can mirio read lips?
I'm thinking of the scene where he first met deku (:ominously emerges from wall: “Trash right?”) and seemed to have no trouble holding a convo with him despite his ears very much being in “permeation” state at the time
as we know when his quirk is activated over parts of his body he loses all sensory input form them, and his ears are definitely in the ground here so logically he shouldn’t be able to hear deku at all. yet he responds verbally to statements from deku for a decent portion of time.
Also tbh it would be a totes practical skill for a hero to master either way

when the dekusquad got to see power loader and subsequently meet hatsume, Iida mentions “making adjustments to his radiator”
this sparked at least two theories on its own i regret nothing.
one. more of mutation based quirks - in particular mechanical based ones.
How much can Iida mess with his own engines?
can they be retrofitted to do different things? he produces his own fuel so that doesn't seem to be to much of a limit, rather his main drawback comes from overheating the metal components of his leg.
does he have to manually replace worn out parts?
two. Does Iida know how to fix engines or does he see a quirk specialist?
mostly I’m thinking “Iida stans lets get some mechanic Iida content out there”

If shinso mind controls you to play the flute what level do you play at?
Tumblr media
Like is it you’re skill level, his skill level, a janky puppet skill, or like just magic mastery?
If he made you play it often enough would you get better at it in none mc mode? Like he could prank you by having you play go to bed and forget then like 3 months down the line be like “Hey check out what you can do!” And you can just fucken play the flute now???
Can he make you correctly solve maths? Cause I know a guy who’d appreciate that
Tumblr media
It’s me, I’m so obtuse about maths

back on my when will katsuki’s tie return from the war bull shit
theory no 2:
Bakugo wears loose, baggy clothing to increase air flow in civilan clothing
his sweat explodes people
high grade washing machines are expensive
and it would explain why he never really gets called out on it
various other people have variations of the uniform to account for quirk related things
again either this or hes trying too hard to have a bad boy aesthetic to cover up the fact he goes to bed at 7

Ok so Quirk Theory: if all quirks are based on genetics, shouldn't activation zones be random? (confusing but bear with me) how is every quirk triggered or activated only from hand-to-skin contact? Like shigaraki only dissolves things that touch his hand? I mean if quirks are all random bc genetics and punnet squares ig then shouldn't these "activation squares" be ANYWHERE on the body? Like "yeah I can incinerate things but only if they touch my left ass cheek"??? Idk if I'm making any sense...

Or does the food she make with her quirk not work like regular food? I'm thinking too hard about this. (2/2)
and in theory there should be nothing stopping her from making food (2/2)

Note
Momo's quirk from BNHA, can create things, right? She uses her "energy" of her quirk to make food; Could she then eat it and get the same amount of "energy" back? Does making it take more "energy" than it does to "charge" herself up by eating it? If it's the last thing, if she's in the middle of a battle, couldn't she just,,, like find somewhere to hide and make herself a snack to get her back up to peak condition and keep making stuff to fight with?
omg I havent checked my inbox in pretty much ever and this is such a good point
I think it would depend on how high energy the food was and how quickly the energy would get into her system tbh (1/2)

I actually have no clue who could be the traitor
all the ideas I have come from excessive hours of scrolling on the tag
but
I do know who would hurt the most
both for us and for Izuku...

Shigaraki’s Quirk
(This post does not include any images from chapter 236 in consideration of people who may be affected by the extreme violence presented in the chapter.)
So. Chapter 236 was b r u t a l.
But it also made me think.
People have pointed out previously that Shigaraki’s quirk appears inconsistent across the few times we’ve seen it in action, and this chapter only makes those inconsistencies more apparent. (The biggest question being, how could it be possible, knowing how his quirk works, that his family’s hands could be left intact?)
How can turning your family into bloody chunks be the same quirk as turning people to dust?
At the beginning of this arc, many people were thinking that Shigaraki’s quirk, like Toga’s, had been “leveled up,” and that was how he was suddenly able to decay multiple people at once and crack the ground under his feet. And that the reason for this power up was his emotional state.
With the most recent chapters, the idea that Shigaraki’s quirk is powered by his emotions seemed like a plausible theory, but I don’t think that’s quite it.
I think it’s less that his quirk is powered by emotions and more that until this arc, Shigaraki had only been shown using his quirk very deliberately. It’s less that his quirk has “evolved” or “powered up” and more that he’s finally letting loose without holding back. So it is tied to his emotions, but not in the literal sense. His exhaustion and anger mean he’s not being as careful as he normally is.
We know that he’s extra careful with his quirk, not just using four fingers to hold things, but using as few fingers as possible in many cases. Until this arc, he has  really only used Decay with specific intentions. Whether him holding back was intentional or a result of him suppressing his quirk due to trauma is still to be debated, but I think it’s likely a combination of both.
Shigaraki spent 15 years “training” with AFO, and he wasn’t playing video games the whole time. I think it took time and effort to refine his quirk. To convince Shigaraki that he was only meant to “destroy” and that his quirk was the perfect vehicle for that destruction. To simultaneously ingrain in Shigaraki the idea that when he loses control, bad things happen.
(Was AFO afraid that Shigaraki could “accidentally” kill him, too? It’s very likely, and so he had incentive to bury Shigaraki’s true power under layers and layers of manipulation.)
I say “refine” because I think the Decay that we’ve seen Shigaraki use up until this arc is the result of him training it so that the decay is finer.
Think of it like glass cracking.
Some glass, under pressure, cracks and breaks into large pieces. Big enough for you to pick up and recognize the shape it used to be.
Some glass, under pressure, cracks and shatters into tiny pieces that are so fine they’re almost dust.
Here’s a picture to illustrate my point:
Tumblr media
What we saw Shigaraki do to his family in 236 was like large, far apart cracks that spread out from the point of contact, and that’s how we got the chunks.
But over time, he refined it to the point where those cracks are super small, and that’s how we get the effect of him turning things into such small pieces that they appear to be dust.
And that’s why his quirk has appeared inconsistent over the course of the manga. It’s because his quirk is not only the distance or speed of the decay, but also the “size” of it.
And here’s the Wikipedia definition of “tempered glass:”
Tempered or toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the interior into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as plate glass (a.k.a. annealed glass) does. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.
So if tempered glass is treated in a special way to make it both stronger and safer, we can stretch this analogy to say that AFO essentially “tempered” Shigaraki’s quirk in order to make it not only more destructive, but also less likely to turn on AFO.
Please let me know your thoughts on this I threw this together very hastily because I wanted to get my idea out there.

Tododeku:
Lately, I have been re-reading Bnha and I found this scene quiet hilarious;
Tumblr media
Because, as you can see, Todoroki is standing beside Kirishima at that moment, relatively “far” from Midoriya or, at least, it would be difficult for Izuku to get where Todoroki is standing because of Iida between them and the fact that the space is as narrow as it is.
Tumblr media
And in this panel we see again that is not “error” from Horikoshi but in fact Kirishima is proper to Shouto than Deku is. But…
Tumblr media
What we see later on, however, is that Midoriya is the one standing on top of Todoroki!
I just laughed so hard at realising this litle thing…. Because I can picture the scene totally going like:
Todoroki: “I choose Midoriya”
Iida: “B-but… Kirishima is just next to you-”
Todoroki: “I want Mirdoriya”
Deku: “-sighs- Fine. Iida-kun, please, move aside.”
Iida: “HOW!?”
Or something like that idk lmao
This is something I haven´t seen people talking about but perhaps I’m wrong, excuse me if that’s the case, t’s only that I want to talk about it because I found it really funny xd

maybe bakugo doesn’t wear a tie because both he and deku were taught by the same person (bakugo masaru? WHO DOESNT WEAR A TIE EITHER!!)
and therefore do their ties the same wrong way and he refuses to be seen in a tie if it is not perfect
evidence: the only time we see him in a tie we know that kirishima was there

this ones probabaly anime specific but - during bakugo’s stryuggle he briefly communicates with deku using the slime villians giant mouth/face proving that for a brief time he had control of the slime villians body rather than what we assume would be the other way around if the slime villain had acheived his purpose
So then would it be possible for a victim of the slime villain to overpower the slime villain with sheer force of will and take control of their body/quirk?

Izuku’s blood type - least affected by stains quirk
Could it be because of his quirkless orgin? quirkless more likely to have that blood type?
Would this blood type resistance be specific to Stains quirk or would other blood type quirks have similar weaknesses?
For example is Toga’s quirk affected by blood type?
