Oh my god THIS

LOVE the zelink art. Link is, in fact, shorter, so I just immediately pictured him standing on top of a decorative piece of stonework hidden behind Zelda's dress. Which is adorable

Hey. Maybe Zelda has pinned him against the wall so hard his feet got lifted off a bit. Or perhaps the royal guard's boots have some thick heels. I mean, It looks like riding boots🤔

But, in the post's tag, I said I'm not sure whether he is shorter. By which I mean there are instances where they made him look taller. (e.g. memory cutscenes)

It is confusing! It seems to me that Nintendo themselves haven't decided who is taller. It's not like there's an official height or something.

Better not think about this too hard. I'm just gonna draw them about the same height. Hope yall don't mind🙏

I got a feeling that Link had been uncertain about his ability to remember important things. Or even felt like he might forget something that matters, like, "I've forgotten all the things that were important to me before. What if it happens again?" So he tries to pay closer attention, committing every detail to memory. Sounds, smells, sensations, and all that.

It's especially true when it comes to Zelda.

AND if we incorporate reincarnation headcanon, which I have, he would be even more conscious about this. He can't recall everything from his past lives, and his squishy human brain has limited capacity. Painful memories tend to stick with humans more than happy ones, and his lives have been filled with tragedy. That's why he wants to pass on the small, happy pieces about the person he has loved throughout his lives, like the face she makes when sleeping or the sounds she makes when she's happy or upset, etc.

Hello I'm in love with Zelda's early design

We can see this leads to her final 'princess' design.

The dress looks similar, but her hair gives a more mature sense. Especially when her final design looks regal but youthful, caught between adolescence and adulthood, this version looks past that. Her tiara is bigger and points upward. The sides of the hair are tied and fall to the shoulder, framing her face. And back of the hair is done in a way that makes her look taller.

And the little details! Like how the line of shoulders falls or the shape of the neckline or the skirt with a train!! I really like this.
