That’s a very interesting view @vwry
It could explain why people have issues unmasking too. They’re so used to be someone they’re not to the point where they don’t know or how to be their true selves.
I’ve have this issue for most of my life. I don’t even know how to unmask. Even if I did, I think it would push people away due to my social difficulties and my weirdness.
Why self-diagnosed autistics are valid
medical diagnosis can be expensive
humans are the experts on their own minds
family may prevent assessment
diagnosis criteria is a poor checklist of stereotypes
diagnosis criteria ignores gender, race, sexuality, culture & more
medical diagnosis confirms autism, but doesn't create it
discrimination within the medical profession may prevent diagnosis.
Assessment waiting lists often long
medical trauma may make assessment unfeasible

Hi everyone,
This person here needs help. They’re close to being homeless. Anything would help. If you don’t have any money to give, please reblog to spread this around.
Thank you for your support
Please help me. My name is Shirley. I am autistic and disabled. I ran away from my abusive parents a few years ago. I’ve been moving from place to place. A couple of months ago I was able to find my own apartment. Things went downhill when I was fired from my job. It has been very difficult for me to find employment due to mental health issues. I have been transferring money out of my credit card to my debit card in order to pay my rent. I also have to pay interest. This time, I’ve really hit rock bottom. My credit card is about to be maxed out and I could get evicted. I don’t think I could survive out in the streets.
Please donate or reblog if you are not able to donate but would like to help. It would mean a lot to me if you could donate or share the link to my GoFundMe. Thank you so much

That sounds very helpful @powerrangersystem!
PSA: If you are one of the few autistic people who work in an office (this would probably help ADHD people too), get yourself one of these in addition to your office chair. It is amazing for stimming at the desk while I'm doing work and it is socially acceptable at most workplaces.

My father has been pushing me around about my eating habits and how little I eat.
However, counterpoint: I do not feel hunger cues. Or at least I feel them very rarely.
As a kid this was fairly easy to monitor. Because we had routine meals and even if my texture/sensory issues were acting up and I was punished for it, sometimes we did midnight snacks! Which was fantastic until that was forbidden.
We stopped having routine meals around the time I turned twelve and we moved to a new place.
Now I have no idea how to schedule meals + everything else I have to do On Time, or else.
Help?
Hi there,
It sounds like you have some interoception issues. This means you are having trouble understanding what you feel inside your body. Like hunger or feeling thirst.
Edited this to include an article about this in case people are wondering what it is:
Have you tried eating some snacks throughout the day? It might help. You can eat small meals during the morning, afternoon, and evening. I don’t think it matters what time you eat. As long as you’re eating meals.
Maybe my followers can provide some advice and tips too.
I hope this helps. Thank you for the inbox. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. ❤️

Hi! ive been wondering for a while if in autistic, ive made my research on it and it really seens like i am. ive finally talked to my therapist about it and we are discussing searching for a neurologist. i wanna be prepared to see the neurologista, what is it like? what do they usually do and etc? im really curiosa and i love your content!
Hi there,
Things have changed since I’ve gotten diagnosed back in 2009. So I have no idea how the process works now. And I saw a Psychiatrist, not a neurologist.
I do see a neurologist for seizures. But not autism itself.
The CDC has some information about the process.
Hopefully my followers can help too.
I’m sorry I couldn’t help. But I appreciate the inbox. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. ❤️
