Another way to live together.
Is it possible to be oneself as it is and to be in accordance with each other, without control or rules, just by trusting each other's goodwill? Is there any other possibility of being together, of living together and still feeling free and alive? Is there an exit from self-repression and control mania...
Like Nazım Hikmet once said:
Yaşamak bir ağaç gibi tek ve hür ve bir orman gibi kardeşçesine...
(To live sole and free as a tree and to live fraternal as a forest)

Problem of Scale
Now that i am reading on sustainability and architectural design, i wonder if every concept can be functional on every scale? Does the same design approach work for every building type from micro housing to masterplan?

Competition vs Solidarity
The culture of competition and the legitimacy of being the winner diminishes any chances of solidarity, fraternity and sharing. For having a first that is slightly better than others, we ignore and exclude the bigger half. And than we start to search again, there is a new competition for a solution again and than there is the winner and there is blindness again... we create our vicious cycles to waste our lifetime.

Back to Basics
When something is too complicated, too long, nor good or bad and the direction is lost; maybe it is better to go back to basics. I’ve avoided going back because I did not want to give up all the things that I have gained in the process. However if there is something missing in the basics, everything I have turns into my own prison rather than my improvement.

The Love Bond
Don’t be afraid to have bonds and love anyone or anything; because even if they are gone, the love you have for them returns to you and love doesn't leave you.

Bernard Rudofsky & José Antonio Coderch /// La Casa (Rudofsky House) /// Frigiliana, Málaga, Spain /// 1968-1972 Of Houses guest curated by The Intertwining (Paula V. Álvarez Benítez, Nuria Álvarez Lombardero, Álvaro Carrillo Eguilaz, David Arredondo Garrido, Francisco González de Canales, Vincent Morales Garoffolo and Juan Antonio Sánchez Muñoz): “Frigiliana is not only a perfect display of the world Rudosfky captured in “Architecture Without Architects”, it also draws on certain shortages of his liking, like the hypnotizing decline the village was in the 1970s. Tuning in his intervention with this unique vernacular environment, he reclaimed pleasure and knowledge as key construction materials. This is can be seen in details like the removal of the backs of the seating areas, converting them into horizontal surfaces, some of which he would call “Morning sunbath” or “Evening sunbath”. In addition, Rudosfky developed different eco-centric tactics, such as using, in his drawings, a similar legend to describe an olive tree or a room, or by articulating the rooms through radically orthogonal paths, measured out with clay tiles, recalling the natural field. A hedonist sense was also accomplished through the use soft materials and ephemeral situations such as the swimming pool canopies, the summertime mosquito-net rooms which colonize the pergola, the rugs, the stools, the shadows… Even the reed blinds constructed by his wife, Berta, who in some ways activated Bernard Rudofsky’s domestic imaginary, take part in this performance of details.” Text: Álvaro Carrillo Eguilaz. Take a look at this little book I just made out of my Tolkien illustrations!
Handbound, sized A5, layout completed in inDesign and printed with my trusty old Epson, on a slightly textured natural white paper. Covers are some old boards I found, wrapped in linen fabric from one of my abandoned garments, blotchily re-dyed and glued on by yours truly.
(All my Tolkien illustrations can be found over here.)
