The Korean Empire and the End of the Monarchy [Korean History 50]
In this video, I will focus on important events that occurred at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century in Korea; more precisely, the end of the Joseon Dynasty 조선 and the whole history of the Korean Empire (Daehanjaeguk) 대한제국 (1897-1910). Donggwanwangmyo (shrine) 동관왕묘 built in 1601. An ancestral shrine where sacrifices were performed for general Guan Yu 관우 關羽 who lived during the Chinese Three Kingdoms period. His life was popularized in the historical novel The Romance of the Three Kingdoms 三國演義.
