"Daddy's angel," polaroid

Mod AU. Brienne's older brother, Galladon, took this picture of his 11-year-old sister right before she punched him in the gut to shut him up about her black eye. He had been bothering her for the fun of it, and her reaction made him both cry in pain and satisfied laughter. Years later, when she turned 18, Galladon took it out of his box of mementos and gave it to her before she left for university, as a goodbye gift. Behind the picture, he'd written her age, the year he took it, and how he'd titled the picture. It was his proudest achievement, he claimed. Brienne kept and treasured "Daddy's angel" for the rest of her life. Everyone who saw it on her mantelpiece smiled, Galladon most of all. Brienne, he always said, may have been the first one in the family to get a degree, but he had been the one who first captured her essence. Brienne never disagreed.
