I'm gonna get salty
So I finally got to playing the game (more like watching my sister play cuz my computer is too ass to run it without 5 billion lag) and like
It's so fucking neat??? And yet I've just seen post after post of everyone being angry and dissappointed about it??
Idk it's getting to a point where it's genuinly disheartening how negative people in this fandom have been in the last few years, even if they have a point. I've been wanting to say something all this time, but didn't cuz I thought maybe it would pass.
I've pretty much never been disappointed with Bendy content, ever. Like, I think it's just getting better, BatDR was so worth the wait, and Secrets has me even more excited for what's coming next.
I don't think they're without flaw, obviously, that'd just be naive of me. I don't care for Mike, and I think they'd benefit greatly from sitting down and working out what their story actually is, but idk I still think everything they've made is FUN. I love Bendy, and even if I'm not exactly in the fandom anymore, I'll always love it.
Idk if there's any point to what I'm saying, maybe I'm just stupidly easy to please, but Bendy just means a lot to me, and the things people have been saying about it, even if correct, just hurt.
I want to be able to enjoy Bendy without feeling like I shouldn't.

Okay I gotta rant, I'm going to state rn this post is neither pro or anti Zelink.
I wish people could stop arguing over the canonicity of BOTW/TOTK Zelink. Idk I've seen a lot of arguments on it, like both sides are trying to checkmate each other. It's annoying.
I remember back when articles twisted the words of Zelda's VA, and a bunch of people were rude about it. Both sides. Then, when she clarified what she actually meant, there was a whole fit about it.
Tumblr media
These games are about player freedom. Nintendo also wants Link, this one especially, to reflect the player. They want to keep it ambiguous and up to interpretation, yes we know Zelda loves Link but we in fact still don't know how Link feels about her.
Even stuff that can be used as evidence still have some ambiguity to it, for example Link's old house. It can be used as evidence for both sides and be up to interpretation for whether they are or aren't living together. On one hand this was Link's old house and Zelda lives there now, Zelda has his hairband, she says he always remains by his side, he can sleep on her bed, the table is set for two, and she has to hide the new tunic. On the other hand no one recognizes the house as Link's anymore it's only referred to as Zelda's house and his belongings are gone outside of the champions picture, there is one twin sized bed with one pillow and it's also important to note couples in this game sleep in seperate beds, Link can get a house in Terry Town, people talk to him as if he also doesn't normally go there, and there's an npc that Zelda isn't one to turn people away from her house so Link has permission to visit. There is room for interpretation and to come up with different reasonings for both sides.
This isn't me confirming or denying this Zelink but to show there is strong evidence for BOTH sides because it is meant to be ambiguous and up to interpretation.
There's also Link just not emoting for any cutscene he is in with her. I believe this is so you can interpret him feeling whatever you want him to feel (though personally I would rather him emote). He doesn't show any emotion when he learns the truth about her, when they reunite, or when the sages pledge to serve her. This is a stark contrast to the Zelinks that are pretty much canon like in Skyward Sword and Spirit Tracks. In both of these games there are very clear feelings for one another with Skyward Sword even having a romance theme for them. These Link's will emote and show how they feel in the moment with Zelda.
The point is it's tiring to see arguments on it. Civil discussions are fine, but heated debates are pointless. Aonuma says he wants people to see themselves in Link, and Aonuma also wants things to be open-ended and up for interpretation (like botws placement in the title). I haven't even touched on people hating on other ships (like miphlink and what not). I just think we should all be mindful, you know? You ship this Zelink? Great! You don't? Also, great! Both can coexist because, at the end of the day, neither is canon.

dont like how emotionally charged discourse in this fandom is. i mean im guilty of it so let get my own hypocrisy out of the way LMAO but when you get down to it so many people go into character analysis with their pre-conceived notions of a character and already formulated opinions and that's just not really the one and only way to discuss characters. if youre going to talk about a character and you want to be sincere with it, strip yourself of how you feel about them (or at least take your bias into consideration) and (for the love of GOD) look at canon content and then analyze them based on that. you can acknowledge how a character may make people feel and you can talk about how context and backstory can result in a certain emotional impact in most people but you cannot just expect everyone to think the way you think and feel the way you feel about a character when the way you feel about them is backed up by emotion and biases. I don't know im probably wrong about this but the polarity i see on here is insane

God I hate the pressure on here to show your age. Minor/adult is enough, like the ONLY context where I want to show my age and see others' is on a dating app
Do we see the difference here? Do we understand the distinction? That existing in an online space and sharing posts isnt the same level of intimacy as trying to fucking. Fuck someone?? Bc I very much feel like that distinction isnt being made by a lot of the users on here

Hot take cause I'm tired and irritable but y'all do know that if you "don't really know anything about DID" you can just...not write fics of the moon knight sys, right? Like I get it they're interesting characters and Oscar Isaac is hot but if you don't want to do research about DID, a highly stigmatized disorder, a disorder that some fans of moon knight also have, you can in fact just not write fic about them! I get it, it can be time consuming and difficult to research something just for a fun little story, but great news! You don't have to do any of that research, you can simply not write fanfic about them.

What does Judith Butler know about loading her son’s corpse in a cab? What does she know about the horror of turning a taxi into a hearse?
im so mad. i've been in mourning and a state of constant rage for palestine for the past few years, and these past weeks have been especially devastating. while im not palestinian myself, i have friends and family that are, and i cant help but be on edge about the things they cant afford to think about right now.
i read their 'thought piece'. its nothing new on that front, and thats why it makes me so mad. im really struggling to connect with the blind, white-american privilege of calling for non-violence in the face of a genocidal apartheid regime. the fucking gall of these so-called western intellectuals to preach how rampant anti-intellectualism has become just to turn around and buy into some colonial playbook of peace shit is hilarious. people i thought were with me on this, not only on palestinian liberation but on liberation full stop, have been a constant disappointment. i cut off so many ppl i called friends over the absolute lack of grace and empathy they handled this with. when are white western 'activists' going to stop treating us like timed bombs of irrationality?
this part in particular kept coming up and made me feel like i was going insane:
"When, however, the Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee issues a statement claiming that ‘the apartheid regime is the only one to blame’ for the deadly attacks by Hamas on Israeli targets, it makes an error. It is wrong to apportion responsibility in that way, and nothing should exonerate Hamas from responsibility for the hideous killings they have perpetrated...The necessity of separating an understanding of the pervasive and relentless violence of the Israeli state from any justification of violence is crucial if we are to consider what other ways there are to throw off colonial rule"
literally nobody is asking anyone to 'exonerate' hamas. hamas is a military organization fighting the US-backed israeli occupation with smuggled weapons that is active in 365 km² at best. hamas is not even in the orbit when it comes to comparisons to israel.
israel said it with its own mouth that hamas is a product of israeli occupation. this isnt a matter of opinion, right? or am i too far left to think that a brutal occupation will radicalize its victims? and they gave them the means to become a 'terrorist organization'? how are you claiming to care about palestinians if you don't bother unsubscribing from the very schools of thought that constructed the occupation in the first place?
some of you 'leftists' have been lying about what you've been reading because where are the frantz fanon quotes you like to throw around, huh? where's the malcolm x, the angela davis? where are your insta posts with chomsky's books?
holy shit WHAT OTHER WAYS?
keep our communities out of your mouth. we are not some thought experiment you can exercise your conscience on. we're watching an ethnic cleansing unfold, and instead of supporting palestinians so many of you are playing out your own little fantasies of the 'progressive' solidarity you fail to show. sometimes, you need to fucking stop and listen instead of consulting the higher morality police on whether you need to 'contextualize' your incompetence.

people on this site dont know what a terf is
trans exclusionary radical feminism is characterized by:
1, the belief that maleness is inherently linked to being a violent rapist, no better than an animal (or less than an animal)
2, women need to be protected from men (this comes directly from misogyny that claims women are defenseless)
3, since women are not men, and are often victims of men, women are inherently safe (the belief that women are not capable of violence is actually misogynistic in that it claims women have to be a certain way or they are not actually women, and that women just cant do the same things as men, but terfs wont admit that)
4, since maleness is savage, anyone with a penis is savage (very flawed logic but what else would you expect)
5, any closeness to maleness is savage, and as such trans men are savage, and just as violent as any other man.
6, trans women are deceptive, and trying to sneak into female spaces to abuse real women.
7, gender is biologically inherent, and it is impossible for someone to defy it.
8, however, it is possible to fail at gender, such as a woman being "too masculine", and therefore no longer a real woman. (ridiculous isnt it?)
that is what a terf is. not every transphobe is a terf. photomatt is not a terf. desantis is not a terf.
jkr is a terf.
it is a very particular set of beliefs, with protecting helpless women from the savage men at its core.
TIRFism is different, but very relevent and very present in trans spaces.
trans "inclusive" radical feminists are of the belief that trans people are exactly who they say they are, and therefore trans women need to be protected from savage trans men.
this is particularly dangerous because it easily manipulates trans people themselves.
ive seen both trans men and trans women fall victim to this ideology.
the trans men who speak up about it get called terfs, even when they show nothing but support for trans women.
trans women with this belief think that trans men gain something from being men. this is not true at all. trans men with this belief think the same, but also that if they personally haven't been oppressed for their gender, then no one has.
i gain nothing from being a man. it not really privilege if it can be revoked the instant someone knows im trans.
when its convenient, im a clueless little girl, manipulated by the discussion of transandrophobia. reeks of "women are helpless little creatures" doesn't it?
again, when its convenient, im a savage man and not safe to be around.
trans women experience the same thing, reversed.
in the eyes of cishetpatriarchy, trans men are weird dykes, and trans women are weird faggots.
our actual identity does not matter when it comes to oppression, what matters is how we are perceived by society.
if its convenient to call a gay man a dyke, cishetpatriarchy will do it.
anyone outside the binary is also subject to this. as long as its convenient, itll happen.
listen to the lived experiences of oppressed people. read transfem literature. read transmasc literature. read black literature. read indigenous literature. read intersectional literature. audiobooks count.
(side note, it was very intentional that i used the word "savage" to describe radfem attitudes towards masculinity. radical feminism often targets men of color particularly hard. its the same recycled rascism all over again. its the same language with a different lense)

lovesick
have you ever been so in love that it hurts? that you love someone so much that you feel it in your bones?
sometimes, though, you know that relationship could never work, maybe you've already been rejected by them before, or maybe they're too busy with their own life to be able to be in a relationship
and then you just have to,,, be there still, looking at their gorgeous face, talking with them and hearing their sweet words
and it HURTS so much, having to just settle for being friends- and of course you want to be friends with them because you love them, but you so so desperately want to be something more
or maybe you've been in a relationship, and you miss them so much but you know it wont ever happen again
this isnt targeted at anyone in particular, although there may be some of you that i feel this way towards, as well as people at my school
and also chat noir but lets not talk about that lol
idk, ive been told i have a big heart, and im beginning to believe that its too large
so uhm, if anyone feels this way, know that i understand how you feel

i think i agree with your culturally christoan post, or at least it made me think abt it in a way i hadnt yet. but idk how i feel abt the paragraph talking abt queer allos? i kinda feel like its not a good comparison bc allo isnt abt straightness at all, so ofc they werent called culturally straight? a better comparison would be if people had been calling ace people culturally allonormative i think? idk maybe im just getting too caught up in semantics.
The point of the comparison to "allo" discourse is that the people pushing for "culturally Christian" as a word for individuals (rather than "Christian hegemony", or a cultural issue) generally argue that they are "naming their oppressors", and as such, "oppressors" shouldn't get a say. Comparisons are often drawn to people in privileged groups insisting they don't want to be "lumped in with their oppressors", and "allo" is a good example of that: the constant refrain against the word "allo" was that it "lumped [queer] people in with their oppressors".
But that doesn't actually work as a comparison, because "allo" names part of a unique axis of power; this axis centers around whether a person is allo or not, or is perceived by others to be allo or not. It doesn't matter what we call them- this group exists, and the dynamic of power is there. When queer allos whine about being "lumped in with their [straight, cis] oppressors", the argument makes no more sense than if a cis queer person were to whine about being "lumped in with their [straight] oppressors". All axes of power intersect, that's nothing new. You can be queer and allo at the same time, you will still suffer just as much from queerphobia, and it was never implied otherwise.
"Culturally Christian" is not naming a unique power dynamic; it's naming Christian hegemony, which is predominantly centered around Christian status, specifically. People are not privileged for being "culturally Christian" in this framework; they're privileged for being Christian. The implication that anyone who conforms to Christian culture is privileged for that conformity ignores the lived experiences of, in particular, ex-Christians and atheists/agnostics who are often labeled "culturally Christian" by these people, but who are adamantly- and sometimes very violently- rejected by Christians and Christian hegemony.
What might work as a more realistic comparison to what is actually going on is the way exclusionists in the same discourse were calling aces/aros "basically straight", insisting that because visibly queer relationships or presentations weren't "inherent" to their orientation, they could be assumed "default" and included in straight/cis privilege.
Obviously, arguments have been made against this; aces and aros are targeted by their own arms of queerphobia (acephobia, arophobia, aphobia), many of them are queer in multiple and intersecting ways outside of aro and ace identities, aro and ace identities create their own relationships to queerness that are just as valid and real as any other, etc. They aren't included in straightness or cisness, they are not granted the associated privileges, and "basically straight" isn't just inaccurate- it actively erases those lived experiences.
