I’m so emotional about dinosaur stuffed animals,,, there are these creatures, extinct long before any of us were alive, but we found their bones and their eggs and their footprints. And we made drawings and models of what they could’ve looked like. And we made them into stuffed animals so we could hold them. We made them soft so we could love them. I’m sobbing
I know "60s housewives who invented slash fanfiction" has taken on a life of its own as a phrase, but Kirk/Spock didn't really exist until the 70s and THOSE WOMEN HAD JOBS. They were teachers and librarians and bookkeepers and scientists and they damn well spent their own money going to conventions, printing zines, buying fanart and making fandom happen. Put some respect on their names.
Quite frankly my biggest gripe with new Star Wars projects, Ahsoka in particular (besides the anti Jedi stuff) is the idea anyone can be force sensitive. When we're first introduced to the concept of Jedi, it's a rare ability to listen to and use what's basically the living energy of the universe. We learn pretty much every Jedi (and that point the only established Force sensitive faction besides Sith) has been wiped out.
We learn more about the Jedi and other factions, how in a galaxy of trillions upon trillions, these factions COMBINED wouldn't be a significant portion of the population. That at the peak we see, there were 10,000 Jedi Knights, even if we're kind and say that's only those who hold that title and it doesn't include Padawans, initiates, healers, etc that's maybe 15,000 Jedi total.
People could be sensitive to the Force, as Han Solo is implied to be with his luck, or have mild abilities, but that was rare, being able to fully connect? Even rarer. A whole premise of the Force is that being able to use it is a rare ability that often made you a target.
It also doesn't make sense for the Jedi, overall. If anyone can full on use telekinesis if they try hard enough, then why reject anyone? Especially since it's referenced in the prequels that there simply aren't enough Jedi Knights to protect and serve the galaxy as they want to. If with enough effort anyone can do it, why not just accept anyone willing to do the work, especially if they're a longer lived species, plenty of time to work hard enough to be one a Knight. The Jedi are happy to share their knowledge with anyone, it wouldn't make sense for them not to try teaching apparently non Force Sensitives to try using the Force. You can't tell me AHSOKA is the only one to realize it.
Also a character doesn't need the Force to be cool or powerful, or even to use a lightsaber.
