Andy had been advised by the program’s designers not to select the option “flood” prior to creating the portrait of Debbie as the software was faulty. Deliberately (and cheekily) ignoring their warning, he immediately selected “flood” which leaked yellow down the entire right side of his creation. “Now, this is an instance of a leaky flood-fill,” an Amiga representative on-stage with Andy and Debbie immediately blurted out, followed by nervous laughter. “Well, this is kinda pretty,” Warhol replied. “I think I’ll keep it.” Additional digital art Andy created using his personal Amiga home computer was lost for decades and then re-discovered on two floppy disks in 2014. These works included digital renditions of his famous Campbell’s soup can, a Warhol flower, a banana, a self portrait, and a looping pre-gif video image of Marilyn Monroe which he entitled “You Are the One”. Debbie Harry still owns her 1980 Warhol, and she recently wrote in an op-ed for ArtNet: “I’ve lived with that Andy Warhol portrait for a long time now, so I’m much more used to it, but seeing all these portraits of yourself for the first time, by an artist who was so important to you, was startling. I guess I was just stunned. And humbled. The portrait itself has taken on a life of its own – reproduced countless times and exhibited in numerous galleries worldwide. I still have that original Warhol. I can’t imagine parting with it.”

Alexandra Daddario photographed by Adam Franzino for FLAUNT (2024)
“You see the difference when you can make someone feel something,” she shares. “I love the idea of all the work I had to put into finally being able to express myself, where you can have that freedom. I can tell people my sad moments, and I can express myself emotionally in front of people.”
