Alright, I'm sad now.

This stream today was great, yeah, no matter if you watched Techno, Wilbur, Philza, Dream or Tommy, they did their thing, much fun and all but.. Something was missing. And I mean, like, missing, missing.

Where was the typical get together voice chat? Am I being melodramatic? Like- yeah but no, I miss it. Tommy was silent at the end, Philza kinda left and Wilbur too. Did I overlook something? ;-;

It was a little weird for Bbh to announce that it’s okay for friends to say they love each other right after he and Skeppy said they loved each other ngl. Like yeah Bbh, we know, why did you feel the need to reaffirm that fact right now?

Talking to strangers is so easy. What's there to fear? You barely know them, yes, but neither do they, you most likely wouldn't meet each other ever again, they have no direct impact on your life.

Everything you fear talking about to friends or family you can tell a stranger because they won't care, they will forget, take maybe some sentences to think about, but the words alone will fade some day.

Friends though, they will remember, hold on to what you've said, they won't forget Even tho sometimes you wish them to.

I understand what both of you are trying to say however I'm not really on your side when it comes to Techno's part. No offense really, to you both, but I need to get this off my chest.

Techno may be an competitive player too and frankly can be very fixated when he sees a worthy challenge (Like the potato war) but when we break that down then I can safely say that he's an down to earth individual. The OP mentality on his part is something built up from the fanbase and him, over time and with hard work, he 'earned' it in that way. Which doesn't mean that dream didn't, but if we look at it then we all know that dreams success was much quicker and explosive than techno's.

The biggest problem is, like you've said, the fanbase.

If we compare the bases together then we can agree that there are many differences.

Techno's fanbase stuck around much longer, they learned to be happy with 3-6 uploads a year. It's like a commitment. They're okay with waiting and an upload means more to them duo to the waiting and rarity of it. He only recently got to 2 Mil subs slowly growing since good 13 months.

Dreams fanbase is relatively new, they get content weekly, which isn't wrong or bad, but the demand for vids just like the expectation are higher. He got to 6 Mil subs in good 5 months.

Now what I see here is that:

Techno's fans are ready to support him, which you see clearly in his stream chat, and most of them would be alright with him losing, yes sometimes they've done shit but those who've done that said 'commitment' will ultimately be there after that loss. They're more calm about it duo to the responsible way that Techno reacts to it.

Dreams Fans support him too, yes, but they're a mass, the ages ranging from children to even grown ups, They're more impulsive and you see that in the stream chat too. It puts pressure on Dream, there's no long time commitment and the quick sub count could easily drop again, on top of that like you've said he's defensive so his fans are gonna be too should he lose.

Now what I want to say with this is that dreams fanbase is a force to be reckoned with. I don't want to go as far as to say that dream has no control over them but it sways in that direction. Such a huge mob on a hate spree? It could end disastrous. Dreams not stupid, far from it, but the stress from all those expectations with such a huge fanbase is enormous. Especially if you count in on the 'rivalry' between the fans, many know that it's just a joke and such but those who don't are gonna count on every mistake the other does and will try to wear them down with it.

What's your opinion on that matter? :3

Dream is competitive. Dream hates to lose. 

Originally, these were traits I very much appreciated - his vids have him doing crazy challenges and he has a real drive to improve himself. One of my favourite things about the manhunt series is seeing how his skills have improved and how he thinks up strategies and implements them. They work because of how far he goes to win. 

But, increasingly, these traits have become very grating.

 It’s why on twitter his initial reaction to criticism is to be defensive and he struggles to admit when he’s made a mistake. Ironically, his defensiveness generally endears himself less to the fans than the preceding drama. 

It’s why MCC and MCU weren’t much fun to watch from Dream’s perspective. He gets so frustrated when things go badly that it ceases to be good watch. And has a tendency to blame his losses on things outside his control rather than accepting a loss with good grace.

It’s why I was a little irked at the one-sidedness of the conflict in the SMP war, because even in the server, he was so afraid of losing that he didn’t give the other side a fighting chance. 

It is rather poetic that his greatest strength is also his greatest weakness. Anyway, I really hope this attitude improves. I think he’s slowly getting a little better at dealing with fans, I expect he’ll be calmer in the next MCC and he did at least do the bow duel in the SMP. That’s something. It seems when its over, he’s okay at making amends.

This is a core trait of his, so it will never go away - I guess I just hope he learns to be less openly hostile as its coming to be a source of continuous drama which will gradually fracture the fanbase. It’s already happening - a lot of fans are now saying they’ve lost a lot of respect for Dream and these opinions are becoming increasingly common. 

As for myself? Well Dream makes a ton of good content, is very generous and is pretty good about helping out smaller creators. He’s not perfect but he’s far from entirely fake. You gotta take the bad with the good. 

(I do wish he would just get off twitter entirely though. It’s just giving him anxiety.)

- Techno laughs as he carries him around like that

- every time Techno goes out in public with Tommy or the two walk anywhere together, Tommy always whines until Techno finally gives in and carries him

- the two have a surprisingly good bond

- Techno teases Tommy a lot, but all Tommy does is laugh in response

- Tommy tries to intimidate Techno a lot, and Techno likes to act scared to make Tommy laugh

- Phil appreciates their close bond because it means that he doesn’t have to be with Tommy all the time

- Wilbur teases Techno about finally being caring about someone, Techno laughs it off

- Techno is the one who teaches Tommy how to fight and defend himself

- He’s the one Tommy goes to whenever hes scared of something

- Tommy really likes hugs. Techno doesn’t. Techno has to give, though, because Tommy is adorable and he will do whatever he can to make this small child happy-

I think that all artist have this one phase in their life. You know? This really important phase. And when I say important it's like really really important.

It's what I call the realization phase.

This phase can appear anywhere in the time of starting drawing, doodling to being an artist who has a moderate fan base and anything inbetween. Really, I'm pretty sure everyone has to have this phase at least once in their life, not just when it comes to drawing but all together any hobby you do.

It's the realization that no matter what hobby you do, you do it for yourself.

You're not doing it for others. Because that's a job.

As and example: you paint because you want to, because you want to give the pictures in your head life, want to give them a place in this world before they fade away.

I could do that with every hobby, really.

But right now I want to concentrate on the creating part, everything you create is like a child. Doesn't matter if you do it with wood, paper, digital or anything else. You construct them, shape them, create them and with every step you take, be it coloring or scratching details into a figure, you help them grow. And once you're finished it's like they're grown up, you put your heart into it and now you see what the results are, of course there are always some mistakes, some things that just catch you on the wrong foot but that's totally fine, cuz you still tried your best, you did it and it helps you learn and grow. Yes mistakes can be frustrating but you cant learn without doing them, you need them to get to the point of knowledge you want.

So please try to avoid comparing your work to others, because every project is unique, every style is unique and you need to find your own style. Comparing your work to people who did it longer than you, have more knowledge, more experience, is like putting a child into college and expecting them to be as good as the people who learned for years to get there.

Take the time you need to pick up that knowledge, a hobby should be fun and not forced by thinking that you need to match some expectations.

You do it for yourself.

Oh dear.

Can't we just accept that there can be more than one hero? Why do we have to compare them against each other? Both of them have done bad and good things, neither of them really knew how their future would play out.

Both of them can be heroes.

Maybe right now it doesn't matter what good deeds they've done, how they acted, what people thought of them or what their believes were.

Maybe right now it doesn't matter what they've lost, who they've betrayed or have been betrayed by, who they've hurt or protected, or what family they came from.

Sometimes what matters most is what they wanted to achieve.

And both of them wanted to see Voldemort down after learning about the consequences their actions can bring, both of them did what they thought was right and both of them paid with their life. Yes they took different paths in achieving that but it all boils down to that tiny spark of the same wish, to that little big hope of achieving something that could better the future.

It doesn't have to be one person who holds the title and claims the crown, I'm pretty sure both of them can sit on the same throne.

Isn't that enough to say that both of them are heroes?
