Hey my dear hearts, this is my 2020 box. I started making little boxes for each year in 2016, because I somehow used to get sad on New Year's Eve.  Mostly remembering the bad things that happened, because somehow those things tend to have sticky claws that seemingly cling to you, long after the event passed. On January first (or maybe sometimes a few days later, because I'm lazy) I sit down and craft a little paper box. Over the course of the year, whenever something particulary funny happens, I write it down and put the tiny piece of paper into the box. But there's not just funny things in there. I also write down things that made me happy and things that I'm thankful for. It's not just things and events though. It's also people. I think I might need to make a second box for 2020 , because it's almost stuffed already! Maybe, it's because this has been a particulary difficult year, in which my eyes needed to stay glued to the good things. It surely is one of the reasons, but I think another really REALLY gigantic reason is, because I met a wonderful bunch of marvellous, downright gorgeous - inside and out - people. My neighbours - just joking (because I secretly call the old lady next door Cruella). I'm of course talking about you! Truly a bit sorry for this ba[r]d joke. But just a bit. What I mean to say is, that the past months were taxing times - and that there will probably be quite a few harsh months ahead, before things go back to whatever qualifies as something like "normal" these days. But you made it here till today - and not just that- You've helped people like me with being these astonishing hearts, who beat so much stronger than you might perceive yourselves to be. You are magnificent and make me laugh and smile and as of this moment, make my heart swell with happiness, because I'm thinking of the memories you gifted to me. Thank you.  Who knows what the next months have in store, but on new year's eve, when I'm sitting down to look at all those good memories 2020 has haphazardly thrown in vague direction of my head, I'll be able to think of you and smile. And I know my heart will swell just like it does now. What I really mean to say with aaalll of this long blabla is: Thank you and please don't ever forget how special you are (because you are). Oh! And I found the cheese button. I don't know who turned it on, but I'll shut it off now! What I’m Meant For

Geralt barely has time to cross the Inn threshold before a big looking man accosts him. He’s been riding for three days since his last hunt, he’s tired and starving and really wishes he could have a hot bath before someone sets him on another meaningless drowner hunt, for the third time in a row.

“Ah, Witcher you’re finally here!”

“Why? Do you have a contract for me?” Geralt asks, a little annoyed.

“No, I don’t. But we’ve got your bard! We’ve been waiting for you to collect him. Well… no, not exactly. Maybe, just talk some sense into him? He’s been trying to leave this morning, we’ve nearly had to tie him to the bed!”

“My bard?” Geralt asks, too startled to answer anything else.

“Yes. Aren’t you the White Wolf? The Witcher who travels with a famous bard? He’s here, upstairs. Wants to leave but he’s in no condition.”

Geralt’s heartbeat picks up a little.

“Jaskier is here? What happened to him?” he stammers, looking up as if he could find Jaskier through the ceiling, barely stopping himself from running up the stairs.

“That fool went at it with a couple of thieves right out of town. Gave time to my niece and her friend to escape back to the village to tell us what had happened. By the time we got there, they were already gone and the bard was lying half-dead on the ground! But I gather he gave as good as he got, there was plenty of blood around that wasn’t his.”

“Fuck,” is the only thing Geralt can say, a cold shiver making his way down his spine. His eyes travel back to the innkeeper.

“We got him back to the village and put him in one of the rooms here. Our healer has been taking care of him. He slept through the night and the next day. He woke up last night for a little bit and again this morning. He was pretty adamant he needed to leave and put up a fight when we wouldn’t let him go but in the end, he couldn’t walk for long alone anyway. He’s been sleeping on and off since noon, my wife’s been checking on him.”

“How bad are his injuries?”

“The healer says he’ll live, he just needs rest. They kicked him and beat him pretty good. He’s got a couple of deep cuts, ribs are in a bad way but he’ll be okay. He’s a tough one. The girls said he fought tooth and nail to save them. They took all his money. His clothes were all over the ground but we recovered everything we could from his pack. Don’t really know if he had anything of value with him they might have taken thought.”

“His lute. Did they take it?”

Had the best kind of Monday with Cora (@cookies-and-gin) (-> does this make sense when I’m reblogging? Well, who knows). She’s a real treat, in person just as much as in written word! And the afternoon flew by - sadly time didn’t slow to let us play, but it was *searching through my mind for a follow-up pun* ....hmmmmmarvelous!! It was so wonderful to talk about TAD, the dear hearts and just everything - fantastic wine, home-made quiche and most importantly amazing company. Thank you - and may this just be one of many dear heart meetups! Cheers to all of you, who weren’t there in person, but in our hearts!

Yesterday I finally met up with Shari (@poetastic). She is just as lovely as you would think she is when you are in the groupchat. It was abso(Lute)ly fantastic. (I apologize for that terrible pun). We had a picnic in the park and later went to a winebar- we we're a little drunk. Luckily we skipped the whole "meeting-for-the-first-time-is-awkward-part. Of course we toasted to all you dearvils♥️ Hopefuly one of comes to Hamburg one day. We'll be glad to show you around.
