The hardest part about throwing out my back is the patience to get better before going full tilt back into everyday life. It’s taking every amount of self control I have this weekend not to pull out the pickaxe and shovel and work on the front flower bed. . Someone asked me a few days ago what my hobbies are and I said “CrossFit, Food, & Work” (yes I realize the irony of considering work a hobby) but I really should have put gardening on the list. At least right now. If I’m not daydreaming about which vintage mirror to put on what wall, I’m daydreaming about how to design my own Edwardian garden. . Granted, they probably weren’t planting okra at their villas in the early 20th century, but they were missing out on these gorgeous blooms and my favorite vegetable. (@jadepierce I think of you every time I see an okra bloom!) . support 👏 your 👏kids 👏stupid 👏interests 👏too👏
like yea they’re learning how to play the piano which is great and stuff but are you also supporting their sudden obsession with buttons? are you supporting their interest in that show they found that is kind ofstupid and silly but they watch it anyway because it makes them happy? are you supporting their new hobby of skateboarding even though it has a bad reputation?
interests don’t have to meet a standard of seriousness or important to be ok; they just have to make someone happy

Mental Health Relaxation Tips
Everyone gets overwhelmed and it’s important to know that it is completely normal.  There’s no need to blame yourself.  What matters is what you’re going to do to pull yourself out of this.  It’s difficult, yes, but in the end you’re going to come out of this a stronger, healthier person.
1. Hobbies You may have stopped doing something you love but you can always start it back up!  What’s your fancy?  Reading?  Grab an old book and start with your favorite chapter.  You don’t have to push yourself to read something new or something that will impart knowledge.  Find something that helps you get back into the groove.  Other examples include: cooking, cleaning, sewing, writing, and exercising to name a few.  Ultimately, do something to take your mind off of your troubles.  This can help you think more clearly and allow you to deal with life when you get back to it.
2. Physical fitness This might sound daunting but you don’t have to start running a mile every morning.  Some people love strenuous physical exercise but if that’s not your cup of tea then go with something small like stretching and a simple walk around the block.  Maybe start a short exercise routine you do before you shower.  The goal is not to get abs in 5 days.  The goal is to nurture yourself.
3. Food Are you nourishing yourself?  Feed yourself.  If you have time, cook for yourself.  A warm meal can lift your spirits.  Even if it’s a microwaved meal, it might help.  Remember that you need to take care of yourself no matter how you feel because you’re worth it.  And don’t forget your vitamins and minerals!  These play a huge role in your mental health.
4. Meditation This doesn’t have to be a deep, religious experience.  But you should take some time for yourself where you sit quietly and clear your mind.  It can help relieve stress and calm you.  Thinking through a problem when you’re stressed versus when you have a clear mind makes a world of difference.
5. Breath Take a few nice, long breaths.  Much like meditation, breathing exercises can help clear the mind and help you calm down.  Taking the time to slow yourself down and regroup can work wonders on calming your nerves.
6. Sleep Are you getting enough sleep?  Are you getting too much?  Both are an issue.  You need sleep to function.  Sleeping allows your brain to rest so you can focus on the things that you need to do the next day.  You’re like a computer.  You can’t be expected to run 24/7.  You need and deserve this break. As I’ve discussed in a previous post named “Depression Discussion” alterations in sleep could be a sign of depression.  Please check that post to see the other criteria for Major Depression and related topics.
All in all, if you’re feeling down, do something to make you happy.  A pick-me-up specifically for you.  And if you feel like you need help, please speak to a therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist.  There’s absolutely nothing wrong in seeking professional help and we as a society need to stop seeing mental health as a taboo and speak up about it.

I think that all artist have this one phase in their life. You know? This really important phase. And when I say important it's like really really important.
It's what I call the realization phase.
This phase can appear anywhere in the time of starting drawing, doodling to being an artist who has a moderate fan base and anything inbetween. Really, I'm pretty sure everyone has to have this phase at least once in their life, not just when it comes to drawing but all together any hobby you do.
It's the realization that no matter what hobby you do, you do it for yourself.
You're not doing it for others. Because that's a job.
As and example: you paint because you want to, because you want to give the pictures in your head life, want to give them a place in this world before they fade away.
I could do that with every hobby, really.
But right now I want to concentrate on the creating part, everything you create is like a child. Doesn't matter if you do it with wood, paper, digital or anything else. You construct them, shape them, create them and with every step you take, be it coloring or scratching details into a figure, you help them grow. And once you're finished it's like they're grown up, you put your heart into it and now you see what the results are, of course there are always some mistakes, some things that just catch you on the wrong foot but that's totally fine, cuz you still tried your best, you did it and it helps you learn and grow. Yes mistakes can be frustrating but you cant learn without doing them, you need them to get to the point of knowledge you want.
So please try to avoid comparing your work to others, because every project is unique, every style is unique and you need to find your own style. Comparing your work to people who did it longer than you, have more knowledge, more experience, is like putting a child into college and expecting them to be as good as the people who learned for years to get there.
Take the time you need to pick up that knowledge, a hobby should be fun and not forced by thinking that you need to match some expectations.
You do it for yourself.

There are times when even the least expressive individual needs to vent out and let others know what they’re actually feeling. When it comes to me, I think Im very expressive anyways and I still find the need to put it down in words and pour out what’s broiling up in me. Talking to family, friends or a professional are ways people find comfort in talking their mind out, sometimes they let go off of toxic ideas and sometimes hold on to a deeper meaning. writing it down does the same for me. I see these words that fall out of my mind through my hands onto the paper and the ideas are much more realistic than they had been in my head.  I hold on to some things I write that make me realize there’s more to come and there are some things I write I don’t ever want to look back to because the words are nothing but a form of pain and suffering on paper. Maybe you do and maybe you don’t but I strongly believe in mental health. When we say we find comfort on something or peace of mind in something we do, we refer to nothing but our mental health. Things that make us feel at ease are things that help us improve our thinking, help us reflect on certain aspects of our ideology that could be harmful and often dangerous.  It could range from singing, dancing, working out, reading, writing, studying a favourite subject to learning a new language or gather more knowledge about a topic you know nothing about. All these things and more are a vital part of who we are, these are what we call hobbies, activities that make us happy. An individual retains his/her individuality through these hobbies. We as people of an understanding generation that make up majority of this society need to understand ones likings and dislikes and not hinder with a persons opinions, judgements and preferences so as to maintain a healthy, liveable and above all an accepting place to be in.

Hi - I’m Scared
I just started doing a YouTube channel where I do gaming commentaries and I’m just scared considering I’m a cis-gendered bi woman playing games. Obviously there is going to be negative comments regardless, definitely something I have to accept.
It’s just such a breath of fresh air from my old fast food job, I’m 24 and I finished my degree but due to Covid everything I worked hard for, especially for my second job got canned. I do also recognize the privilege I have to fall back onto a job while the economy is going downhill and I fully sympathize, have a chat with me either in my dms or comments down below
The channel I made, has made me so happy so far and I hope it continues (me being happy).
I was just hoping to meet other gamers/lgbtq+ small youtubers/twitch streamers like me in the same situation (just starting out type thing). Any advice when starting out? Was there anything you wish you could do over?
Lets be friends!
