I hope you’re all hungry! Today we have our first offering of fics for the Frot Cot Food Blog Flash Fic Fest. For this fest, our chefs were challenged to create works in the form of food blogs, and they have delivered scrumptious offerings for your tasting pleasure.

For your first course, some comfort food from Chef @xalandrix in Harry Potter and the Soup that Fixes Bad Days, featuring the healing properties of soup (or is it a stew?) and first-hand experience from Harry on tips and tricks to prepare this bowl of warm comfort. 

For the second course, a spicy creation from Chef @hoko-onchi-writes featuring Draco Malfoy as a renowned chef winning his man’s heart in the most classic way in How to Win a Man in Three Meals (or Less). Better Ron than someone who’d plant something horrific to get Draco sent to Azkaban—or some pervy Potter fanatic who’d spend the whole hour sniffing the dirty clothes on Harry’s bedroom floor. Even though Ron had to take Polyjuice and break into their flat to do it, Harry and Draco would understand. They’d appreciate it. And if Ron had done more “investigating” and less “snogging his best friend while Polyjuiced as said best friend’s secret boyfriend”, maybe it would have all been fine.

He freezes at the clearing. 

So accustomed to this feeling now, he doesn’t even notice that his breaths have hastened rapidly, tears glass over eyes that are barely blinking. A fresh ache sits between his ribs, the scar on his chest dull with reawakened pain and when it does start to sink in, he feels his heart pounding fiercely, trying to break free, reminding him that he still stands, very much alive. 

His limbs move without instruction, and he kneels on the forest floor, palms shaking as—slowly, he feels for the ground. Under his fingers lie gnarled twigs, dried leaves and clumps of earth pushed up by roots underneath. 

A tear rolls down his cheek, then another, gathering at his chin. He sits back on his heels, palms flat against the cold ground. Silence wraps around him but inside, it calls louder than ever before, enough for him to scrunch his eyes closed, blood thumping in his ears. 

It belongs to him. It will find him.

Earlier in the week, Percy had suggested a quiet evening of drinks and nibbles to celebrate his birthday, so of course Molly’s delegates jobs to everyone in the house, insisting it be cleaned from top to bottom.

Leaving Harry and Ron in charge of the cake was probably a bad idea, which they told her for the third time as they sat in the garden letting the smoke waft out from the house. 

Percy picks out a Glenn Miller record for the turntable, which Ron spends the entire duration complaining about before quietly switching it for Aerosmith. 

Charlie spends most of the evening schmoozing with Percy’s friends. Harry watches from the living room, stuffing miniature cheese pastries into his mouth in an attempt to appease the irrational sting of jealousy.  

Occasionally, Charlie glances across at him, firewhiskey in hand. His fingers tremor slightly against the glass. He must be aching for a smoke, which could explain why he slips out into the garden moments later. 

Harry follows him.

Hi E, for the word game I'd love to know if you've used break, clean, or finger!

“I know you think you’re nothing, Draco,” Potter says, tilting into Draco’s view, “But you matter to me.”

They kiss again, deeper this time. Potter is smiling against his lips, his hold on Draco reassuring him that he has no intention of letting go. 

And when they break apart, Potter’s face is flushed to match his smeared, reddened lips. It’s funny seeing him like this, Draco thinks, when the veil of dominance slips and the gentle caress of Harry appears underneath. 

“You’re telling me you’ve never been kissed before?” Potter whispers, nuzzling against Draco cheek, his words a breath against the shell of Draco's ear. 

Draco shakes his head, closes his eyes, and exhales softly. “Just you.”
