It has come to my attention that many people mistake wyverns for dragons, so here’s a post to help you remember

Dragon: 4 legs, 2 wings

Wyvern: 2 legs, 2 wings

Drake: 4 legs, flightless

Wyrms: long snake like body with no appendages, can also appear as a traditional Chinese dragon with 4. Legs and no wings yet can fly

Amphithere: 0 legs 2 wings, can be feathered

Lindwurms: 2 legs, 0 wings, long body

Luck dragon: 4 legs, no wings, can fly, long body, furry with dog like face

Komodo dragon: 4 legs, no wings, real

Bearded dragon: 4 legs, 0 wings, often kept as pets

Fun fact: Gender and Sex are both human made constructs designed to describe natural phenomenon but are not actually based in any biological reality. Much like the concept of “species”, it’s a model, and no model is an actuality - then it would not be a model, it would be a fact. 

In truth sexual characteristics are diverse and varied and do not always match up with sex chromosomes; also, a sexual “binary” of sorts is not constant amongst all living things, and most organisms have other systems of reproduction. 

Furthermore, gender is the suite of societally-defined social roles and behavioral characteristics that is typically assigned based on the externally perceived sex of a child; and does not actually have anything to do with biology - even less so than sex. Even though it is assigned based on this externally perceived sex, a person’s gender does not have to remain with the one assigned; much as we don’t determine people’s careers based on who their parents were anymore, your birth has no limitation on who you are and what gender identity you construct for yourself. Since it is a societally defined construct, people can and do construct more than the two traditional ones, and all are valid. 

Just because you cannot handle your societally constructed worldview surrounding sex, gender, and genetics being dismantled by sociology & biology itself doesn’t mean, additionally, that you have the right to make other people feel unsafe and uncomfortable - in short, that you have the right to remove people from moral consideration - simply because you don’t like having your world view being dismantled. Believe it or not, the complexities of human behavior & the diversity of sex and reproduction in life cannot all be covered in a simple high school biology class. 

So next time you want to say “didn’t you pass biology” remember: a biology PhD student, who graduated from the University of Notre Dame with an actual degree in Biological Sciences, has reminded you that you’re wrong. 

There are more than two genders.

Every vote for Donald Trump requires two Hilary Clinton votes to overcome. A Hillary Clinton vote can only be overcome by two Donald Trump votes. You couldn’t be blamed for not wanting to read this; it’s pretty emotionally charged, and raw, and pretty... yeah. If you’re someone who is vulnerable concerning affection though, and you have the ability too, maybe listen to a little scare-mongerer spin a thread c:

Privacy is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself. OK, so those posts that you make saying ‘urgh, I just hate references to ambrosia!’ aren’t so subtle after a group ‘find the ambrosia reference’ session, but you won’t feel mega bad about them in a year, two years, three, a decade, half a century. You’ll probably look at them and go ‘...what the heck did I have against references to ambrosia..?’

What I’m talking about, rn, is something that I have a lot of experience with, and something that I really need to talk to you peeps about.

Please, stay dressed in photos. Keep RP platonic. If you’re webcamming with, or recording videos for, someone you feel strongly for, keep it PG-13. Keep your posts vague, and emotional content out of them.

I know and get that maybe you feel so little affection, maybe you feel so disconnected from your long distance partner(s,) maybe you feel so unloved or so unvalued, you will go to any length to have someone - anyone - tell you you’re sexy, or beautiful, or handsome. Personally, I’ve always found it gets worse in summer; long stints of time without stuff to do, and plenty of chances to go ‘eh, fuck it.’ And you know what? It does suck. It sucks when you try mega hard at specifically sexual relationships and get nothing back; it sucks when you don’t get told the stuff you want to hear about yourself; it sucks, really, truly sucks, trying to remember how awesome you are when you barely meet anyone.

But a) you will feel so much better in three years looking back and knowing you lived for you, and reasserted your awesome for yourself. b) you will be safer (you just will, trust me.) c) the reassurance you’ll feel when you fight through that and get yourself into the place you want to be? Where you see your awesome? That is so much more powerful, and awesome, than anything anyone else could ever give you.
