Yeah cause they value profit over morals and think money and EAs lack of enforcement as a greenlight to blatantly break rules.

Just going to say this out loud...

If you have to create work-around methods so that your account isn’t at risk of being nuked by tumblr or patreon, PERHAPS you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place?

What do I mean by this?

1) Did you KNOW it’s against Tumblr’s TOS to post ad.f*y links? Particularly if you don’t announce that they’re ad.f*y and they’re misleading people?

Around 2016, this became a problem for quite a few sims creators, as evidenced by this post:

(As a note, I don't know if xmiramira still holds this view or not, so don't go at her for it. The main thing to note is that blogs were getting deleted for ad.f*y use.)

2) Did you know that if Patreon realizes you’re posting content you don’t have rights to, you can lose access to your account?

Why do I mention this?

Because paywall creators PURPOSEFULLY create work-arounds for these two rules. Particularly those who are abusing the community with adf*y as those links shouldn’t be remotely on tumblr.

Let’s use an example, shall we?

Here we have a really cute toddler outfit made by a sims 4 creator and shared on a tumblr post. If you click on the DOWNLOAD link, it takes you...to another site?

A site hosted on wix, with yet ANOTHER download link..which if I then hit...

.

YIKES. (It should also be noted that I didn't touch anything, and immediately something started downloading to my computer, which I stopped. Thankfully.)

But I want you to understand, that this creator is hosting the ad.f*y link OFF of tumblr, on their OWN site to get "around" tumblr's ban of adf*y.

I mean, the fact that tumblr itself has BANNED posting of ad.fly links should say something on its own. But the audacity of some creators to say "nah, I still want to give people viruses so I make money" is INSANE.

So let's talk about the patreon part of this problem, shall we? As I've talked about in previous posts (here, here), there are lots of "creators" who in reality are just glorified converters. They take models from 3D model sites, rip them from secondlife/imvu, etc, and then paywall them. Now conversion itself isn't a problem IF it is done ethically. The problem comes from the fact that that a majority of these creators don't do it ethically at all. After they have bought/ripped/stolen the model they want, they convert it to the sims 4 without contacting the site they bought it from, or the original creator to make sure this is okay. This breach of licensing is a big problem IF the original mesh creator finds out about it. Because that can lead to the patreon of the sims 4 creator being DMCA'd.

The sims 4 creators, then, have an issue if they know they're skirting this line. They want to offer their converted content, but they don't want to risk a DMCA of their Patreon account causing them to possibly lose it. So what do they do? They do something similar to the Tumblr workaround above and HOST THE CONTENT SOMEWHERE ELSE. So instead of posting the content directly in the Patreon posts where people can download it easily, they "send out" links to their content on other sites such as simsfileshare, or media fire to their patrons.

Patreon becomes a rolladex of contacts and a method of payment, rather than a host for the files. Any DMCAs are quickly thrown out by Patreon, as none of the copyrighted content is actually on their platform. In addition, it's harder for the original mesh creators to find where to submit an actual DMCA to get their stolen content taken down, as they don't have the direct links to the content.

I wrote this post so y'all can see how many hoops these people are jumping through to try to force you to pay for their content...ethics and rules be damned. The fact that they are literally having to create workarounds for situations like this speaks to the fact that they SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT that way in the first place.

These are the Mods I use in my game. Mostly these fix things, make things work better autonomously and/or create a functioning story progression. I do have a few that throw in cool things like extra types of parties, etc. You are responsible for the safety of your game. Make sure all Mods are up to date with the current patch before installing them. Always back up your game!

MC Woohoo - So that I can have same sex pregnancy, risky woohoo, autonomous woohoo, autonomous try for baby, etc.

What Mood Again? - I keep forgetting what incense, bath, tea, etc gives what mood. This mod displays what mood it will grant you when you select the item.

something weird

got auto logged out on my laptop. then it auto logged me back in with this username but somehow it had my old tumblr username which was deleted a year ago and would say im posting from this account but then post to the old one. had to log out and go and change the pass for this account then log in again for it to stop.
