As Suzuki and Aki work at an early morning photoshoot, the two end up having a heart-to-heart discussion regarding each of their love lives.
Full summary and highlight images under the cut
Chapter 41, part 1: Time to Say Goodbye, and
Published online on January 19th, 2024, available to purchase on Comic Days, or rent for 10 days on Yanmaga.
Tumblr media
Some time has passed since chapter 40, indicated by Suzuki and Aki looking less tan than they have in recent chapters. Riding in Saichi’s car, Suzuki still can’t stop thinking about the astonishing sight of Sugiki freezing up at the end of the Japan Inter. Saichi comments on how early it is, and that even following the competition Suzuki and Aki haven’t really had any time off. Suzuki replies that lately their photoshoots have always been this early, and internally keeps wondering what he should do about Sugiki. They stop to pick up a tired looking Aki, and Suzuki asks Saichi if they can stop by his old place on the way. Saichi asks if he’s contacted his father to let him know he’s coming, and Suzuki says no; since it’s so early, he’s just going to sneak in quickly and grab some stuff he needs.
As Suzuki walks into his father’s place, he thinks that even though it hasn’t been that long since he moved out, he still feels a bit nostalgic coming back here. In the entryway, he notices a pair of women’s shoes, and decides to come back another day instead. As he gets back into the car, Aki asks how his father was doing, and he excitedly mentions the shoes he saw, adding that he’s thought for a while that his father might be dating someone since he would sometimes not come home until morning.
Tumblr media
At the studio, as a makeup artist attends to the pair, Aki asks Suzuki what this photoshoot is for, and he notes that she’s seemed to be out of it lately, teasing that she must have found a man she’s interested in. Aki blushes and hides her face, confirming his suspicions as he grins and pats her head. He asks how far the relationship has gone, and Aki, not wanting to reveal too much with the makeup artist in the room, switches into Spanish to say that though they’ve only gone out to eat a few times, she feels like she wants to marry him, which causes Suzuki to spit out his drink. Aki says that he’s not aggressive at all, but is instead chivalrous and gives her a sense of security. Suzuki comments that he seems totally different from her usual type, and Aki nods in agreement. Suzuki asks if she’s really serious about the marriage comment, and she replies that they actually haven’t even kissed yet, and he’s so different from the other men she’s dated that she doesn’t know what to do. Suzuki insists that she should let him meet this guy so he can judge his chivalry for himself, but Aki refuses, saying that she can’t do that yet and it’s someone who’s involved in their work. At first Suzuki grins and says he thought it might be something like that, but then looks concerned as he remembers some past comments Aki made about Sugiki. He imagines the two of them looking sexy together as he asks if it’s him, but Aki denies it; she may be a huge fan of Sugiki, but she has absolutely no desire to marry him.
Tumblr media
A few shots are shown of the photoshoot (once again featuring the pair in a clothing ad that displays hardly any clothing at all), and afterward as they’re having a break, Aki brings up the fact that Suzuki seems unhappy lately. She asks if he’s aware of how he was dancing at the recent competition, and wonders what happened to make him like that. Ever since they were little, she’s been the one who embodies and conveys Suzuki’s feelings and expressions while they dance, somewhat like a shaman. She gets caught up in his emotions and feels the same things he does, so his happiness is her happiness, and his pain is her pain. Suzuki tries to act like nothing is wrong, but Aki interrupts to ask if this has something to do with the person he loves. Speaking Spanish again, she invites him to hug her like they did when they were little, affectionately calling him her older brother, and the two embrace.
Tumblr media
Suzuki wonders about how harsh his dancing must have been, and Aki says his rampage left her body pretty worn out. She’s always been able to tell when he’s having romantic problems since it comes through to her when they join hands, but this time even though it seems that he’s feeling a passionate love that overflows from his very core, he’s trying to act like it never even happened, completely disregarding his own desires. She grabs his hand like they’re in hold and tears flow from her eyes as she says aloud the things she feels from Suzuki, such as how he wants to be with the one he loves, how he yearns to touch them, how he doesn’t want to sully them, and how he loves them. Suzuki says she’s freaking him out as he pulls his hand away, and a startled Aki asks who the hell he is. This isn’t like him at all; the Shinya she knows rushes right in without a second thought when he finds someone special. Suzuki starts to talk about how they’re still connected to each other in some way, but Aki interrupts and says none of them can be happy like this; not her as his partner, not Suzuki himself, and not the one he loves. He needs to find happiness together with his beloved.

Chapter 41 Previews
After 4 months since the last update, Inoue has come back to give us an update on the series! On Comic Days chapter 41 is set to come out on January 19th, but according to Inoue-sensei, that isn't set in stone yet.
In two different tweets today she revealed two pages in the new chapter: One of Suzuki thinking of Sugiki in Saichi's car, and the other is Aki seemingly conversing with God Mode Suzuki, being brought to tears. She has also been described in the tweet as a shrine maiden.
I wonder what is going to happen... This chapter is entitled "Time To Say Goodbye, And", but I really have no idea what this could refer to. Suffice to say, I cannot wait to read this update!

Vol 1 "Tango" - Chapter 1 (1/3)
Not gonna comment on typography change if it's not significant + all of 2015 is more zoomed in and therefore loses the details on all borders of the page
2015 goes FirstName LastName and 2020 goes LastName FirstName. (except that one time 2015 says Sugiki Shinya for some reason. We'll see in the rest of the volume how it pans out)
2015 capitalizes "Standard", "Latino-Américaine" and "Danse Sportive" (that last one is only on page 1 tho idk), + capitalizes the beginning of every speech bubble, regardless of whether we were in the middle of a sentence of not.
2015: quick step - 2020: quickstep
The journals' names:
"Danser sa vie" (2015) -> "Dance Life" (2020)
"Danser à deux" (2015) -> "Dance with" (2020)
Honorifics:
Suzuki-san (2020) becomes M. Suzuki (Mr.) (2015) and Tajima-san (2020) becomes Mlle Tajima (Miss) (2015)
^this is making me wonder even more about the honorific use here
-sensei stays sensei in both versions
The "10 Dance" competition name stays as is in 2015 but becomes "10 Danses" in 2020, aka the direct translation of ten dances.
"Latino-américain" is abbreviated as:
Latino (2015)
Latin (2020 - complete with a T/N saying it's the abbreviation and stuff)
"On est tête de série en Latin/Latino, donc on fait:
dix danses par jour (ten dances a day - 2015)
quinze danses par jour (fifteen dances a day - 2020)
10 Dance description
Emphasis mine but 2020 Shinya, honey, you just said it was thirty, why are you saying forty, now?

Happy 10 Dance Day 2023!!!
The 20th of October is upon us once again, and this year I planned well enough to finish my artwork! It's a Dance With magazine cover featuring the two Shinyas. I'm honestly very happy with the outcome even though it took me ages... This is based on the GQ Hype magazine cover with the actors from Red, White, and Royal Blue. I've been wanting to draw a crossover since that movie came out!

10 Dance - chapter 41, part 2 summary
Suzuki comes to a decision upon hearing Aki's love advice. After stopping to have an important conversation with Norman, Suzuki heads down a new path.
Full summary and highlight images under the cut.
Chapter 41, part 2: Time to Say Goodbye, and
Published online on March 8th, 2024, available to purchase on Comic Days, or rent for 10 days on Yanmaga.
Suzuki places a call to Saichi as he runs down the sidewalk, telling him that their photoshoot is finished and asking if he can come pick up Aki. Suzuki says that he has something he needs to take care of alone, and thinks about what a complete idiot he’s been as he recalls Aki urging him to be happy with the one he loves.
Suzuki arrives out of breath at Norman’s place, who greets him with the comment that he didn’t think Suzuki would be coming to see him anymore. He asks if he wants to come in and have some tea, but Suzuki chooses to stay in the entryway. He states that this is the last time he’s coming here, and Norman asks if that’s because he’s in love with Sugiki. Internally, Norman wishes that Suzuki would choose him and be his Lovely, but aloud he says that Sugiki is now as vulnerable as a kitten due to his situation with Suzuki, and in his opinion Suzuki should take advantage of that and beat him while he’s down. However, Norman found out on the day of the Japan International what sort of relationship the two Shinyas shared. Suzuki says that makes no difference, and he's still going to win. Norman declares that their “lover’s contract” is hereby terminated and takes off his watch, saying that Suzuki can have it as payment for the use of his body. Norman thinks that he wishes he never met this man, and is peeved that he has to hand him over to Sugiki of all people. He internally recalls when Sugiki took the championship title away from him, and remembers the feelings he had while watching him dance that day, thinking that Sugiki was masculine and powerful yet still elegant, and his dynamic lead showed how competitive dance would evolve from there on; he was the man-made epitome of the ideal man. Aloud to Suzuki, he explains that this is a Patek brand watch, which he inherited it from a princess. It would probably fetch a very high price if he sold it, but this isn’t the kind of thing that should be sold off. It has some wear since Norman has used it for a long time, so he suggests that Suzuki could change out the band to a new one. If he doesn't want to keep it for himself, he should give it to someone trustworthy. Suzuki says that he can’t take such a valuable watch, but Norman insists that he have it, so Suzuki accepts and says he’ll take good care of it.
Tumblr media
Suzuki says “Thanks for everything” in Spanish and reaches forward for a hug, but Norman puts his hands up to stop him, saying he never wants to touch him in that way again. He says Suzuki truly is an awful man except when he's dancing. Dance is nothing without connection, and all sorts of feelings can arise when paired up with a partner. As the lead, they need to carefully envelop their partner like a treasure, and it's their duty to make them happily enjoy the dance; Norman came all the way to Japan to drill this idea into him. If a man who ruins people like Suzuki does can manage to incorporate Norman's technique, he may truly become unbeatable. He says starting today he will no longer be Suzuki's teacher and will instead become his master. With that, Norman tells him to get going; he's sure Suzuki has somewhere else he needs to be, so he shouldn't keep dawdling here. Suzuki thanks him and heads out the door. Once he's gone, Norman breaks down in tears.
Tumblr media
Suzuki rushes through the train station, thinking that he needs to see Sugiki right away. Meanwhile, at his studio, Sugiki raises his hand up and seems to sense something through the intangible thread that connects the two of them.
Tumblr media
Max, holding a bottle of sake, suddenly peeks in from the porch at Norman's place, asking why he's crying (addressing him as Edward). Norman yells that he can't just show up uninvited and to get out of his house. Max explains that he just wanted to share his sake with someone, but Norman tells him again to leave.

Chapter 41-2 Sneak Peak!
Inoue's teacher unexpectedly posted a tweet yesterday showing two draft pictures of what's to come in the next update (date not confirmed). The first is a topless Suzuki smirking, the second is Norman. Inoue's teacher joked of Suzuki being naked for fanservice again (although the last time it happened was quite a while ago!)
It seems like in the next update we will shift the story back to Suzuki and Norman, maybe some new developments about their relationship. I wonder what it'll be! I quoted saying that I died after seeing these pictures and she liked it, haha...

Vol 1 - The bonus cover strips (2/2)
(reminder that this was translated by the same person)
Also! I said it a while ago but forgot to remind it on the first post: Sugiki uses "vous" (formal you) to speak to Suzuki while Suzuki uses "tu" (informal you) to speak to Sugiki.
Also, once more, 2015 is more zoomed it, cutting out some details, such as Sugiki's mouth in the last panel or half of Fusako's head in panel 4.
Panel 1
(Take the opportunity to ask her the meaning of this word as well! "D*ck" what could be under that star?)
Pourriez-vous me l'expliquer ? "Paquet" Je présume qu'en contexte, il ne s'agit pas d'un colis emballé ?
(There's another word that's intriguing me. Could you explain it to me? "Package" I'm assuming that, in context, it doesn't refer to a parcel?)
So this is. Incredible. A change of speaker always change a lot of things, but as we know, Sugiki speaks very politely. I don't really know how that manifests in Japanese but I'm assuming the speaker can be easily identified in the original.
I am guessing it's actually Suzuki since he's holding his phone and showing it to Sugiki.
However, the "joke" takes a completely different turn in later panels and I have to say while the fact that Sugiki goes to ask other people (2015) makes more sense, the meaning of the rest of the page makes a lot more sense in 2020. Unless it's. A bit of slang I also have never heard of. But I'm struggling to see Fusako and Martha (that's Martha, right?) straight up lying to him.
Let's see below.
Panel 2
Suzuki is speaking with sparkles on his face
2015: Elle te le dira, va.
(She'll tell you. Go on.)
A moi ? Trop bien !
(You're asking me to teach you something? Me? Awesome!)
2015 is Suzuki going on with his "joke" while 2020 is reminiscent of chapter 2 when Sugiki compliments him and he goes all happy for a while and the whole "Suzuki wants to feel superior to Sugiki" thing.
Panel 3
Kanda speaking
(That's why I want you (either formal or plural) to see Suzuki-san!! Fusako, say something, dammit!!)
(I already told you (formal) that Suzuki-san hangs with dubious people! Don't make Fusako associate with that kind of delinquent, please!)
In one, Kanda could be speaking to both, in the other, he's clearly talking to Sugiki. 2015 Kanda is angrier than 2020 Kanda, and also way less polite! How did it go from "bon sang" to "please"? Julie Minchin, if you see this, please tell me, this is such an interesting change.
Panel 4
Hein ? Un "u" ?!
(Fusako: It's "u" and it describes a sexual organ. - Sugiki: "u"... - Kanda: What a world! Suzuki-sense only teaches him dirty words... Huh? A "u"?!)
(Fusako: It's a metaphor to talk about genitals. - Sugiki: "Package" - Kanda: Honestly, Suzuki-san's way of talking is way too vulgar... Such rudeness...!)
So I guess it confirms that Suzuki is supposed to be the one talking in panel 1, as he indeed goes to ask Fusako.
However, 2015 Fusako straight up lies to him, saying "u" instead of "i", which Kanda notes, while 2020 Fusako properly explains it to him.
Also, 2015 Kanda goes back and forth between -san and -sensei for Suzuki, which is weird.
Panel 5:
Martha speaking
2015: Pour un homme, on dit : "T'as une grosse bute* !" C'est aussi un compliment.
(To a man, it's said: "You have a big mound*!" It can also be a compliment.)
* "bute" spelled with only one t means either a tool used by farriers or a guillotine. The one meaning "mound" is "butte" with two t.
(Men will often use it to say they have a "big package". That being said, it's slang and women don't tend to use it.)
In 2015, Sugiki probably asks her about Fusako's explanation about the "u" to make "bute" instead of "bite". However the way she answers doesn't make any sense, unless she's making it all up as she goes just not to teach him about the word "dick"
Panel 6
Martha speaking
Sugiki's thoughts: Une bien jolie bute*...
(The first one: "your organ gives me shade like a beautiful mound*." And the second one: "your organ is like a beautiful flowery mound*." Do you (formal) understand? - Sugiki's thoughts: A very pretty mound*...)
*again with the orthography mistake on bute/butte
(In general... this is often meant in a positive way for the concerned person... but it's not used much nowadays. However, it says less vulgar than some other words... - Sugiki's thoughts: "a big package"...)
Again, 2015 Martha's explanation doesn't make any sense? Unless it's actually real slang that I've never seen before?? Like, a mound could potentially be used but in French, as far as I know it is not used. I've searched around a bit (lol haha bite *is shot*) and couldn't find anything recording such a use. It is an anagram for teub, which is bite in verlan but that seems a tad farfetched.
2020 Martha gives the truth and is actually informative about paquet, about its usage and vulgarity level etc.
The sense of both these explanations come directly from the initial word asked and how it's asked but it certainly doesn't paint the same character for the various people involved: Fusako and Martha are painted as bullshitters in 2015 and in a complete opposite way in 2020.
Pretty interesting if you ask me!
