Alan Wake (whose face and voice we find on Thomas Zane and Casper Darling, respectively) ends up in an antagonistic relationship with Alex Casey (whose face and voice we find on Sam Lake and Zachariah Trench, respectively).
Casper Darling and Zachariah Trench? By the end, their relationship was antagonistic.
The Casey-Trench voice was once a guide-friend for Wake-Darling.
And then, they were fighting.
One was suspicious of the other, thinking he was lying, hiding something.
While the other was unaware of the darkness that was growing and consuming the former's mind, his ignorance letting it fester. Feeding it, even.
The original faces, Thomas Zane and Sam Lake? In this latest iteration they've spoken with their own voices while in the Dark Place, only in the presence of a camera.
Alan Wake and Zachariah Trench? In the end, while in a nightmare dimension, both get shot by a woman who both of these men meddled in their lives, threatening the well being of their loved one.
At least one had a hand in his fate, willing it, accepting it. The other? He was fully gone, his will overtaken by the nightmare.
A version of Alex Casey did say it after all. He and writer, they were the same.
And finally, the real Sam Lake? By happenstance he offered his face for a collaborative project, and became a symbol. Even if he tried to fight it, tried to replace it, he had to concede. The story demanded it, as if writing it wasn't enough, the narrative claimed his visage.
There's no need to make overt mentions or put the image of the Ouroboros in posters. The serpent is interwoven in the fabric of the narrative itself.

Nobody really ever let Mav drive because, even after 20 and plus years of having his drive licence, he's still shit. Not like I just started to drive shit, but I get bored after the first five minutes. Why does this thing go so slowly? kinda of shit. But the day has been long, and Mav is the least tired of the four, with Amelia and Penny sleeping in the backseats and Rooster barely keeping his eyes open. A day by the sea always has this effect on you, eh kid? He asks, ruffling his hair, and receives an uhuh as an answer. C'mon twenty minutes tops, and we'll be home, he murmurs a little to himself and a little to everybody else.
Twenty minutes later, Mav parks in front of his home, and he already has a foot on the concrete when a hand stops him. Mav? Where are we? Penny asks, and Pete smiles, she has to be still sleeping if she doesn't realise they are home. Home! he answers, already thinking about if he should take Amelia or let Bradley do the job because his back kinda hurts now an-
Dad Bradley calls his attention back to him Dad, we aren't there yet. This isn't Penny's home. He continues, his voice soft and his eyes a little wet.
I- he tries to say something, but the house in front of him speaks louder than any words. Yes, yes, I'm sorry. Just tired. We will be there in a minute, Pen'.
No problem, Pete, it happens sometimes she answers, a soft smile on her face and Bradley's hands still around his arm.
He smiles at her and at Bradley, starting the car again, trying his hardest not to look in the rearview mirror while the place he still calls home gets farther and farther away.
(Thirty-two, blonde hair tips, and I think this is the last one, Mav he said. Now I can officially say, welcome home, love he added, picking him up in the middle of an empty living room with just a couch and a coffee table to occupy the space. Welcome home, my dear, he rebuffed, laughing and spinning around, kissing the man he was soon to marry.)

Just finished listening to the Delta Flyers episode for “Warlord” and I was losing my mind listening to Robbie talk about the horrible tank top/camisole type shirt the costume department wanted him to wear in the resort, while Garret had that fun see-through black shirt (bonus points bringing it back after “Non Sequitur”).
Now, I’m laughing my ass off because I know exactly what shirt he was talking about. Months ago I was browsing through a website with archives of the giant Star Trek “It’s A Wrap!” auction listings for costumes/props and I-
Whose idea was this???
This shirt was part of a lot with various other clothing that Tom Paris had been seen in on-screen:
And when I was looking through these auction archives, I legitimately wondered if someone had mislabeled this velour abomination since it seemed so far removed from anything we’d seen Tom wear before (or after).
Listen, clothing is whatever you want it to be and gender is a made up construct of society, but I have to agree with Robbie McNeill that THIS does NOT look like something Tom Paris would wear - and I can see why he had the costume department give him something else for the resort scene. The Vibes are just all wrong to me.
