What are some of your other favorite tv shows, apart from The Sopranos and Breaking Bad? Do you go for a specific genre or that's not a criteria you have in mind?
Hi Anon,
Thanks for the TV ask. ☺️
I don't have certain criteria, but I do avoid procedurals and some run-of-the-mill dramas mostly since I took TV writing classes. Once you know the structure, it makes it extra boring if there isn't good writing imo. I will be making an exception for Law & Order Toronto, though, because LOL.
Other shows I've really enjoyed:
Fargo, especially the seasons with Kirsten Dunst and Juno Temple
The Wire - considered the most realistic depiction of the US' war on drugs and its ravages
Hacks - finally, something well written for women of a certain age
Atlanta - has to be one of the most underrated shows of all time; basically it's black american surrealism & satire
The X-Files - this is episodic and wayyy before prestige, but the writing still stands up (the creator of Breaking Bad wrote some incredible episodes: Bad Blood, Paper Hearts)
Twin Peaks (most of it; it does go off the rails at some point) & Twin Peaks: The Return - this was named by Cahiers du Cinema as one of the most important works of the year when it came out
The Leftovers - stunning
Curb Your Enthusiasm - Larry David as a social assassin will always be iconic
Cobra Kai - this is my surprise one; it's a great example of how a reinvention can be purposeful and meaningful

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
Directed by: Joachim Ronning
Written by: Linda Woolverton, Noah Harpster, Micah Fitzerman-Blue
Cast: Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sam Riley, Ed Skrein, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, Harris Dickinson, Lesley Manville, and Michelle Pfeiffer
This is based on a sequel in 2014 film, I was really excited because after 5 years of the events on the first film, so I had to chance to watch at Ayala Malls South Park which we were always watching at the cinema it depends on the film on Weekends and it was so good, I know lots of critics were mixed because of some reason but to me it was mind-blowing and there were some moments were I really enjoyed because on some other terms.
Also, I will tell what I most liked about this film so I can tell with my personal opinions:
Tumblr media
Angelina Jolie who is returning as the iconic role was Maleficent was stunning in this film, she was absolutely breathtaking even her character development was getting stronger than ever, and her acting was amazing, we all known that she is a great actress, she can direct and produce and she did an amazing job in this movie.
Also, Elle Fanning plays as Aurora was really good as well, Her character development was improving even her first film was kind of a strong character but in this sequel she is getting stronger than ever, and I like the chemistry between Maleficent and Aurora were they having a very good relationship between a mother and daughter was really sweet, and she is a good actress and I hadn’t seen in other films but she looks familiar in Hollywood industry and I can’t wait to see her in the future, Michelle Pfeiffer’s performance was amazing in this film, she plays a new character who is Prince Philip son was mesmerizing, and she looks beautiful with her age and she can whether plays a Marvel or a Disney character she is very talented as well.
And Harris Dickinson plays a New Prince Philip after who has to be replaced by a 2014 actor Brenton Thwaites which is surprising, but in his character was doing fine even his role was not just as big, he looks very sweet and charm, and I didn’t know about his film, but he did a good job in this movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The CGI was amazing, I like when the effects were they look like this image it looks beautiful, the production design was great, were it looks very creative and beautiful well done, and the action sequences were stunning including the 3rd act of the film was really intense and I was having a goosebumps when I watch this film because it was breathtaking and brilliant.
When you compare to 2 films, I think the sequel looks better than the first because the first one was very simple it was having a conversation and there were some moments, but in the 2nd film was absolutely breathtaking it is getting more intense, darker and more exciting than I really appreciate that.
Disney had so many releasing films this year, and when I walked out of the cinema I was happy and enjoyed it because it was heartwarming and I loved by every scene were they having great moments and intense moments was amazing as well.
I had to say this movie was good, it wasn’t that bad, it just an enjoyed sequel and this is not the best Disney remakes but it looks better than the first because of the characters, storyline and the performances by Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, and Michelle Pfeiffer, and I would also highly recommend for kids and families to those who loved by Disney films throughout all the years so go see it at the cinema.
Rating: 7.7/10

because people have been asking for a while on this blog and I've yet to get round to it, here are my alternative / fan casts for harley quinn - - their looks and ages range as I think the casting of harley quinn should depend on the casting of the joker since I'm personally not a fan of creepy hollywood age gaps and oddly matched chemistry / aesthetic. so an older joker casting would require an older harley - - a younger joker, a younger harley and so forth
Alison Sudol is my favourite current fan cast for Harley Quinn. she has the accent down, the look is effortless and the iconic softness / unassuming sweetness of the original harley quinn. I would love to see her in the red and black! ❤️🔷
Tumblr media
but there is also (in no particular order) Jessica Rothe, Kathryn Winnick, Emily Kinney, Hayley Bennet, Claire Holt, Rosamund Pike, Lily Rabe, Juno Temple, Billie Catherine Lourd, Jessica Barden, Emilia Clark, Natalie Portman, Taylor Schilling and Jodie Comer. there are probably more but I can't remember right now - - they've all got unique qualities that I'd think would make decent live action harley quinns.
I think that you asked for this semi-recently too: @olddustybooks

Jason Sudeikis reveals why he doesn’t use his birth name
Jason Sudeikis is among the many celebrities to use a name other than the moniker they were born with.
The “Ted Lasso” star, 46, has been known – and credited – as Jason for many years now in both film and television appearances.
However, during Monday’s episode of the “Today” show, the actor revealed that his birth name is Daniel Jason Sudeikis while playing a game of “True or False?” with third-hour hosts Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones and Jill Martin.
The “Saturday Night Live” alum confirmed that his “first name” is Daniel.

Personal Radio Station
For the longest time, at least 14 years that I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a radio personality. The problem with this is that I never knew how to get into it without being an unpaid/low-paid grunt doing work I don’t want to do.
Now, with the help of an insanely updated internet, I can do just that for free/very little money per month! However, I don’t want to start up a radio station without knowing that I’ll have at least a few people who will listen.
Just to give you an idea of what the station would be playing, I will show you a comprehensive list of just the music in my personal collection. Quite a few of these are actually from compilation albums, and thus I only have a few songs (maximum) for them. Others, however, I have full/nearly-full collections of.

Going into the screening of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Five years on from the original Maleficent, a movie I rather enjoyed at the time and had pretty much totally forgotten since then, is there really a need for more from this franchise? Who has been waiting for this?
Well, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil isn’t a great movie, but it’s a very good, enjoyable movie. It is smart, well made and totally formulaic. It is full of grand visuals. It has all the necessities for a Disney classic: grand castles, princesses, cute forest creatures, dragons, magical creatures, dashing princes, fairies, dwarves, derring-do, huge battles, evil queens.
And, strangely enough, it has a surprisingly deep message, a rejection of genocide and the denunciation of people who are different than you. Of course, a fantasy action movie about a woman with wings and horns is not going to delve deeply into such profound issues – in fact, to a certain extent it gave unrealistically easy happy endings some of these problems – but hey, it’s a fairy tale, not a documentary.
One thing that you notice early on in Mistress of Evil is that Maleficent – the “misunderstood” evil queen from the Sleeping Beauty legend as played by Angelina Jolie – has become something of a supporting character in her own film. This film revolves much more around Aurora/Sleeping Beauty, who has grown from a girl to a confident and kind young woman in the years since the first film. (Elle Fanning – who plays the role – was 15 when the first film was made and is 21 now.)
Aurora is in the middle of a bit of a Montague / Capulet relationship. She is the only human in the magical moors – beloved by magical creatures, fairies, and her stern adapted mother Maleficent. Aurora is being groomed to take over as Queen from her mother.
Across the river is the home of the humans. Aurora is in love with the dashing Prince Phillip of the humans (played by Harris Dickinson, who seamlessly replaces Brenton Thwaites who played the role in the first film). His mother, evil Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer), sees the impending marriage of her son to Aurora as an opportunity to seize the land of the magical beings – breaking the peaceful truce that has lasted since… well, the last movie.
Therefore, after an exceedingly awkward meet-the-future-in-laws dinner, Ingrith uses fear, slander, lies and subterfuge to turn her subjects against the supernatural denizens of the moors. Maleficent is attacked and injured and nursed back to health by a lost colony of her own creatures, which have been in hiding from the humans. In the meantime, the magical creatures of the moors are being lured into certain death by the wedding.
It’s nice to see a diva throw-down between the two iconic actresses of the ‘90s, though neither are given enough to do, particularly Jolie.
In the long run, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is formula. It could have been written by a committee, or even by a computer program. However, it is rather enjoyable formula. If you’re a fan of Disney fairy tales, this is a pretty well told one. Keep in mind though, that some of it may be a bit intense for small children.
Chances are, like with the original, in five years when they will undoubtedly make the next chapter in this saga, I will have completely forgotten Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. In fact, it’s already fading from my memory. However, when I was experiencing it, I rather liked it.

HELLO TO ALL,
Foremost, I want to thank you all for the time you dedicated to reading along the memoirs of the characters and proviso of mine, here and along you will find the rules I consider imperative in order to write along, though many will find them to be a bit redundant, I think I ought to place them here.
∂ SEMI-SELECTIVE BLOG: I reserve the right to respond to whichever threads I would be keen on, I am meticulous with my choosing of writing partners because I like to write with ones that place as much effort and involvedness in their writings as me.
∂ NO GODMMODING: my characters are sovereign beings that should be allowed to their own responses rendering to their cogitates and traits, do not try and assume reactions as I won’t undertake your character’s.
∂ TRIGGERING AND MATURE THEMES: I am over twenty one, there will be some focuses not suitable for underage, it is because of it what I will not write with those who are younger than an appropriate age Themes that are not acquiescent to bylaw, please if you are underage don’t approach me with themes that revolve around NSFW, gore, abuse, etcetera, I won’t… no matter if we are friends.
∂ MULTI-SHIP & MULTI-MUSE: This is a multi-muse blog which means there is more than one active character, each and every character may have several threads, but one is independent that the other, no thread is to be involved with another, so there will be no jealousy, cheating nor involvements in between.
∂ RESPONSES: I take my time for responding threads, it is not because I am ignoring you, nor am I prancing to favorites, merely it is matter of time and which muse and thread I have more enthuse for, each and every writing partner, along with their characters, I love, this is why I chose to carry on with threads, and I will respond to each and every one of them on my own time, if you think it has been long since a last reply please message me at once, sometimes I miss replies due a faulted activity tag…but moreover, I have all saves in drafts.
THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS THAT WON’T BE DONE, ACQUIESCENCE NOR ALTERABLE.
I will not carry on with a thread that consists on one liners when there is no icons nor gifs and  pretend to past as para.
This is a sideblog, I can’t follow back, but you can always find me at my MAIN ACCOUNT.
There are certain FCs I won’t be writing with (The list will be at the end of this post)
I am fond of writing so I will take time to do replies, I will give quality and I expect others to make an effort in they replies, I am an amicable person that enjoys writing along others, but It is not motivating for me to have little to no effort of others when I do think of each reply.
If I have not replied to a certain thread is possible and most accurate that I am taking my time until  I get inspired to be able to give as you deserve.
Generally I am always busy with school, homework, and my job, so I may appear one moment and disappear the next, however, I have everything drafted and to be replied.
Don’t force a ship on me, I rather let it roll along and see where things go.
I have quite a list of banned FCs, I wonder why both, my muses and myself, are far too picky when it comes to whom we write with and which threads we would like for each individual character.
HERE A FEW OF BANNED, if only I could remember them all…
ANY CELEBRITY SINGER, either group or solo, meaning One direction, Fifth Harmony, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Lana del Rey, Justin Bieber, such and such. 'Ted Lasso' and the Journey From Viral Promo to TV Series
Jason Sudeikis reprises his role as a befuddled coach in England, with his viral NBC promos evolving into a full-on TV show. He explains the story of how it happened.
There’s a scene in Ted Lasso, where the title character–Jason Sudeikis’s American football coach who abruptly turns into a Premier League manager–sprints to the assistant referee in the middle of a crucial match after raising his flag for an offside call.
“Come on, now! What do you mean? How’s that offside?” complains Lasso, with his characteristic Kansan drawl as the linesman looks at him with confusion.
“What?” asks the official.
Lasso gets closer. “No, I’m serious. How’s that offside...I don’t understand it yet.”
This lack of complete understanding and across-the-pond confusion is one way to describe the essence of Apple TV+’s latest sitcom, which originated from a 2013 NBC Sports promo. That's where Sudeikis introduced his character as part of the network’s acquisition of the Premier League broadcast rights.
youtube
The idea was simple. Lasso, an intense, wide-eyed college football coach from Kansas City arrives in London and enters the alien world of the Premier League. In the promos, he takes over Tottenham (the following season,
he returns as head coach of youth girls' team St. Catherine Fighting Owls), questioning why players don’t wear more pads and teaching the art of flopping. He has no knowledge of the game or its cultural and historical significance. It was a satiric outlook at two different worlds seen through the eyes of a naïve American, and for NBC, it was a way to both attract a loyal, knowledgeable soccer fan as well as appeal to a new audience.
In the end, it worked, as both promos (2013 and 2014) went viral and gained a tremendous amount of attention. Combined, the videos have generated more than 20 million views on YouTube and helped the network build a strong foundation for its Premier League audience.
It’s been six years since those promos aired, and soccer in the U.S.–without Ted Lasso–has grown tremendously in popularity. So how was the character revived?
“I guess it’s a dozen little things that go right that you’re willing and ready to receive,” Sudeikis told Sports Illustrated. “After doing the second video (in 2014), it really unlocked elements of the character that we found very, very fun to write and portray and view the world through. So, one day in 2015, my partner Olivia (the actress and filmmaker Olivia Wilde) came up to me one day and said, ‘You know, you should do Ted Lasso as a show,’ and I said, ‘I don’t know,’ but then after marinating on it, I thought maybe this could happen.”
youtube
In spring of the same year, Sudeikis got together with his creative partners and writers, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt–the three of them started together with Chicago’s well-known improv group The Second City and Amsterdam’s Boom Chicago; Hunt also plays Lasso’s assistant coach and confidante Coach Beard–and powered through for a week to see if they could create a show out of it.
“When you have a germ of an idea, you don’t know if it’s something you say out loud or if it’s a tweet or a letter or a screenplay, who knows," Sudeikis said. "So, we sat down, and we were able to bang out a pilot pretty quick in that week. As well as outlining six to 10 episodes of the first season. And that let us know, ‘O.K., there’s something here.’”
Despite the excitement for the idea, that’s all it was at that moment–an idea without a home. So, life continued, and the three friends left Ted Lasso alone for a few years and diverted their focus to their respective careers.
“But that allowed us to get a little space from it, and low and behold, the showbiz gods looked and smiled down on us and brought Bill to our doorstep,” Sudeikis said.
"Bill" is Bill Lawrence, the experienced television writer, producer and creative force behind award-winning shows such as Scrubs, Cougar Town and Spin City. Lawrence entered the frame in 2017 when he and Sudeikis played pickup basketball a couple of nights a week and one night, the idea of Ted Lasso came up. After a few more chats, he read the script and the concept and was immediately interested.
“I wanted to work with Jason Sudeikis, he just cracks me up. I thought he was awesome on SNL, whenever he shows up in a movie, I’m immediately into it and he seems like that dude you want to hang with,” Lawrence said. “I’d also seen those sketches, the promotional videos for the Premier League back when he did them and I thought they were so funny, and he said, 'What if we made that character three-dimensional and really rounded him out?' Ted Lasso can still be goofy and funny, but we could also have our version.”
And this was critical for Sudeikis. In the commercials, Lasso’s unawareness is funny and often endearing, but for a show, there had be more to him for the audience to not just laugh, but also root for him.
“I think Scrubs is a fantastic show. You can put the 10 best episodes of it up against any show,” Sudeikis said. “Bill writes male characters and relationships so beautifully, his use of music and dealing with heavy duty issues of life and death. And now, two years later, here we are talking about it. It’s actually really gonna happen and I can’t kind of believe it.”
Not only is the show happening (it premieres this Friday), but it also succeeds in its mission. Ted Lasso is warm, it’s funny and–like the main character–it has heart. Unlike the commercials, where Ted’s biggest trait is his buffoonery, the show celebrates his relentless thirst for hope. He is a man with passion, dignity and someone you for whom you cheer. Lasso is the eternal optimist, whose naivety is both a strength and a weakness, and just like J.D from Scrubs, Lasso is vulnerable (in the show, he actually leaves the U.S. to escape from a troubled marriage) and aches for comfort. That’s what he offers his new team in return–an arrogant, underachieving Premier League side controlled by a scorned owner. It’s not Tottenham this time around, but the fictional AFC Richmond.
Lawrence sees Lasso as the perfect example of the inspiring teacher. A sports version of Robin Williams's John Keating from Dead Poets Society, where his personality is a weapon against cynical reporters and resentful fans who naturally express their disgust at the thought of an American with no knowledge of the game taking over their beloved club.
“We all grew up with a favorite teacher or a favorite coach. They put us on a path. These people never force you into doing anything. It’s just good folks,” Lawrence said. “Me and Jason overlap cause we also like doing shows with heart and because it’s such a dumpster-fire time in the world, Jason really wanted to do a show that was hopeful and optimistic, and most sports movies have that. That’s what's at their core. It’s the underdog. We were trying to capture that optimism and hopefulness that comes with those iconic figures from your life, whether it’s a coach, a teacher or a parent.”
If there's a coach in the real Premier League that emits optimism and hopefulness, it's Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp, and Sudeikis admits that Lasso's character in the show is partly inspired by him.
“Man. When I heard about him taking his squad to go do karaoke, I was like, ‘hellooooo, story idea…’” said Sudeikis, who also admires Pep Guardiola. “I really love those coaches. I really like the way they handle themselves as leaders of an organization. They are guys who I would follow into a fist fight.”
Sudeikis loves the game but fully admits he still needs to do more before calling himself a hardcore, scholarly fan.
"I love the sport. My joke has been that I have a deep appreciation for it but a shallow understanding. But that’s why I keep company with Brendan and Joe, who know their stuff,” Sudeikis said. “But it’s still all new to me. Every time I go to see a match, I buy a kit for me at the gift shop and a kit for my little boy. I’m ready to be a fair-weather fan for whoever needs it [laughs]. I know people hate for me that, but that’s the truth.”
The showrunners put together a cast with colorful characters who add depth to the multiple plots. There’s the tough-as-nails veteran midfielder Roy Kent (surely inspired by Roy Keane and played by Brett Goldstein), the narcissistic Man City loanee Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster), the charismatic duo of Dani Rojas (Mexican star played by Cristo Fernandez) and Nigerian forward Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh). Nick Mohammed (who can be seen in Sky TV/Peacock’s Intelligence) also shines as the quiet kitman. It’s also refreshing to hear NBC’s Arlo White serving as the show’s commentator throughout AFC Richmond’s season.
But if there’s someone aside from Sudeikis's Lasso who steals the show, it’s Keeley Jones, the confident and no-nonsense TV celebrity/model/PR guru played by Juno Temple. She was the only actor who didn’t audition, as Sudeikis, who knew her work, wanted her in the show from the get-go.
“I met Juno with Olivia when they were on Vinyl (Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese’s 2016 HBO show), so I’ve done karaoke with her. I’ve been in a room with her. I knew her,” Sudeikis said. “She’s so fun and dynamic and just pro-female. She’s just a kick-ass that lives with an excitement that’s fun to be around, and that’s a little bit of what the character had.”
In the end, Ted Lasso is exactly what an audience needs right now. It’s a story that makes you laugh and reminds you to smile at adversity. It’s a lesson that’s less about football management and more about unity, and the script works because it takes a hold of our differences and embraces them as one. And it echoes Lasso’s favorite Walt Whitman quote, “Be curious, not judgmental.”
Lasso is heroic, not because he commands respect but because he earns it. He is kind, because he doesn’t know any other way. But like us, he is also vulnerable, and that’s why we can relate to his journey.
“He’s more white rabbit than white knight, but he’s actually becoming the change he wants to see in the world, without any agenda,” Sudeikis said. “And these days, that’s unusual, both in real life and on television.”
