If anyone ever mean or nasty to you one of the kindest things you can do is make the charitable assumption that they’re acting this way because they’ve been treated this way. You don’t have to put up with that treatment either, but if you hit it back with equal vitriol you’re only creating more anger in the world and likely confirming in their mind the negative biases they have towards people.
It takes a lot of strength to be kind, to be gentle, try to be an example to others and maybe they’ll learn from you.
