やっぱこういう音出せるって凄い。ありきたりな言葉で言えば世界標準的。正直この人たちも世界的な観点で言えばよくあるバンドの一つに数えられてもおかしくはないかもしれない。ただパブロのシンプルだけど激しく、それでいて哀愁感あるギターサウンドはやはり大きな特徴である。
そして言うまでもなくKの痛みが増せば増す程鋭さを増すボーカリゼーション。何よりもいいのがリズム隊がこのバンドで輝くのは自分たちではないと認めていること。自分たちはメロディを輝かせるためにいるのだと、そのために徹底的にボトムを支えるのだという考えをもっていること。
正直音楽ってメロディが全て。こんな美しいメロディを生み出せる人たちに会ったら本当に一緒にバンドやりたくなるだろう。死ぬ気で支えたくなるだろう。PTPは大好きだけど正直この人たちの曲とKの大サビあたりに出すハイトーンの伸ばし方とか聞いてるとこんな音楽一生俺には出来ないんじゃないかって思ってしまう。悔しいほどに。
リンクの13monstersという曲は正直原曲の方がいいかも。この曲のサビは非常にいい。あんま先入観を与えたくもないし、この良さって言葉にしづらいのもあっていい、としか言えない。久々にこのKという男の死を本気で悲しんだ。
憧れってのは自分が持ち合わせていない要素を持つ人にこそ抱く感情であるように思える。Kが持つ負の感情やLAのカルチャーには俺はとても共感する。自由にきままに、攻撃的で、それでいて不安定で、みたいな要素は自分ととても近いもの感じる。その共感が俺を当初PTPに引きずった。しかし様々な曲を聞いていて最も強く感じた感情が憧れであり、その感情はひとえにKの歌唱の素晴らしさによるものだった。この歌はリアルだ。本当の自分を歌い上げている。
ボーカルをして難しいのはやっぱり自分らしさを歌に活かすこと。そこに尽きる。俺にはまだ自分の弱さを包み隠さず歌にする勇気がない。

『ここから少し話が飛びます。最近、僕が出会う有名なプロデューサーや仕事が出来る人、特にクリエイター気質の方はどこか「鬱」な属性を持っている事が多い。むしろ闇が深ければ深いほど、面白い作品を世に送り出すことができ、むしろそのために鬱りまくってるんじゃないか、というほど根が暗い。
かのアリストテレスは「哲学や詩、芸術や政治にすぐれた人はみな、憂鬱質的な気質があるし、鬱病に悩んだ者もいる」という意味の記述を残しているそうです。その他改めて考えてみると、歴史上名を残している偉人は精神的に病んでいるケースが多い。つまり、偉業と精神的な闇はセットである、と。
調べてみると、実際こうした「創造性のダークサイト」についての研究はなされており、例えばコロンビア大学のModupe Akinola氏は、2008年に「The Dark Side of Creativity: Biological Vulnerability and Negative Emotions Lead to Greater Artistic Creativity」という論文を発表し、下記のように記している。

言うまでもなく創造性ってのは人間の感情に結びついてる。特にこういった暗い感情と。ここまで暗く、それでも前を向こうと必死な姿を連想させる人の歌を聞けるとは、そしてその人の死がこうして訪れるとは思わなかった。hideの死はどちらかと言えば事実でしかなかった。あくまで過去であった。hideはセンスやスタイルに憧れる。根本のメロディが異常に俺の心の琴線に触れたわけではない。
もちろん曲はかっこいい。ただああいう音楽をやっていた事とかそういう事実がかっこいいな、というあくまで過去の人間を見る感じ。ただKは本当にただただ音楽の部分、彼の歌のメロディがどうしようもなく響くのだ。だからこそもっと彼の音を聞いていたかった。単純に俺のスターで居続けて欲しい。新しい歌を聞きたい。聞けないなんて本当に悲しすぎるよ

SPRING 2016 UPDATE!
Hi everybody!!!
It’s been a while since we checked in here. We apologize. It’s been a whirlwind as of late.
We took a couple months off after our last tour show on Halloween ‘15. In that time we buried ourselves in our studio. We worked on new songs and released “I Want Candy” as a single which was immediately picked up by Chirp Radio in Chicago as well as Rocker’s Dive Radio worldwide and a few others. We are very grateful!
We have done our first two shows of the 2016 “HOME” Tour. The 1st was a house party for our #1 fan’s 14th birthday. His name is Micah and his superpower is autism. He attends quite a few of our shows and knows every song by heart. We had an absolute blast playing in his house for a great crowd!!!
Our next show was a very very special one. We were asked by Chicago Music Guide (Who we LOVE!) to do a benefit show of our choosing at EvenFlow in Geneva, Il for Chicago Music Guide’s series Local Artists Supporting Local Causes.
We chose to support the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Illinois. A cause that’s very close to us. At the time Jamie’s father Sergio was living comfortably in a beautiful assisted living facility. He passed 10 days before the show while riding in the car with Jamie’s mother on a sunny day. He was holding her hand when he passed instantly of a heart attack.. a pretty good way to go.
We raised thousands of dollars for Alzheimer’s Association, sold the venue out. had a truly awesome raffle filled with Cubs tickets, craft brewery gift certificates and a bevy of other goods and services!
We thank our fans/friends/families, Chicago Music Guide, EvenFlow, the Alzheimers Association of Great Illinois and 2 great acts that opened the day... David Michael from the band Greywall who did another epic acoustic set, and Koopa & Los Mysterios who floored the room with what is arguably the best rockabilly show in the entire midwest!
This past month we filmed a song for NPR Tiny Desk Concert Series.

Property of Saints hit up the Township stage once more this past Friday, June 7th with 13 MONSTERS and STILL MACHINE. A night of heavy tunes and hearty company, we were super stoked to hit up one of our favorite Chicago venues this weekend. Looking back on 2015 it was an amazing year. We were not only on rotation on a ton of stations but on Chirp Radio ( one of the biggest online for indie music) and we were a featured concert for a Chirp Radio show. We picked up a lot of fans. We played with a couple dozen bands..some of which we never thought we'd ever be on the same stage with. We met and befriended a couple of our influences in rock. We discovered some fantastic new bands, and sadly watched a few burn out. We did 3 shows on Periscope. And a 4 night stint at the Fringe Fedtival. We went from a DIY basement project to an actual profitable business. We were voted one of the best bands in Chicago. We had a beer labeled after us 13-MONSTERS IPA by Mikrophone Brewing. We started Circus Side Show Records. And we did 37 shows. (With the possible exceptions of U2 and Katy Perry, we don't think anyone else hit that number :) 2016 is shaping up to be bigger, with us traveling out of state (finally!!) and a new digital album. Thanks to everyone for the support. Cuz I'll let y'all in on a little secret; When I started 13-Monsters in 2011 I had no expectations of ever doing a live show.
