The thing that makes the death of Tonks and Remus even sadder is the fact that they maybe didn't see each other before they died.

The readers didn't get to know if Tonks found Remus at all.

So imagine if she didn't, Remus' final moments would be thinking how his wife and child are at home and are safe.

But then, there was a chance Tonks died before she got to Remus so her final moments would be thinking how her husband would survive and take care of Teddy.

And if those scenarios didn't happen,

one had to watch the other die.

My Remus Lupin headcanons

— he's both a good loser and winner, unless you are good friends with him, then he turns out to be a bad winner

— he's an absolute tea addict

— his tea reflects his mood, when he's in a "dark" mood he usually drinks black tea

— he's actually pretty sarcastic at times and has a dry humor

— 90% of his clothes are brown

— he loves hugs, but is too shy to actually hug people

— his voice usually is husky and soft

— he only shouts when he's in a real rage

— he's very tall and quite skinny

— he always gets forced by Molly to eat more but somehow never really gains weight

— he despises white chocolate and pralines

— he's got a melancholy phase once or twice a month and it lasts for days if there's no one who helps him out of it

— he never shows his teeth when he smiles, he only marvelously curves his lips

— he chuckles a lot

— when he's distraught, he either paces or runs a hand through his hair

— he also sighs a lot

— he's a really great hugger

— after he fell in love with Tonks, his boggart changed into her corpse

— he's an utter gentleman

— he caries healing ointments with him the days after full moon, after he's met clumsy Tonks he always carries them

— he had several arguments with Sirius about whose drinking habits

— he doesn't really like heights that much, yet he's a decent flyer

— he's a dog person, most cats dislike him

— he owns a barn owl

— he's super patient

— he's superior at wandless magic

— he's an early walker

— he love Harry like a son

— he doesn't stomach alcohol that well

— he might be quiet, but usually his eyes speak volumes

— tho he loves chocolate he's not too fond of hot chocolate

— but Tonks always makes him some after full moons because she's bad at making tea, and he loves this

— he always wanted his patronus to be a lion and was very disappointed when it turned out to be a wolf since wolf means "monster" to him

— he usually convinced the marauders to sneak into kitchen past bedtime, the house elves always liked him a lot and even made sure his plate was extra well filled because he's so thin

— he tends to be somewhat rational when he's drunk

— he's an average dancer and loves to dance with Tonks tho she sucks at dancing

— he loves Tonks's pink hair

— he had depression from the events on Halloween 1981 until 1993 when he returned to Hogwarts, after he had to resign the depression sort of came back until he met Tonks

— he probably would've attempted suicide after Sirius's death if it wasn't for the order and Tonks he had to keep on fighting

— three words: cozy brown sweaters

— he's the one in the group who makes everyone feel welcome and appreciated

— after he married Tonks he occasionally called her "Mrs Lupin", not only to tease her but also because he was hella proud that she was his wife

— he can't cope with loss, he pretends to, but he really can't

— he would've wanted to be clingy around Tonks after full moons, but his inner doubts and self loathing always stopped him

— he prefers muggle chocolate over wizards chocolate

— he dislikes thunderstorms, he's not scared but the rumor tends to unnerve him around full moons

— he doesn't use spells to fix his clothes but simply patches the together to not pretend he's a 'sane, whole human'

— he only rolls up his sleeves in company of people he feels comfortable around

— he loves cooking together with Tonks tho she's a disaster in the kitchen

— he usually doesn't care about his own scars and scratches, but woe Tonks only has a tiny scratch, then he makes a fuss about it

— he's braver than he seems, even braver than he thinks

— he speaks with a small Irish accent, you hardly notice it tho

— he's the type of person who doesn't care about his birthdays

— he's good at cheering up people

After a full moon night.

Tonks never failed to take good care of Remus. She was to stubborn to let him push her away from fresh wounds and scratch marks. With a fresh cup of tea and bandages he felt comfort and a little bit of peace. After her care session she would hold him in her arms for at least half an hour.
