them.

Sure, she's tired after an 18-hour shift that ended with more paperwork than she's ever seen. Sure, she would not kick Jackson out, not when her best friend has bags under his eyes and looks like he would crash his car into traffic two minutes into his drive. Sure, they've slept in the same bed on different occasions, when she discovered after the shooting that staying near him helped her fall asleep and calmed his nightmares. And sure, she could have predicted that collapsing on the couch and yawning would probably end with the both of them falling asleep ten seconds later.

Still, she's not used to emerging from a deep slumber and feeling his sturdy chest behind her back, or his arm slung across her stomach, as if protecting her did not stop when they slept. She's not used to feeling this warm and peaceful when waking up. She's definitely not used to sighing and snuggling herself even deeper in his embrace, feeling his grip tighten as she does so.

(She's not, but a little voice in her head that she quickly dismisses tells her that she could, in fact, get used to this.)

One thing she's sadly definitely used to is being interrupted by a sneering voice making fun of her.

"I knew you had it in you to do it at work like the rest of us, Kepner!"

Her eyes open in a panic, and she feels Jackson stir behind her. Now, how she's going to convince Alex not to open his mouth and blab about what he just saw to the whole hospital, well, she has no idea.
