Hi! I'm here for MOTA confession Monday! In three weeks I've watched Band of Brothers, The Pacific, SAS Rogue Heroes and Masters of the Air! All for the first time and MOTA even twice! This is from the 4th chapter of Can't Finish What You Started. Which I apparently named perfectly cause I can't seem to fucking finish it... I don't have a soundtrack for this and maybe if I did I'd be doing a better job at completing it. 😂 But this is from the Mutually Assured Destruction playlist and I've had it on repeat a lot while I don't work on my fic. 😅

For the record, I have no plans to write anything down for Birdie in the near future. She's just gonna live in my head and I'll do quizzes and character development and tag games and imagine her entire life but I don't feel like writing a cowboy story, 1890's America is too recent to just dismissively handwave details and I can't fathom having the energy to do all the research I'd need to do. But maybe one day!

In the meantime she does get a song from her playlist cause I do love her!

Also something I really like about LBAF is that it gives me a lot of space (literally - like room!) to explore so many different types of relationships and dynamics instead of just romantic ones - which has anyone been one of my main interests when writing a story. I love that I can explore sibling relationships - like the dynamic between Lance/Arthur is SOOO different, let's say, what exists between Antoine and his sister or Cami and Arjun and all of them exist in the same story and it's just sooooo fun to play around with that.

I love your writing!!! I am hoarding a number of your fics to read as soon as I have the tIME and I'm very very excited. As soon as I finish my own behemoth of a Lestappen fic (spoiler alert: it's Lestappen does Le Mans) that just keeps growing, reading your fics are next on my list. 😂 Any tips on editing longer fics? Because mine are usually short and I struggle even then.

Editing longer fics is so time-consuming. I try and break it up and edit it in sections as I go. I never like to get too caught up in editing while writing, but for longer fics, I don't want to be stuck at the very end and looking down the barrel of 70k to edit.

So I'll work on it in chunks. If I'm on chapter three, I'll go back and start editing chapter one when I have writer's block or have spare time to dedicate to it. And that way, by the end, I only have the last chunk I wrote to edit.

I'll try and add HTML to it during that editing process, too, so that I don't have to do it all at the end. (HTML is my least favorite part.)

This is such a horrible question thanks I hate it 😂 Since it is the "biggest impact" rather than "favourite" though - probably Meditations by Marcus Aurelius or I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak!

🧾What is the most memorable book ending you’ve ever read? Did it leave you satisfied or wanting more?

Oof, there are SO many book endings that had me screaming at walls - for both good and bad reasons! I think the best book endings are the ones that are bittersweet and make me cry my heart out since it's ~ cathartic ~ or whatever, so probably Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, or The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton because all of those books really emphasized the realities of life and this might sound weird but I usually prefer harsher, sad, heart-wrenching endings over "and they lived happily ever after" because you never find out about that "after" and it bothers me 😅

📔Do you have any bookish rituals or habits that you follow before, during, or after reading a book?

I do but it's going to make me sound crazy - the first time I start any physical book, I add up the total amount of pages, divide it exactly in half, and then break the spine at that page number so that the only line along the spine of the book is exactly in the middle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I also gather everything I might need if I'm planning to annotate, as well as my bottle of water, a hat, etc. if I'm reading outside! After I finish a book, I update my Goodreads, Reading List app, and my physical reading journal with my star rating!

Skyward Zelink- They're the epitome of perfection. I have nothing to add because they're too perfect for me to handle. I couldn't even give you a 'why' that's concise enough because these two are just peak goals for Zelink

BOTW Zelink- This includes all my headcanons. BOTW Zelink, my loves, the precious beans of my life!! What's not to love? Knight and Princess fall in love after becoming best friends and confidants while both having the whole world on their shoulders. STAN! BUT I didn't like them in AOC because Impa hijacked Link's place in most scenes, so BOTW only.

OOT Zelink- Again, headcanons going on here, but we have childhood friends, or trusted allies if someone wants to call me out there, then SHIEK! Shiek my killer queen! HC that they spent more time fighting baddies together than the game says, but whatever! Then if Link is sent back and meets Zelda again, they grow up as best friends since childhood, and then we get the tragic hero's shade and just put all that together and it's a FANTASTIC story that spans their whole lives.

Spirit Tracks Zelink- LINK AND ZELDA ARE PRECIOUS HERE!! I won't write for them unless I age them up dramatically because I don't like that they're kids and I can't write children well, but they're SO CUTE SO I STAN THEM SO MUCH!! This Zelda/Zelink doesn't get nearly enough credit on anyone's lists, but SHOULD!

I am so conflicted, but WW Zelink- I want to say TP because I've headcanoned the hell out of them after the game, but there's really not much in-game support, so I don't want to say it. But then, I'd say Hyrule Warriors (OG) because they are precious too and I love them, but that's a spin off, so does that count? So I'll settle with Wind Waker's Zelink because they're great! Tetra and Link have pirate adventures forever, and we pretend PH never happened because they do Tetra dirty there!

Dinner tonight was a stir fry I made! Beef with veggies, fried in BEAR LARD (very cool and like half the reason I braved making this) sent to me by my amazing friend @losech, who rendered it from a bear she caught with her dog Flint! Anyone who starts shit about hunting will be blocked, this aint the place for me to have that energy and I won't tolerate people harassing my friends. I will allow polite, good faith questions and concerns, but will be liberal with the block button 💕

I took a couple of shortcuts I won't take next time, but made it much less daunting for the first time making it, so I don't regret them. I bought a stir fry meat slices package at the store, which was easy but very tough. I'd like to get a less tough cut next time and cut it myself. I also bought a veggie pack that was precut and combined, which was also easy and made the decision of what veggies to add very easy; just the ones in the pack! The pack had a lot more onions and bell peppers than I'd like though, and I wish I'd taken a moment to cut the broccoli up a bit more. Not a big fan of soft bell pepper and there was way too much onion for my taste, and I wish the broccoli had gotten a bit softer. I wish there were more snap peas as well, I rather liked those.

I think I'll add more peas (maybe snap peas and string beans? 🧐 definitely at least a higher quantity of snap peas though), more broccoli in smaller chunks, and another vegetable or two (zuccini? Idfk) next time, and add the onions (in less quantity!!) and bell peppers later so they're not as limp. I also forgot the rice until kinda late so i need to remember to do that earlier so it's all ready around the same time.

The bear fat worked GREAT, I honestly wish it had a bit more of a distinct taste to it 😂 didn't smoke up or taste weird or anything, 10/10 would recommend.

I definitely need to go get some more seasonings, i used salt, pepper, thyme, and basil on this and it was... Lacking. I wanna start growing some of the herbs I like using so I have them fresh. I started a solid list of seasonings i want to get though, so I'll actually remember while shopping next, instead of forgetting while I stare blankly at the spices. Soy sauce, ginger and turmeric, sriracha and chili oil, fish sauce, sesame seeds, etc.

Overall I'm very proud of myself for making this, and am happy with it. I feel a lot more confident in making this again and making it my own now, and it was remarkably easy. It took about as long to make as box maca, though it took more babysitting, and prep work of cutting meat and veggies will definitely add to the time it takes. Nothing super delicate or anything though, and very satisfying to eat. I have another large serving or two smaller meal servings left for that effort as well, instead of it being one just adequate serving if i had made maca. Well worth the extra time and energy when I have that energy to spare :)

But also you are right. People are trash and from the sounds of it you did nothing wrong. Just someone who took advantage of your kindness and spoiled a friendship. And that really pisses me off when someone has something good and just let's it go to shit. I'm sure you'll find a lot better people to become friends with and hopefully after you heal a bit you'll be able to open up with people again. I know that last part is going to be really hard but I believe you'll get there eventually 😊

it is on gamepass if you have ea play though. that way you don’t have to pay for it although im not sure if its only on console. that’s how im playing it. you don’t get the extra outfits from the dlc though which is annoying but they’re just cosmetics so you don’t technically need it. i just liked having them when i played on 360. im definitely in the same boat though. i have so many games im trying to finish and i just keep going back to my comfort games. especially now with everything going on i cant keep focus for more than maybe 10min. my plan was to play some dead island but my character has just been standing idle for the last like 5hrs

thank you though i really do appreciate it. i don’t know that i want to open up to anyone anymore though. im too old and too exhausted to keep going through this but who knows…i’ll never say never. I just have a hard time making connections with people so my circle was already extremely small and now it’s basically nonexistent. but they always say in failed relationships you need to look at the common denominator and that common denominator is me so regardless if im actually doing something wrong or not the problem is definitely me or something that im doing. im not trying to complain or beg for pity it’s just an objective fact or sorts. ive made the realisation and now i need to take responsibility and accept it. im making changes and while i may not necessarily like said changes or the person they are forcing me to become i know its for the better and it needs to be done.

so, I'll say it took about 3 days to get the garden back in some kind of order, but not without casualties (some of which I committed myself when I returned. 😂)

in plot 2, the eggplants, purple basil, and peppers look great. radishes in the center of the peppers are taking shape. Bok Choi a little slow to sprout, but sprouting nonetheless. I'd like to add more, tbh, it's just hard to maneuver around.

I pulled the carrots too soon, and then tried to put them back. 😆 we'll see if it works (i should water them, now, actually). I also planted more carrots in 2 rows. not the rainbow carrots this time, but I might plant more once I pull the squash.

the squash is haggard. as are the long beans. as is the stevia. I cut the squash vine to the last fruit and I need to just prune what dies off. the long beans still have some life, but also need a decent pruning, tbh. I need to pull the stevia and pot it. I'll work on getting either the 7 or 10 gallon grow bag ready. I cut a lot of flowers yesterday, but I should have enough left for some seeds.

Plot 1 is doing ok. planted more Chinese cabbage and mesclun greens, got rid of a few tomato plants, and trimmed some basil. the holy basil is doing really well in ground. even the one that was tattered is stable. also, the beefsteak is finally doing something. A little late, but I plan to leave it in ground to overwinter anyway.

moved the 2 cherry peppers over to where the serrano seeds were. lost 2 of those so I have 2 left and one isn't looking hot, so I hope it will be a little easier to manage being out from under the squash leaves. the peppers are... peppering. even though that fat ass caterpillar fucked up my biggest jalapeno plant.

again, trimmed the squash down and need to continue pruning. the Cucamelon plant is going ham. need to continue training it to go up it's pole. same with the cucumbers, I'd like to keep them separate for as long as possible.

my poppy bushes are too cute for words. I kinda wish I could be assed to train it to go along the border of the house.

the potted plants are ok, but I need to figure out what's going on with the black diamond watermelon and yellow squash. neither are doing great. I think aphids and... who knows.

as for the potted herbs, well, not bad. mostly pruning, clipped some chocolate mint, some fucked up strawberry leaves (hopefully I caught the worms that have been having a field day.) and threw a few more purple basil seeds in the pot... just because. lol.

Sent my brother a list of seeds I have so hopefully I can send some to him by the end of the week.

tomorrow should be easy. pull the stevia, prune the beans and squash. should probably also pot the eggplants that I have in cups.

amg it’s been awhile since I’ve watched Rise of the Guardians 😂😂 but I recommend it in my ‘movies to watch during winter break’ it’s been awhile so I’m basing this off memory and what 12 year old me liked since the premise of believing in the toothfairy and easter bunny and santa, etc was really fun to me (ALSO JACK FROST HOTTIE LMAOOOO 😭 ngl I watched it lots bc he was my crushHAHAHA)

I think it’s something one will enjoy if they like childhood figures (idk the word 🤡) and having it be like the avengers but fairytale version and the protag is growing into being a team player. I remember liking the plot bc there’s some mystery behind Jack Frost’s origins and there’s the parallel with Pitch/the boogeyman’s character as well. I think at our age it might be a bit kiddy? (i shall do a rewatch hahaha) but I enjoyed it lots ✨

I TOO HAD A CRUSH ON JACK FROST WHEN I WAS YOUNGER...I remember when people kept making Jack x Elsa (Frozen) crossovers. I ate that shit up lmaooo loved the characters even though I didn't watch RotG. also I love children's movies and shows!! you already know how I'm a fan of miraculous ladybug. watching stuff with low stakes is super relaxing amidst the hectic adult life. I don't know, 10 questions seems like more than "a few" to me--

My responses get a little lengthy, so I'll slap them under a cut!

1. I don't have anything specific in mind, but what I enjoy writing the most are character-focused pieces where the conflict is one's inner turmoil or coming to terms with one's own emotions instead of something physical. (To clarify, I do NOT mean pining or anything romantic here, I mean just a character growing and changing over time from impactful life experiences like Overblotting or losing a friend.) I feel like self reflection is very important, and something that's not often explored because it's abstract and doesn't have a clear answer or a definitive ending. Personally, I really like the open-endedness of these kinds of pieces, as they help me really analyze and understand the characters on a deeper level.

2. I wouldn't consider myself a Disney fan, but I do really enjoy Toboso-sensei's art style and storytelling! I had heard rumors online that she was working on a new project with Disney (which turned out to be Twisted Wonderland), and I've been following it since.

3. I play some other gacha games (since it helps curb the temptation to impulse pull in TWST), and I enjoy various shows/anime and manga/books, but I'm not actually that involved in other fandoms. I'm generally a casual fan that just sits and quietly enjoys content from the sidelines.

4. I mean, I thought the current VAs would just be reprising their roles for the anime? I don't really care to remember or to follow VAs (or celebrities in general), so I don't have anything to add.

5. I think that with enough time and research, I could write anything if I was interested enough in the concept. However, there are certain topics that I would like to avoid writing at all costs (not because I think I can't write them well, but because they are personally triggering). You can find a list of them in my writing request rules.

6. Honestly, I don't know why people find him to be so annoying (well, maybe except for his voice). The only reasonable explanation I can think of is maybe players are annoyed that Grim "steals the spotlight" from MC/Yuu, but I don't mind that because I think it's pretty funny. I really enjoy Grim's snark. He's not as mean-spirited as Ace, but he knows what he wants and how he's going to get it, even if it sometimes backfires on him. Grim is basically my first companion in Twisted Wonderland; he's been with me through it all, the good and the bad. He's really the one I truly consider to be my friend, not Malleus. In fact, I'm way more attached to Grim than I am to Malleus 😂 Grim being a cute, fluffy cat also helps his case, since I really like cats!

7. I'm always hungry for more TWST world and family lore! I'd really like a "parent-teacher conference" event where we get to meet each of the boys' parents and siblings! It would be super interesting to see what the students' dynamics with the family members are like, and how their families would react to hearing about how they're performing in school. It would really help to highlight the differences in each boy's upbringing and background, from healthy relationships to unhealthy and even toxic ones. Also, it'd be hilarious to see Lilia pull up as Silver's guardian--

8. I tried out Obey Me when it first came out, and it... well, it wasn't for me. That's not to say the game is bad, but it just wasn't to my tastes. I was expecting Obey Me to be something that it wasn't, so of course I was disappointed when it didn't meet those expectations. More power to you if you enjoy it, though! I can definitely see why it appeals to a certain demographic or why it's good as just some nonsensical fun. Here are my general thoughts on Obey Me:

The characterization and the jokes seemed repetitive. There's only so many times they can joke about Mammon being "the dumb one" or Beel eating so much before it loses its magic. There's also the problem of each boy being defined almost entirely by their "sin" or really basic character tropes (like Asmodeus's narcissism) rather than having any character outside of that.

In my opinion Barbatos, Simeon, Luke, Solomon, Diavolo, etc. are much better characters than the 7 brothers, because they don't have a single sin to rely on to be their entire personality. I stopped playing before those guys became "playable", so I'm a little sad that I never got to grab them.

I feel extremely weird about the plot twist about who the MC really is, and how all the brothers continue to aggressively hit on the MC despite knowing their true identity. Besides that, I felt like the main story and the events never took themselves seriously. I would have preferred it more if there was something more at stake instead of being 98% fluff.

If you hadn't told me the characters were demons, I'd have thought they were just generic pretty boy designs. Like... nothing about Asmodeus's looks screams "lust" to me, nothing about Satan's looks screams "wrath", etc. Meanwhile, you can take one look at Idia's gloomy face and stooped pose and immediately guess what type of personality he has. I felt like there was so much potential with the characters being angels and demons, but it was never capitalized on and therefore went to waste.

I never understood why everyone thought Lucifer was so hot? Maybe I just have shit taste--

Gameplay-wise, the events and new cards were too frequent. It was a very "pay to win" model, which required constant attention without allowing you enough time to properly save or to plan for new card drops if you didn't spend a cent on the game.

I'm not a fan of the general art style, but those little shadow demon dudes are super cute!

9. I don't know what "season 4" means, sorry!

10. Lilacs, gardenias, jasmine, and peonies are my favorites smell-wise, but I like all flowers. They're very pretty and calming to look at.

I also had a lore question regarding the series. Since Y/N’s powers are growing to become on level with Galadriel, does she have a sort of sense of what’s happening with Arwen in Rivendell? Maybe not specifics, but knows something is wrong with her sister? Or do her powers not work in that way? I hope you don’t feel pressured to answer, I’m just curious.

That's a good question! I haven't gotten that far in developing her powers to be quite honest 😂 But I was considering more like she senses her present circumstances, and the things happening immediately around her, so she might not be able to sense what's happing with Arwen.

I feel like this past couple days have been shitty in this fandom (bye s4, some people don't even have all the seasons in the game). To say that fusebox messed up is an undestatement.

Okay so- apologies for this long ask, I went through Lucas playthrough for the nth time and I had a sudden realisation that out of all the career-oriented guys Lucas seems to be the one who actually looks like he's ready for a child, idk but he's got this look that screams "I'm mature and responsible" y'know? Also he looks like a real dad in cmm LMAO (that damn moustache is growing on me, so weird but I kinda like it now 😂)

Oh, yeah, it's been a mess. There's not a single thing not-wrong with all that's happening.

DO NOT apologize for "long ask"s!! I love them!! And about Lucas... In short: I agree with you. But then again, my Lucas is slightly different from other people's depictions of him. (I don't think I'll ever like the moustache but... Given that my fc for him is Daniel Henney and he can pull it off, it's at least less upsetting).

I DO HAVE SOME HCs FOR DAD!LUCAS. At least for TTT!Lucas lol.

Under the cut because you have unleashed a monster, anon... You have been warned. Run while you can.

- First, big, huge one: It wouldn't be an accident. Like, a pregnancy might. The pregnancy won't. I don't think Lucas would get into a serious relationship with someone who didn't stand at least pretty close to his views on parenthood: If you don't want to be a parent, you shouldn't be a parent. So it would 100% be a choice and not "something that happened and now we have to deal with".

- I think he is conflicted about it. He says, and I'm quoting, "I'm not sure I'm the marriage and kids type, anyway". He's 27, if he was completely against it he would have decided by now, and he would be upfront about it. He would want to get it straight before the relationship got any further, "If you're dreaming about a big family I'm not the guy for you". But he doesn't.

- I do believe though that if he was with someone who definitely didn't want them he wouldn't find it hard to give up on the idea. We know he's not dreaming with a huge family, all I'm saying is that as far as we know he hasn't taken the possibility completely off the table.

- Just one kid... if it's a girl. IMAGINE LUCAS WITH A BABY DAUGHTER. The man would melt. You'd need a boat to move around after that much drooling. I'm so in love with this idea that I think if he had a boy he would absolutely love him but might risk a second one to try and get a girl too.

- Time is of the essence. I believe part of his reluctance has to do with him wanting to join DWB and that not being really compatible with a family. I recently googled it for a prompt, and the minimum you're away is 9-12 months. So the man is in a dilemma, isn't he? Because...

- Lucas won't be an old dad. He would want to run around and actually play with his kid, carry them on his shoulders, not to mention the sleepless nights at the beginning. Lucas is not having a kid at 40, he's done the maths and he's not going there. If he has them, he wants to enjoy them. So the "soon or never" is popping into his head every time the subject comes up.

- Now, for the actual parenting, he would help but that doesn't mean he wouldn't hate part of it. "I'll get up every time they cry at night as long as I don't have to make them burp or change the nappies, I'm begging you..."

- Have you seen those photos of the kid sleeping next to the dad in the same position?

- "Dad, you're home!!!" *Runs to him and hugs his legs*

- A good, reliable nanny so mum and dad can get a weekend away every once in a while.

- Very overprotecting, but also determined to raise an independent child. He would obsess over them having everything they need (and likely everything they want, too), but would struggle with the fear of spoiling them rotten and raising an entitled annoying brat. Basically he's afraid his child would end up being what people always thought he was.

- Would "ask mum" them because he knows (all of them know) if they make puppy eyes he will give in.

- When they're out, the kid falls asleep on him, not on her.

- *Looking at the toys lying all over the living room* "Lucas, chill. We have a four-year-old, of course the house is gonna be a mess. Leave them play in peace, they'll learn how to tidy up later."

- Best school available, would also insist they learn at least one language.

- No tolerance for lying.

- He would encourage curiosity. To ask why about everything (he'll half regret it later...), and reason through explanations, and dig deepen when they're older. His kid would be smart as hell, we all know this.

- Old cartoons on Sunday mornings. Like, really old, the ones he used to watch as a kid. Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Hannah-Barbera... Quality shit. Paw Patrol my ass.

- Not a lot of loving words, though. I feel like he wouldn't say "I love you", but rather show it. Hugs, gifts, and general protectiveness.

I will stop now, though, I feel like I could go on forever, I'm sorry (ask me again and I'll come up with more istg). I then have specific HC for him being a dad to a boy and to a girl, but for once I'll shut up. If you're curious feel free to send me another ask, but for now I'm leaving it here.

Hi! If you don’t mind, would you share a lot more of dad!Lucas headcanons please!

Well I do not mind at all! I'm sorry if there's people wishing I'd shut up about it lol Here is the first part of these, just in case, and here are some comments on pregnancy and choosing a nanny. And sorry it took me so long to get to this!

So, some more general HC and then I'll add some specific for a girl or a boy because why not.

- That child is getting technology time so, so limited… They're gonna be playing outside (likely taking classes for a chosen sport), they'll get tons of pencils and paper to draw, paint, jigsaw puzzles, cubes, books, playdough… Physical things, rather than an iPad and Kids Netflix 24/7. I HC Lucas as working in rehabilitation, and some fellow psychologist will remark the importance of early cognitive and motor stimulation. And he'll take it very seriously, even if it requires a bit of extra work from him and MC.

- He would be the one teaching them how to walk (again, according to my work HC for him, he already does that with grown people so he would take this as a personal mission).

- OBSESSIVE about proper nutrition while they grow up. Lots of research about when children can start eating certain things, swatting forks away screaming "ARE YOU INSANE?? DO YOU KNOW HOW ALLERGENIC TOMATOES ARE??". That kid will have no allergies and a killer immune system.

- So much frustration during the "picky eater" phase, oh my god. He can't understand why they won't eat something they used to like, and now they just want spaghettis with cream and nothing else.

- Slightly hurt if he's woken up by a distant "Mom, I had a nightmare" instead of a closer "Dad, I had a nightmare" in the middle of the night…

- His worst nightmare is the supermarket tantrum. MC knows the basic principle of: You just explain why you said "no" and let them cry their eyes out, the rest of the people know kids that age throw tantrums. But Lucas? Lucas would get anxious that people would think he's a bad father and end up giving in even if he knows he shouldn’t, and then when they don't stop because sometimes what children actually want is just to cry, he would get even more anxious and just leave the supermarket without whatever they were there for.

- Punishments are smart and evil, but effective. Nothing physical, of course, and nothing unenforceable like "No TV for a month", and nothing cruel like "Not seeing your friends for two weeks". No. Something simpler. "No TV, only for two hours, for a week". Which two hours you ask? The two hours their favourite cartoon is on. "Sure, we'll still go to your favourite park. But later. When the dog you always pet has already gone home." "Yes, you can have a cookie after lunch. Any you want, except you favourite." Little things that make a point. They didn't do anything unforgiveable so it won't merit anything big, but he'll make sure there are consequences to it.

- No family portrait, but he takes all their drawings to his practice and pins them on a board next to his desk.

- Firm believer on the "one language, one physical activity, one artistic interest" triad. The specifics in each category are up to the kid.

- "Daaaad, can we go for a ride on your bike?" "Absolutely not." "… Why?" "Because it's dangerous. No." "Why is it dangerous?" "Because it goes very fast and you can fall and get hurt." "Then we'll get another bike that's not dangerous." "All bikes are dangerous." *Points to his arm* "That one too?"

- Bonus points if after that they cry every time they see Lucas grab his helmet. "Dad, no! You're gonna die!"

- The kid would be curious about his job and think he's a doctor. He would kinda let them believe it while they're still young because explaining the difference would be a bit too complicated for a small child; a "Not exactly a doctor, but close" type of deal.

- He's so over the top when it comes to material stuff… "Dad, can you get me a book by this author?" "Which one?" "Whichever you find!" *The next day* "I got what you wanted!" *puts three bags filled with the author's entire bibliography on the table*.

- I don't like it, but he would be kind of a "suck it up" kinda parent… Not because he doesn't get that you shouldn't shake everything off but because he doesn't know how to deal with it himself. Mom would be more understanding.

- This has to do with a very specific HC from my Lucas in my fic but I figured I might as well share it. Lucas would never ever suggest it, it probably wouldn't even cross his mind, but if MC said she wanted to be a stay at home mom for a couple of years, he wouldn't oppose.

- Another personal HC (a bit too personal as it vaguely comes from actual personal experience), is that he doesn't have a bad relationship with his family. They are all just a bit distant, mostly only talking and seeing each other for Sunday brunch with very little interaction besides that (which makes some sense on a particular level but I won't get into it right now). So, while he doesn't actually resent his family, he wouldn't want his kid to feel that distance or coldness; it would be difficult because that's the way he's used to interact with family, it's what he learned, but he would make the effort and follow MC's lead on being a more loving parent.

Lucas and a daughter:

- The OG, my first dad!Lucas HC ever, from the Baby Challenge I've had written since last year, is that he would melt for the rest of his life if he had a daughter.

- She is a princess, she's perfect, and no human being will ever be good enough for her, don't @ him. No one is surprised by this headcanon, right?

- He can't say no to her, he just can't. Again, no one is surprised.

- Also, she grows up seeing him as the model of the ideal partner, seeing how he treats her mom and being taught that's how her partner should treat her.

- "Can I put make up on you?" "Sorry, honey, no." "… Well, can I give you another tattoo, then?" "… Okay."

- "Lucas, we can't keep buying her just dresses. She's a kid, she needs to run around and play, and be comfortable. Just let her be in a pair of trousers or shorts and a t-shirt." "Yeah, you're right… She looks so cute, though!" "Yes, but all those pretty dresses are going into the sandbox, you know?"

- "Lucas, why did you buy her a real tea set?" "What do you mean why? What did you want me to buy her? Plastic?" "Yes! It's a toy!" "I'm not buying her a set of plastic Barbie-pink cups. That's tacky." "Okay then, what do you think it's gonna happen if she drops one, it shatters, and she tries to clean it up without asking for help." "… She- she would ask for help." "You never know." *Suddenly pale Lucas*

Lucas and a son:

- If he's into them, sports! If he's not, Lucas won't force him.

- While Lucas is away he would ask mom or the nanny for one of his white shirts and pretend he's wearing a lab coat like his dad. Lucas would get him a tiny lab coat of his own, with the pockets and everything.

- Some physical play, as in putting him upside down or tickle wars type of deal.

- He would look up to his dad so much it's ridiculous. He's his hero, and his role model. He would copy his walk, the way he seats, the way he talks… So much so, people would insist they look exactly the same even if they don't because the "vibe" resemblance is that strong.

- Just imagine his face if the kid said he wanted to follow his footsteps profession-wise.

- The chats about how to treat women and how to stand up to bullies both for himself and for others…

- Quiet camaraderie when he's older.

Okay, I'll stop here again lol. Now I'm thinking about teens and Lucas, but if I get into that this will be a novel and we don't want that. Again, thanks for asking these! Now I want to write a dad!Lucas fic, damn you all.

Hey everyone! Just a few quick (realistic) reminders to start the week. And you might say "the fuck are you to go around giving advice like what the hell?" and to that I'll say you're totally right. But I've been having what at this point is a shitty month so I just wanted to try to, maybe, make others feel a bit better, at least regarding something I can talk about here. I still have a long way to go, so take it with a grain of salt. When I get into something I like analyzing it, and so here we are. These are all based in my own insecurities and feelings as someone who has been writing for just eight months (so I know fucking nothing about actually writing).

So, under the cut to not be as annoying, again, a few quick (realistic) reminders to start the week if you're… someone who writes:

- Your writing is not as bad as you think it is. It might not be mindblowing, but that's okay. What you see as bad is likely not really "bad" as much as it's "missing"; you have some vague idea of how it could have been better, you see the parts that you feel you half-assed, the parts you "settled for" because you "couldn't come up with something better". The reader doesn't. Writing is a skill, so as long as you keep using it it'll keep improving.

- Your OC is not as boring as you feel it is. It feels that way just because you know everything about them; there's no surprises in what you already know, but remember how you feel every time you come up with a new little canon fact about them? How cool you think it is? How well it suits them? Yeah, that's how other people feel when they learn about what to you is old news. They might be old but that doesn't mean they're boring.

- Your plot has worth. Maybe it's not perfect, it probably isn't, we all struggle with that, but it's not either perfect or shit. There is a middle, and as with your writing you're probably higher up than you think you are. You are telling a story. How many stories about something that happened at the supermarket have you heard throughout your life from different people? They're all people, they all went to a supermarket. Yes, and are all those stories the same? No, because they happened to different people in different days and different supermarkets. You have your own characters, and or your own day, and or your own supermarket.

This next one's especially for me. I hope I start following y own advice someday because it's good

- Focus on the people who encourage you, instead of on the people who don't. This has nothing to do with criticism; criticism should be considered unless it's hateful (not only because fuck people like that but also why would you follow the advice of someone hateful?). I'm just saying, don't give so much weight to the people who don't like your writing; don't let it affect you negatively more than the opinions of people who like what you do affect you positively. I know it can make you doubt yourself when you post something and it gets a certain kind of ignored, but shift focus to the people who cheers you on instead. Please, I beg you.

- If you find that you, yourself, often end up hating what you write, still write it. Write it, post it somewhere, and don't read it again. When you get someone saying that they love it, you'll hate it less. Trust me.

- Ask someone you trust to read over it, if you're doubting. I'm guilty of not doing this, I'll admit that (in my defense, when I started writing I never thought I'd publish it, and when I started publishing I didn't know anyone here. Now I wish I could be ahead enough to ask someone check it out), but do as I say and not as I do. It will calm your anxiety A LOT.

- Whatever comes to mind, write it down. This I do follow myself, and that's why I say it. I have notes that only have two lines of dialogue, or a brief description of someone waking up, or a little piece of narration that came to mind; it doesn't matter that they don't have a place yet, they probably will at some point, somewhere. I'm convinced I'm not special for this to be something that only happens to me, so trust me: sometimes those tiny phrases stand out and become one of your favorite bits. And you'll think "I wrote that with one eye open while I was falling asleep. And it's pretty good"; don't you want that? Would you rather "I thought of a nice little chat the other day but I can't remember it"?

- Maybe slightly contradictory after the last one, find a ritual to write. This is relative to how you typically write and might not apply to you, but it's worth giving it a go. If you can, find a place and make it your writing spot, have a specific playlist that you only use to write, have a cup of tea or coffee or chocolate or whatever you choose with you every time you start to write, pick a time of the day you're usually free at and sit down to write even if at first you don't manage to write anything. I could get more scientific with this, but the idea is: the brain learns. What this does is it cues your brain that "It's time to write!" and the more consistent you are the more used to it your brain will be and the less effort it'll require for you to get in the mood for writing. You'll get less anxious if you don't have much free time by knowing you have a designated period, and will help you focus. If you have a lot of free time it will stop you from going in and out of your doc constantly for hours while not doing anything else because you're "writing right now". This is not incompatible with the previous point: here is where you find a place for and/or flesh out those little ideas you put down so far.
