percy looking off to the side at annabeth right before he's about to sing the consensus song 'cause he's a twelve-year-old trying to see how the girl he likes is going to react to some dumb shit he's about to do yeah I see you man

show percy will eventually make another very out of pocket comment about the fact that zeus' best idea to save thalia was turning her into a tree but that time he'll add the fact that his dad grabbed him from a free fall instead of turning him into seaweed or a seagull or a horse and i live for the reaction of whoever is on the receiving end

i know “she met a pinecone’s fate” gagged everyone but also i don’t think it was meant as a dig towards thalia but more so towards zeus and the gods in general - like this was not “hero’s fate” and they shouldn’t be thinking of it as zeus saving thalia cause if that’s all the most powerful god can do for his own child then the gods highkey suck

it feels like the show is nailing certain aspects about the characters but only at the completely wrong time because Percy saying "she met a pinecone's fate"... don't get me wrong, the moment feels very true to the part of Percy that is a little shit <3 and it is funny, but it just stands in such stark contrast of his canon kindness and sympathy when he first learned of Thalia's fate that I'm just sitting here like ???
Like when Percy learns about Thalia in the book, he's very moved by her fate:
So comparing this reaction to the onscreen portrayal, its just like wild that the writers thought this was a "faithful change" lmao. Even if the line is criticizing the gods, it feels as if it comes at the expense of Percy's sincere empathy. imo the pinecone line feels much better suited to a future season where there's active animosity between Percy and Thalia, not when Percy is learning about a girl who died saving her friends.

annabeth having a quiet moment with thalia’s tree and grover talking about her sacrifice and annabeth saying “she met a hero’s fate” only for percy to come back immediately swinging with “she met a pinecone’s fate” fucking incredible no notes

“Percy…” Imagine
Day 20 of celebration marathon
Percy Jackson x Sibling!Reader
-♡I have no clue. I’m rewatching pjo and the thought of smacking his head as his siblings just makes sense.
-♡ warning: short, sibling slightly fighting, Percy being insensitive.
You hated staring at the tree annabeth leaned her hands on. Knowing that could have been you, or your brother somehow. All you wanted to do was keep him safe but this quest seemed like it wasn’t going to be easy. And Percy liked to run off on his own.
“So the most powerful beings best idea to save is daughter,” you turn your gaze to your shorter brother. You couldn’t imagine what he was going to say, “was to turn her into a tree?”
“Percy..”
“She was the bravest Demigod I ever knew,” the three of you turn to look at annabeth approaching. “She fought valiantly, and she met a hero’s fate.” You sympathize with her. You could tell they were sister of some sort and to think of Percy like that..
“She met a pinecones fate.” Never mind, you’d turn him into a tree now.
Your hand launched forward and smacked the back of Percy’s head and he let out a yelp in pain. He mumbled but you flick his forehead again.
“Keep talking like that and I’ll put you in the ground myself.” Percy rubbed the back of his head and didn’t bother looking up at you, knowing the glare you’d be giving him.
“Alright.”
