Completely random thought, but I've always found it interesting how Kristoph's mad laughing sprite suddenly has his hair becoming kempt again, like it was originally drawn with the intention of coming before his big "WRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT" breakdown.

Is it just me, or is it very strongly possible that how powerful a Fey's spirit medium powers are is directly connected to how open their heart is?
Maya's defining characteristic is that she's got a big heart. She's goofy and bubbly, and she's emotionally mature enough that we know that being so is a choice for her.
Pearl is an innocent little kid with zero darkness in her heart who's always happy to help those she trusts with her seemingly boundless energy and who believes in fairytale romances despite living in a society where romance falls apart in 99% of cases.
Misty Fey, for whatever little time we get to see her, is a sweet and caring motherly figure.
But Morgan, the one whose spiritual dominance over the school was usurped by Misty despite being older, is a bitter old hag of a woman who was probably a snobbish bitch even before being usurped.
What if the reason Misty usurped Morgan is the same reason why Pearl is a prodigy in the field? Because the more open your heart is, the more spiritual prowess you have.
Kurain Spirit Mediums are meant to act as conduits for connection between the world of the living and the people long past, and to do so their job is quite literally to let spirits inhabit their bodies. It only makes sense that in order to do either of these jobs correctly their heart needs to be open and pure.

I can't believe they added a 5th case to the first game, that focuses primarily on the Detective police force, in which there's a reoccurring mechanic of taking fingerprints,
and yet the Policeman who dies in the next game, literally named "Dustin Prince," doesn't appear.

This just even further proves what I argued in my post about Suselle a while ago. Kriselle and Ralsusie's dynamics are much more natural and functional than the ones going on with Kralsei and Suselle.
The parallelism between Kralsei and Suselle is pretty obvious, and anyone who's paid even the slightest attention to the lore implications surrounding Ralsei can see that Kralsei is going to fall apart in the future if for no other reason than that Ralsei is meant to reflect Kris's adoptive older brother.
So, for Suselle to not only have parallelism with Kralsei but to have some of the same dysfunctionalities as Kralsei (with Ralsusie and Kriselle genuinely filling up the niches of the ships better than they do) strongly supports the notion that Suselle isn't the true endgame.
RALSUSIE REALIZATION MOTHERFUCKERS
the kind of relationship people imagine noelle and susie having is basically what ralsei and susie already have!
full of teasing
noelle playing the normal kind well-manner straightman to susie's antics
susie awkwardly blushingly making acts of kindness towards noelle or asking her for help/affection and trying not to seem "soft"
noelle making small acts of kindness which mean the world to susie
all of these fit ralsei and susie better than noelle and susie. susie does not tease noelle, noelle does not stand in the way of or even make mention of susie's shenanigans, susie hasn't made any acts of kindness towards noelle (not even a fucking non-canon valentine guys come on), susie only blushes around noelle like, one time? and it was because noelle embarrassed susie about her tail? and noelle's only act of kindness towards susie was buying her a box of fucking CHALK. something which susie is not only unflattered by, but actively upset about, because noelle had chalk the whole time, and didn't give it to alphys! buying her actual food would have been a kinder gesture, and would have shown a level of emotional maturity from noelle, to realize that eating things which aren't food is a sign of being hungry, and not having access to food, but no. chalk.
while the argument could be that they will progress into the kind of relationship ralsei and susie have, ralsei and susie are already there!
if suselle happens, i don't think it'll be like described. i think it'll be a lot different.
noelle, it seems, doesn't CARE who susie is as a person. she would be okay if susie just wanted to pick on her (in concept anyway) and is just as okay with her being a good person, or her eating chalk. noelle fawns over susie, but doesn't push her to change as a person. whatever susie wants to do is already fine. whatever susie likes is what she gets (even if it isn't what she needs.) susie is free from criticism. in fact, it seems to me like it'd be very similar to a certain other ship...
KRALSEI BITCHES
thats right! i think suselle and kralsei have very similar base constructions. one party treats the other with unconditional admiration and reverence, finds ways to excuse the behaviors they don't like about the other party, changes themselves to be whatever they think the other party would like, constantly wants to aquire the affection of the other party, blushes constantly around them, meanwhile the other party in question treats their behavior with indifference and confusion. a one-sided, unhappy relationship.
while there are differences here, like tea values and the difference between a horny lesbian crush and a master slave dynamic, i think there's a lot in common about what we've seen of noelle and susie together and what we've seen of kris and ralsei together. hell, they both get a slightly uncomfortable romantic carnival ride back to back, and while susie and noelle's ride has a happier conclusion of them just enjoying each other's company instead of awkwardly dropping the subject then engaging in real estate combat with rouxls kaard, its starting to seem to me like a parallel is being drawn.
further pushing this idea of a parallel is the fact that earlier, kris and noelle, and ralsei and susie go out on the town, so to speak! and things go. pretty well. unless you commit a lot of murder. assuming you don't commit murder, guess what! kris and noelle have a good time, and a pretty healthy happy dynamic! there's a lot of teasing, mutual respect, laughing, learning, thinking back on old times... they have a blast! in fact, they way they interact kind of reminds me of a certain other duo.
RALSUSIE YOU ABSOLUTE FOOLS
just like suselle and kralsei have parallels, so too do ralsusie and kriselle! one party is weird, dirty, mischievous, more competent than the other in combat, has some insecurity about themselves, likes teasing others and doesn't do well with emotional displays, and the other party is a lot more normal, well-mannered, less competent, but emotionally supportive, enjoys being teased and teasing back, and does what they can to show the first party that they care. noelle laughing along with kris, sharing chocolates with them, indulging them but not bending over for them, (like drinking poison, which noelle probably would have done for susie), looking to them for advice and safety in combat.
and what's more, you know what their healthy dynamic gets contorted into on a snowgrave route?!
THE PARASITIC MASTER SLAVE DYNAMIC FROM EARLIER!

I really wish narrative recontextualization of this nature was more common in media.
One particularly effective example of this I've seen is in the Five Nights at Freddy's series, Particularly Fnaf 4 and Fnaf World, and I think it's one of the most subtly brilliant storytelling choices I've ever seen.
Originally, the 3rd game in the series told a pretty basic story about saving the soul of Golden Freddy. You did so by going through minigames and finding the other spirits in some sort of spirit world that was filled with often nonsensical imagery. The player, at the time, wasn't really given any identity so all this was just presented as being the Puppet's doing.
Then, Fnaf 4 and World went back and completely recontextualized the entire quest. The protagonist of the 4th game is heavily symbolically presented as the Puppet and the once nonsensical imagery of the minigames is recontextualized into being from his memories. And World subtly but directly states that he was the protagonist of the 3rd game and set up Happiest Day.
On top of that, the Golden Freddy child is presented as having an especially close personal connection to the protagonist and is also established to have set up the paths he uses to save the others but neglected to set up one for herself, suggesting that she doesn't want to be saved.
The whole story becomes this child, who is heavily implied to have been friends with the spirits prior to death, returning 40 years later and saving them all, ending with the child whom he was closest with, despite her deliberate resistance to help. Expanding upon the original ending into something much deeper than it was, without really changing anything about it.
Idk if this is a sentiment that’s already been expressed, but one thing I really like about ninjago is the show’s ability to just… “recontextualise” certain things? Not really “foreshadowing” — that would imply a level of preplanning that just isn’t possible with the way the show is produced. I also don’t think it really fits into “retconning” either — I feel like a retcon completely changes established events/lore, and this isn’t quite that. Like, it specifically happens after the fact: something will happen in one of the earlier seasons, and then later, the writers will retroactively give that event more context. Not changing the event itself, but rather changing its meaning or how we’re supposed to interpret it.
The example that immediately comes to my mind is Cole’s flashback sequence from season 8. That flashback is taken all the way back from the pilots, and (from what I remember lol) it mostly existed just to establish some basic character traits: Cole climbs a mountain to test his own strength, cuz he’s the buff earth ninja. But then in season 8, this event is recontextualised as one of the ways Cole dealt with the grief over his mother. The writers took a scene that was originally kinda bare bones and basic, and then they refreshed it in a way that gave us new insights on Cole’s mental state. (Btw I love you season 8 you did so much for Cole’s character mwah I give season 8 a lil kiss <3)
I think it speaks a bit to the resourcefulness of the writing team; they could’ve made up an entirely different flashback and touched on the same topics, but instead they chose to use a scene that was already there. And even though there’s definitely instances of this happening where you could it’s lazy or making an unnecessary change (I’m NOT saying ninjago never retcons anything lol), it’s also led to some genuinely interesting bits of characterization and lore. It’s one of the few things I can unironically say is pretty cool about this show, writing wise.

A similar phenomenon exists as what thrusted Fnaf into the spotlight and the groove that Deltarune has found itself in, but with ambiguity.
Fnaf was fundamentally designed to grab your analytical and creative attention and hold on tight. With the faint aura of strong and brilliant plotlines that lie mostly hidden behind a veneer of mystery. It has many flaws, but it's original story was strong enough that they moreso strengthened the engagement.
Deltarune has the master-quality writing Toby Fox is known for, but because of the extremely limited information available from Chapter 1, it ended up being forgettable in the long run. Then chapter 2 released and gave us way more to chew on, enough so that now the story is firmly at the top of the curve.

This is easily the best way to illustrate why media with major flaws can easily become extremely engaging on a narrative level even compared to more well-done media.
I recently finished watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood for the first time, and it's the only instance I've ever seen of a show that's genuinely too perfect. Not only do I have nothing really to say about it, but I walked away from the final episode completely satisfied and not even having any desire for more content.
Meanwhile, you get something like Ninjago, which is a treasure trove of amazingly interesting ideas with typically mediocre execution and quality that fluctuates rapidly and averages out on a mediocre scale. Yet this mediocrity is exactly what generates astronomical creative potential.
Not only was I basically doomed to think about this series regularly for the next several years the moment I decided to begin making an AU on it, but it also has one of the most creatively active communities I've seen for any media period.

Phoenix x Franziska (Soft Drawing Technique Test.)
I decided to try out a sketch-drawing technique that was meant to use the sketch as a soft form of lineart, never making an actual page of lineart for the piece.
I expected it to completely change how my art looked, but aside from a few specific places, it actually left very little change. I should see if I can try to merge the two styles and use softer lines for wrinkles in clothes.

What if Kai gave his life at the end of Season 3?
This idea is not at all cooked. It's literally a shower thought and I do not have the time currently to write anything in-depth about it, (The purpose of this is to incite discussion, so please reblog/comment) but-
What if, from a narrative perspective, Kai was right when he said "It should've been me."?
I know Season 3's whole focus was Technology, and that's why Zane was made the focus character who ended up dying at the end,
But narratively, would it have been more impactful if it was Kai, the original main protagonist of the story?
Even beyond that, would it have made the show better if they actually let it stick? (At least for the short term, maybe waiting until Season 8 or 11 or so to bring him back.)
If Kai's death was actually allowed to stick for more than the 1 and a half episodes it was made to stick for Zane, not only could we get the time necessary for a truly deep and impactful exploration of grief, but maybe plotlines like Lloyd coming into his own as a leader or Nya becoming a Ninja could be given a whole new, stronger coat of paint underscored by the loss.

More art for a Fnaf rewrite AU I've been cooking for a while.
This time, I'm taking considerable inspiration from the movie.
The AU is based primarily on the games but I feel the movie could also use a sort of rewrite. The movie brought a lot of interesting ideas but fumbled its story because it was actively trying to stray from the story of the games, particularly Fnaf 4 and Michael's story as built up in it.
