Today on "Mental health bullshit": am I having a panic attack, or am I just so lazy that my body is giving me some of the symptoms so I can get out of work? I'm still functional, but it sure feels like I shouldn't be. And having spent my life being shamed for being lazy isn't helping me to determine the difference.

Is depression disability?

So, here's the thing. I don't want to be the slightly inconvenienced person who claims to be disabled. But like ... Depression sucks? And I have sensory overloads just about every day when I'm at work? But theoretically, disability would make things like hanging out with friends less fun too, right? So if I don't have trouble mustering the spoons to see a friend, am I just lazy because I hate my job? But maybe I can always muster up the spoons to see my friend because I've subconsciously only made lasting friendships with people who's presence replenishes my spoon supply? I just don't know!

And on a side note, why do I have to have a note from my doctor saying I'm disabled to get the support I need at work? Like, how is "my ankle hurts, really bad, but I can still stay for my whole shift if I'm not standing the whole time" not a good enough reason to get to sit? I don't want to go to the doctor about it, because I know exactly what she'll say. "You're just fat. Lose weight." That doesn't help when the things that I can do to lose weight hurt so bad that I can't do them for more than 10 minutes!

And how bad does a panic attack have to be before I won't feel guilty going home early? Cause I pretty much have a low level panic attack from the moment I step through the doors to the moment I get home....

I am so tired of customers walking right past the signs on our doors that say "all customers must wear a mask in the store", and then acting all indignant when I remind them as they come in. If a store tells you to wear a mask, just do it!!! If you can't wear a mask for medical reasons, we have curbside pick up and online delivery options, and you can call the store if you have any questions - there is literally no excuse to ignore the signs!!!

When my fandom life was born, we were well entrenched in citrus cheesecake. And I hated it. Particularly because around every corner there was a fangirl shrieking; "Nyooooo, you can't like /my/ favorite character, he's miiiiine!" But also, may the gods of fandom help you if disagreed with her.

Archive of our Saviors is where I live now, and life is much better. The wierdly posessive girls seem to have grown up for the most part, and the majority of people seem to have finally left the Snape Apologist era of the Harry Potter fandom. I have no idea what that last one is, and I fear the day it comes for me.

I feel like fandom generations are both very specific and easily conflated. Like,, you either live through so many they blur together into one hellish mess or you join in on one generation and remain blissfully unaware of the previous ones

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but don’t be racist during the COVID-19 scare.

My mom’s friend was out shopping when a (very not asian) woman came up and started berating her for not wearing a mask. Asian businesses in my area are suffering. Some people are refusing to interact with anyone who looks Asian.

Asian-Americans have been through racism already. We’re fucking sick of it. We’re not flea-infested rats; we are actual people who most likely have never been to China.

And if you’re not Asian and see someone being racist and giving a poor schmuck a hard time for having squinty eyes and dark hair, tell them to knock it off and they’re being a butt.
