Camp McCarran 11/2/81
On my way out of Fiend Territory, I stopped by Camp McCarran to check in with the news. Although what I did helped relieve pressure on one side of the Strip, the NCR has a bucketload of problems on the inside. Talking to Boone's old squad and Major Morales whose husband's body they left for the birds, it seems the NCR even fails to take care of their own. I've got no love for them but for now, my help could give them more opportunities to fix what some of what they're doing wrong.
First off, they've captured a bona fide centurion of Caesar's Legion! As an 'outside contractor,' Lieutenant Boyd was more than happy to let me have a turn at interrogation, and I was more than happy to provide. The centurion told me that there was something wrong with Caesar, that he's been suffering from great headaches and is diminishing in his ability to lead the legion.
To add to that, the NCR has a spy on their hands. Someone had been sneaking into the control tower to steal supplies, and somehow troop movements are getting to the enemy. All it took was a bit of waiting and I caught the mole red-handed as he was setting up to blow up the monorail.
But most interesting of all was the mission Dr. Hildern of the OSI sent me on. He spoke up a vault in the mountains west of here that had lush gardens blooming from its entrance. It's almost too good to be true. I had heard rumors of a similar sanctuary back east and figured something like this could prove invaluable to my father's research. I should check this out.

JOSEPH SMITH: "A CHOICE SEER"
With the abundance of blessings found in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, it would be interesting to part the veil of this "choice seer" called Joseph Smith.
Prophecies about Joseph Smith and his divine works are spelt out in the Bible and the book of Mormon. For Joseph Jacob who was sold into Egypt prophesied of him saying:
"Thus saith the Lord unto me: A choice seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins; and he shall be esteemed highly among the fruit of thy loins. And unto him will I give commandment that he shall do a work for the fruit of thy loins, his brethren, which shall be of great worth unto them, even to the bringing of them to the knowledge of the covenants which I have made with thy fathers.
His name shall be called after me; and shall be after the name of his father. And he shall be like unto me.." 2 Nephi 3:7.15
It is this same Joseph Smith prophet Isaiah made reference to when he said: "And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned." Isaiah 29:12.
Prophets of old who had the priesthood in some occasions made used of the urim and thimmim to have knowledge of the Gods and to translate scriptures. They are seers.
In this dispensation, Joseph Smith had the privilege to use the urim and thimmim to retranslate the Bible and the book of Mormon into English language.
The applying of our humble heart and willingness to learn and know truth of eternities; going through the book of Mormon and the translation of the Bible by Joseph Smith will give us a sound and rooted proof that many truth pertaining to our salvation were Lost, but now restored through the choice seer.
Now we are free and well fed spiritually. This confirms the words of Isaiah when he said: "They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine." Isaiah 29:24.
The knowledge of the many mansions and those who will inherit were brought down for men to know by Joseph Smith. It now our choice to choose the one we prefer. D&C 76.
TODAY, we have living seers. May we hear from them come April 1st-2nd 2023.

I colored an old picture of Nephi that I had drawn years ago (probably in 2018). It was sitting as a sketch for a long time and I finally got it done. I do like how it turned out given I had never drawn Nephi before, though if I do draw him again it’ll be when my art has improved. Still, I am proud of myself. He is one of my top favorite prophets from the Book of Mormon.

I just got home from meeting a church friend, and the first thing I did was kneel down and pray. It’s been months since I’ve prayed down on my knees, and it felt so amazing to finally do it again. I’m always so scared to pray so I just never do it, but when I’m talking to the Lord I realise theres nothing to be scared of. Nine times out of ten I won’t feel the spirit when I pray, and I won’t receive any answers, but I still feel like He hears me. It’s such an amazing gift and privilege to be able to talk to my Father like that, and I feel so much love for Him when I am talking to Him

REPENT! to be the best version of ourselves. Change your heart and mind to be like christ. 
Choose one attribute to focus on at a time. Constantly ask god for help, but don't be selfish.

Caution- don't feel guilty, unworthy, or unloved; that is not what life is about.

Wait and trust in god. Pray for the lord to open your eyes. Understand how god sees you. 
Ask yourself: what am I doing that I should stop and what should I be doing? 
Stop looking at your phone. I think it's a good time to multitask, but the spirit told me to stop and the next day, while in line at the grocery store, I looked at the people around me instead. I saw old man and struck up a conversation with him based on what was in his cart (cat food). He said it was his birthday so I wished him a happy birthday. This guy needed me to see him. 
A story of a friend who separated from her husband and hoped nobody would talk to her at church. A young woman kept looking back at her and came up to her after sacrament meeting. The young woman told her she loved her and they became friends and it helped her because she felt noticed and cared about. 
Ask god to help you see others and act to affirm their lives. This is how we identify our own purpose.

Righteousness. Female followers of brigham young found career opportunites in Utah and friends in the native americans. (Gave a whole bullshit Utah thanksgiving story, complete with rewriting history so white people can feel better about themselves for feeding the natives). There is unity in respect. Historically, we have not been perfect, but that is the goal. We don't need to have all the blessings of god to be righteous. Love god and fellow man to live in eternal peace and happiness with god. "Historical record" in 1 nephi shows there were no happier people because of righteousness. But then that society was destroyed so much that mormon asked how they would avoid punishment. We live in that latter time, not unity. Our challenge is to lift and bless society as a whole. Demonstrated by ethnic harmony and an all inclusive doctrine. Unity and diversity are not opposites. All races and colors are children of god. Laws written in god's chosen land (US) were written by imperfect men, but inspired by god for equal treatment of all men. Remember that we were onced very opressed because we wanted to share jesus' love. If you are not united, you are not god's children. Gosple culture is greater than regional cultures. We honor pioneers because of their struggles.

Supplying the world with temples is a holy duty. 
Sacred ordinaces lead to exaltation. 
"Temples rise above the ways of the world. Every temple... stand as testaments to our faith and eternal life and the joy of spending it with our families and heavenly father. They increase understanding of the godhead and the everlasting gospel and commitment to live and teach truth and our willingness to follow the example of jesus." 
I learned an important lesson while visiting my father in law as he was dying; that temple recommends are important, even while dying. 
The worthiness interview "is not about do's and dont's. It is about finding your worthiness and to testify of your devotion to the gospel teachings." 
(I stopped paying attention for a while.) 
Hunter said his biggest desire was to have every member hold a temple recommend. 
Come get yo rec's! "Whether you have access to a temple or not, it is still important to remain and prove your worthiness." 
(I'm really struggling to pay attention to this guy and holy shit he stressed "be patient" while I was typing that.)

My examples will be US-centric, but I'm sure that the issues the US face are universal, right? 
Destrucitve behavior in political statements are not good. 
Remember that JC said to love your enemies. Contention is of the devil, not JC. It isn't easy. Seek and ye shall find the strength to love. 
Follow the laws of man. 
Nobody can make us angry, it is our choice to be angry. 
(Reference to The King and I-) learn about other people's culture. 
Don't participate in rioting. 
Wait, he's supporting the first ammendement- oh, the stress here is on the word "peaceful". We must do better to end racism. But remember to be peaceful! No violence. Anarchy is evil. Lincoln said "there is no greivance that is a fit object of redress by mob law". It undermines individual rights, not protects. 
The US was started by diverse people! We're inherintly diverse! Here's a diverse (british) example!
AFTERNOON SESSION

There's a 2030 sustainable development agreement thingy. It's got 17 goals including- no poverty, no hunger, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, and decent work. It is interesting and important. 
More important is a sustainable society. 
Two biblical examples: 1. The city of enoch. They were of one heart and one mind. 2. The 1st generations of nephites an lamanites. No envies nor strifes. No murders or lying. No happier people than them. Love thy neighbor. Every man seeking the interests of his neighbor. Virtues uphold these societies. 
Then they became exceedingly wicked and millions died in wars amongst themselves. 
"When people turn from a sense of accountability to god and begin to trust instead in the arm of flesh (?)", disaster lurks. 
A good life is more important than a long life. 
I'm so fucking blessed, so this really isn't a good topic for me, but here we are. 
The light of christ is what uneducated people call a consience. 
"When one has no higher god than himself, and seeks no greater good than satisfying his own appetites and preferences, the effects will be manifest in due course. A society, for example, in which individual consent is the only constraint on sexual activity is a society in decay. Adultery, promiscuity, elective abortion and out of wedlock births are but some of the bitter fruit that grow out of the immorality sanctioned by the sexual revolution." This leads to poverty and fatherless families, sometimes in multiple generations, and deficient education and mental destruction. 
"Our joyous message is that there is a better way through god... (the core truths of this message are) god lives, he is the heavenly father of our spirits, that as a manifestation of his love, he's given us commandments that lead to a fullnes of joy with him, that JC is the son of god and our redeemer, that he suffered and died to atone for sins on condition of our repentance, that he rose from the dead, bringing to pass the resurrection of human kind, and that we will all stand before him to be judged."

My son had cancer. It was hard. He was in lots of pain, but still wanted to go to church even when his mom suggested he stay home. He knew he inspired others when they saw him there, representing the savior by willingly suffering to serve. 
All youth programs are there to help them be more like JC. 
They are surrounded by things that keep helping them do that, but they're still making mistakes, so parents and leaders need to step up (potterheads grab your wands).

Family of 10 is hated by neighbors, nobody likes them until their house burns down. Then they were showed kindness, hope, and understanding by their neighbors helping them. 
"Our 2020 bicentenniel proclamation begins with the profoundly inclusive promise that god loves his children in every nation of the world. Each of us in every nation... god promises covenants, and invites us to come partake of his abundant joy and goodness. God's love for all people is affirmed throughout scripture that love encompasses the abrahamic covenent, gathering his scattered children, and his plan of happiness. In the house of faith, there are to be no strangers, no foreigners, no rich and poor, no outside others. As fellow citizens with the saints, we're invited to help the world for the better, from inside out; one person, one family, one neighborhood at a time. This happens when we share the gospel." 
Church materials are available in many regions and languages. We're gonna focus on that for a while. (And I stopped paying attention again. This dude is boring af. And I have a high threshold for boring right now) 
Talking about how members do charity work.

Some kid said it was the greatest day of his life to meet this guy who talks to the profit a couple of times a week. The story is given with the obvious topic of "we thank thee oh god for a prophet". 
Prophets tell us to prepare for crisis. 
We understand your struggles and want to express that there are better days ahead. Church leaders can help you. 
The lord loves effort. 
Have stores of food and money, but don't go to extremes in your efforts to establish those things. 
We have a brochure on finances with quotes from people about how god will provide. 
Remember Joseph in Egypt. 
"All things are spiritual to the lord and not at any time has he given us a law which is temporal." 
Manage your finances and have food storage.

The feeling of Alma remembering his sins are as painful as passing a kidney stone (?!). 
Repentance will bring us relief. 
We have no idea how bad our suffering will be if we don't repent. 
"Medical science, professional counseling or legal rectification can help alleviate such suffering but note, all good gifts including these, come from the savior. Regardless [of] the causes of our worst hurt or heartaches, the ultimate source of relief is the same: JC. He alone holds the full power and healing balm to correct every mistake, right every wrong, adjust every imperfection, mend every wound, and deliver every delayed blessing." 
When you feel like nobody could understand your suffering, remember that jesus can. 
"Suffering in righteousness helps qualify your for, rather than distinguishes you from, god's elect."

An Indian dude didn't want to turn his back on his culture in order to convert with the rest of his family. But JC was able to open his eyes to a different viewpoint. 
Our original culture is the culture of Adam and Enoch. It is the greatest of all cultures. There is no "us v them" mentality in the greatest of all cultures. 
"We believe that we are responsible and accountable for ourselves, each other, the church, and our world. Faith in JC is the first principle of our culture, and obedience to his teachings and commandments is the outcome.” 
“It is a culture of covenants and ordinances, high moral standards, sacrifice, forgiveness, repentance, and caring for the temple of our bodies. It is a culture of the preisthood, the authority to act in god's name, the power of god to bless his children. It edifies and enables individuals to be better people, leaders, mothers, fathers, and companions- and it sanctifies the home. In the culture of christ, women are elevated to their proper and eternal status. They are not subservient to men, as in many cultures in today's world, but full and equal partners here and in the world to come.” 
“The family is the basic unit of eternity. The perfection of the family is worth any sacrifice" because, as has been taught, "no other success can compensate for failure in the home." 
This culture is concerned with things of lasting worth. 
It is inclusive, not exclusive. 
"Because this culture results from the application of our savior's teachings, it helps provide a healing balm of which our world (cue crying) is in such desperate need. What a blessing it is to be a part of this grand and (voice wavering) *noble* way of life. The church is hardly a western society or an american cultural phenomenon. it is an international church, as it was always meant to be. New members from around the world bring richness, diversity, and excitement into our ever-growing family!" (hallelujah!)

Because of a threat from the US military, the SLC temple was buried during constrution. When the threat had passed, they excavated it and found that many stones in the foundation had cracked and were replaced. "Finally, the saints could sing How Firm a Foundation and know their holy temple was built on a foundation that would last for generations.” 
“This story can teach us how god uses adversity to bring about his purposes." Which is an appropriate topic these days.
We mourn with those who have lost loved ones to covid. 
"My message today is that even though this pandemic is not what we wanted or expected, god has prepared his children and his church for this time." 
We will do more than survive, we will move forward and we will be better as a result. 
We are like seeds that must be buried before they can sprout. "The love of god and blessing of the restored gospel of JC will bring something unimaginable to spring forth." 
Hardships strengthen our character. 
"What we learn from biblical examples? 1. The righteous are not given a free pass that allows them to avoid the valleys of shadow... 2. Our heavenly father knows that we suffer, and because we are his children, he will not abandon us..." 
"Our best days are ahead of us, not behind us. This is why god gives us modern revelation."

Stories of new/potential converts going to appointments early because of excitement. "Our missionaries are busier than ever."
WOMEN'S SESSION
Sharon Eubank
Story of a kid rewarded with his favorite pie for doing chores. He was selfish when his sister asked if she and her friend could have some because they didn't earn it, but changed his mind later. This showed that he was willing to change and show kindness to those who didn't deserve it. 
"By union of feeling, we obtain power with god." 
I don't like this world. It sucks and I want to make it better and sometimes I feel powerless, but I have done lots of soul searching and have three suggestions. 
1. Have mercy. Jacob 2:17, but replace the word "substance" with the word "mercy". We need more mercy in our ministering. "If you would have god have mercy on you, have mercy on each other." 
2. Make your boat swing. Rowing definition: "swing" is when all are rowing in such perfect unison that not a single action is out of sync. Somehow, individuality is crucial to this; clones couldn't do it. "Differences can be turned to advantage instead of disadvantage." This makes you go fast and they won because of that. 
3. Clear away the bad as fast as the good can grow. Jacob 5: good tree is planted in good ground but was corrupted. A servant asks that the tree be given another chance and then the tree grows good fruit. JC is like the owner of the vinyard, and gives us mercy, if we can give it to each other. 
"I believe the change we seek in ourselves and in the groups we belong to will come less by activism and more by actively trying every day to understand one another" because we're building zion. 
As women, we have broad influence to remove prejudice and build unity. "I offer this invitation: be part of a collective force that changes the world for good." We're supposed to help others. "The women of this church have the potential to change society."

This year has given us many surprises that have left us broken. 
Personal story about getting a piano. One of the delivery guys slipped and broke it. The delivery guys went back to arrange the delivery of a new piano, but her husband asked if it could just be repaired instead. The manager said "the wood is broken, and once the wood is broken, it can never sound the same." 
We are like the broken piano, feeling broken and that we'll never be the same again. "However, as we come unto JC by exercising faith in him, repenting, and making and keeping covenants, our brokenness, whatever it's cause, can be healed [by the savior's healing power to make us better than we were.]." Faith in god heals us. 
Story of Alma where god promised to ease their burdens.

The savior is a refuge from the storm. 
(Is there a rule that women can't have more than 20% original content in their talks? What is with all the quotes from other people, with barely anything to make them relate to each other?)

Shit sucks right now. Covid and election shit, the election shit is bad "the most severe many of the oldest of us can ever remember." People are dealing with "the many adversities of mortality: poverty, racism, sickness, job loss, wayward children, bad/no marriages, and the effects of sin" but "be of good cheer." (broken record much?) 
Poor JS had lots of adversities! But he still managed to "maintain his native cheery temperament and the love and loyalty of his people." The pioneers had it hard, too, but they still "were of hope and good cheer." 
(If I heard this right) The orignal missionaries were sent out for up to 7 years. 
The presidency loves you and cares about you and we pray for you (y'all should look up 'ill pray for you' by Jaron Lowenstein, btw. i promise it's hilarious). 
"There is boundless power in the doctrine of the restored gospel of JC. Our unshakeable faith in that doctrine guides our steps and gives us joy. It enlightens our minds and gives strength and confidence to our actions. This guidance and enlightenment and power are promised gifts we have recieved from our heavenly father. HonesTEA time! (Notice how this isn't a Hot Take Wednesday post.)
I'm going to state a few facts that led me to my conclusion, and then I'll share the HonesTEA. (Please note: HonesTEA is made from observations that have been steeping in my brain, but as it contains no actual "tea", it is not in violation of the Word of Wisdom)
Prep time: About 20 years for me to gather everything, but assembly only took about 2-3 weeks.
Yield: Quite large, so pace yourself or risk getting overwhelmed.
For this HonesTEA, you'll need the following facts:
- The only perfect person to walk the earth, in the history of ever, is Jesus Christ
- God the Father, and his Son have knowledge and power that is eternal and all-encompassing.
- They have only ever had imperfect people to work with to share the gospel and change the world.
- Man's knowledge is still growing, and thus not all-encompassing.
- Joseph Smith, a single man, was given revelation to change the world.
- Each individual on Earth is entitled to their own personal revelation that they can use to help those within their responsibility (eg. fathers for their families, leaders for their congregations, etc).
- Using the knowledge he was given, Joseph Smith was able to share his vision with others and establish the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
- The purpose of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is to bring others closer to Christ through obedience to His laws and ordinances.
- The Church is led through continuing revelation, and we believe there is still much to be revealed before Christ comes again.
- The prophets and apostles, though led by God, are still men, and thus imperfect. They aren't heathens, but they can make mistakes just like you and me.
- When a person makes a mistake, or sins, the expected next steps is to admit the mistake and then take actions to make right what was wronged.
Now for the recipe:
- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is, as most people would consider, a good organization. The intention that all mankind can know their Creator and Heavenly Parents, and establish a relationship with Them that results in a desire to live with Them again is inherently good. 200 years ago, a young man with a question about how to move forward with his life started the ball rolling to bring us to the Church as it stands today. The trail has not been smooth or steady, but things have definitely come a long way.
- Throughout those years, due to the imperfect nature of man, there have been mistakes. There have been policies enacted and revoked, statements made and then rejected. This is not unusual, because again, man is imperfect.
- Some of these actions/policies/statements originally claim to have been inspired.
- When they are later renounced, that also comes through the claim of having been inspired.
Now here's where things might get lumpy, so pay careful attention:
- We (LDS general membership) believe that God is no respecter of persons, and that all are alike unto Him, both male and female, bond and free; because of this, there's nothing He does to actively bar anyone from coming unto Him.
- From 1830-1852 there were no bars to who was received into the church, and allowed full access to the blessings and ordinances of the Gospel.
- In 1852, the policy to restrict priesthood ordination was put into place, with no explanation that still stands today as a reasonable excuse for it to have been put into place. This policy also restricted black members from ordinances beyond baptism. Elijah Abel, a man who had received the priesthood before the ban, petitioned to receive his endowment in 1879 and was denied. Jane Manning James asked to be able to perform ordinances for her ancestors and was only allowed to do baptisms for the dead, and nothing more.
- In the min-1900's (nearly 100 years later, for those who are counting), clarification was made that the restriction was solely for men of black African descent. Other dark-skinned races, such as Fijians, Pacific Islanders, and Australian Aborigines had no such restrictions.
- Changes didn't seem possible until the question of how the charge to "go ye therefore, and teach all nations" could be fulfilled with the policy of exclusion in place.
- It wasn't until Church leaders were faced with the fact that they were asking members to build temples that they would later not be able to enter that there seems to have actually been a serious supplication with the Lord about what to do.
- June-September, 1978 (136-ish years for those who are counting). President Kimball receives the revelation to rescind the ban, and over the next few months it is unanimously received by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the other General Authorities, and eventually the general membership in attendance at 148th Semiannual General Conference.
- Now, in a Gospel Topics essay (published in 2013), it states "Today, the Church disavows the theories advanced in the past that black skin is a sign of divine disfavour or curse, or that it reflects unrighteous actions in a premortal life; that mixed-race marriages are a sin; or that blacks or people of any other race or ethnicity are inferior in any way to anyone else. Church leaders today unequivocally condemn all racism, past and present, in any form" (footnote here references a talk from President Hinkley April 2006).
- This is good. This is very good. So why did the publication of the Come, Follow Me book (copyright 2020) intended to help families and children include a section about 2 Nephi 5 that was *very racist*?
- Granted, once this was pointed out, the online version was quickly updated and a statement was made by Irene Caso (a Church spokeswoman) about the error. (I can only find this statement in the article published by the Salt Lake Tribune, it doesn't seem to be anywhere on the Church's website)
Once you've let that steep for a good hour or two, let's proceed:
- How is any of this explained in a way that doesn't include racism?
- I *refuse* to believe that God is racist.
- Don't blame God for the shortcomings/mistakes of man. (Article of Faith 2, anyone?)
- I hope whoever was put in charge of that section of Come Follow Me was suspended, possibly even fired. I honestly do. And probably whoever their quality-checker was.
- Because you know. You KNOW. That the Church isn't some small-town publishing company. You would *expect* there to be multiple quality checks before a World-Wide MANUAL is sent out TO THE ENTIRE WORLD.
- (side-note here as I am monolingual, I don't know if this was also translated into other languages. BUT IF IT WAS HOW WAS IT NOT CAUGHT?)
- (second side-note, if you do some research on blackness in the Topical Guide, you'll come across Joel 2:6, which in its footnote states that blackness is a Hebrew idiom for gloom. Take that nugget and apply it to the Hebrew-influenced Nephi's journal [also known as 1st and 2nd Nephi] and enjoy some new perspective)
- I'm fortunate enough that I'm not seeing blatant racism posted across my social media, but if it can make it into the Church's manual, then it is in the Church.
- With the world in the climate it's currently in, I would looooove to see some tangible, solid evidence behind the Church's claim to "unequivocally condemn all racism".
- Maybe it's through revoking temple access? Maybe it's through being unable to take the Sacrament? Whatever it is, there's some serious application of repentance that's needed.
- In any case, there are some Major Misdeeds done to our POC brothers and sisters, and the leadership of the Church has been alive for most of the reparation process (Ulisses Soares would've been ~18 at the time of the ban being removed.).
- But we're 42 years into it, and we still have so much more to do.
- All is not well in Zion.
- And I don't care what your calling in the Church is.
- If you're racist, you are preventing yourself from receiving the revelation necessary to help those who are looking up to you for guidance.
- And you need to fix that.

1st Nephi Ch. 22
So my ex wife and I have been reading scriptures together. I have challenged her to a 30 days challenge with the hopes it would cause us to reconnect. While I do not know for sure if that has been the result, I can report that I have found a love of reading the scriptures with her, and want to report what sticks out to us as we continue our way through the Book of Mormon. We have made many attempts in years prior to read on a daily basis, but we always failed. This is the furthest we have gotten... The last chapter of 1st Nephi
The thing that stuck out to me here is how Nephi describes what he has read. He talks about churches, and how they pollute the word of God. This sticks out to me.  How often do we want to only hear what we want to hear? How often is it hard to accept the words of the Prophets and Apostles when they directly contradict what we want to do or our own way of thinking? It can be hard, and it is amazes me that instead of heading their counsel, we can simply find another church that will teach what we want to be true (Please note, I am guilty of this on so many different levels at so many different points in my life). 
Verse 23 illustrated this beautifully.
23) For the time speedily shall come that all churches which are built up to get gain, and all those who are built up to get power over the flesh, and those who are built up to become popular in the eyes of the world, and those who seek the lusts of the flesh and the things of the world, and to do all manner of iniquity...
My ex wife told me that she felt the power behind this chapter. It offers us a warning, and at least to me... a very clear message about God’s plan and how Satan will try to use half truths to attempt to lead us astray.

THE TRUTH OF ETERNITIES All began while we were in our premortal state. In the same way which the plan of salvation was arranged,- premortal, mortal and postmortal, so is the truth of eternities for us to learn and grow. Of course, we have no recollection of truth we were taught there. Yet here on earth, we begin again to learn truth line upon line, precept upon precept -from scriptures, prophets and apostles. As we continue on that ladder, the spirit will remind us of the certains that occurred there. Right from Adam and Eve to Moses, the truth of the atonement of Jesus Christ was taught and practiced in symbols -animal sacrifices. But his arrival ended the ordinances and he used his blood to atone for us. That we may know he came to fulfill the laws and ordinances, he said: "Behold, I am he that gave the law, and I am he who covenanted with my people Israel; therefore, the law in me is fulfilled, for I have come to fulfil the law; therefore it hath an end. For behold, the covenant which I have made with my people is not all fulfilled; but the law which was given unto Moses hath an end in me. 3 Nephi 15:5,8. I am aware that many of us are searching for truth of eternities and have run from pillar to post to find it. Amos 3:11-13. In this dispensation of the fullness of times, all truth has been restored through prophet Joseph Smith. I do not know the truth you are looking for. However, I give you a promise that the humble heart applied to search the LDS gospel library, (download from play store); having the gift of the Holy Ghost, your taste will be quenched. Nevertheless, the Lord himself have specified a place where we can receive truth of eternities -temples. Highly valued, he said: "For I deign to reveal unto my church things which have been kept hid from before the foundation of the world, things that pertain to the dispensation of the fulness of times." D&C 124:41. As we search for truth may we not forget that truth will spring out during the Lord's world general conference come April 1st-2nd 2023. My Story
Up until about a year ago, I have usually been pretty come and go in the church. I was inactive when I was 8 years old, so I got baptized at 9, came for a few weeks, and then went inactive again. After I left primary, my mom was called as a Young Women’s Advisor, and so I would go to Young Women’s when she had to teach, but never really took the gospel seriously. I didn’t have a strong testimony, I didn’t read my scriptures, I did pray..but only when I wanted something from God, and around 8th or 9th grade, I wasn’t even sure I believed in God. I was really sad all the time, and truthfully I felt alone, but I never could really pinpoint what I was lacking. Surely it wasn’t my lack of faith, it was probably just the angsty teenage phase that everyone goes through. I never really knew how badly I needed my Savior until Girl’s Camp last summer.
 The night before Girl’s Camp, I wasn’t planning on going. My sister was so excited, but I couldn’t have cared less. I was planning on working my summer job and hanging out with my friends, not spending a week at church camp. I had this predetermined view that it was this strict, boring place where all we did was basic Sunday School lessons and sit in a chapel all day. But on my way home from my summer job, my mom, Robbyn and I were all getting ready to buy her the last things she needed for camp, and I felt this impression that I should go. I didn’t recognize it at the time, but I know now that it was the Spirit prompting me to go. I had thought that Heavenly Father had forgotten about me. I didn’t feel close to Him at all. So why was I getting this prompting? I knew that I needed to listen to it and give camp a try. So, I told my mom, who was shocked at first, but she texted my Young Women’s leader immediately, and that night I packed my bags for camp.
 I’m not going to lie to you, I was still having doubts that I was making the right choice on the way there. I didn’t really know any of the girls from our ward, and like I said, I’m pretty shy. I was fairly quiet on the way there, until Makena pulled out her kazoo. Though I was still nervous, I felt comforted knowing that I was going to be spending the next week with her as a 3rd year. Except, when I got there, I found out I was a 4th year. Instead of spending the next week mainly with someone I knew from this ward, I was put into a cabin with 4 other girls I didn’t know, all from the same ward. I was put into a panic all over again. I was certain that my only friends for the week were going to be the cabin moms and my sister.
 I was offered to be switched to a 3rd year, but I didn’t want to have to put anyone through the trouble, so I gave the 4th year cabin a try. The very first second I walked in the cabin, I knew that I was going to be just fine. My humor matched the other girls, we all shared similar interests, and we all just seemed to click. For the first time in a long time, I said a silent prayer of thanks to Heavenly Father.
 The second night of camp, I opened my Book of Mormon independently and by my own will for the first time ever. I started at 1st Nephi, and just read. I got to the part where Nephi is visited by the Spirit and the Iron Rod and the Tree of Life is explained.
To this day, this story is still one of my favorites. Nephi asked the Spirit what the Iron Rod stands for, and he said that it represented the word of God.
  1st Nephi Chapter 15 Verse 24 says “It was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish, neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.” I felt the Spirit so strongly then, knowing that I had a way to be happier. I had spent so long in darkness, not holding strong to the Iron Rod. I had been fooled by Satan to believe that I was not a child of God. I instantly knew that if I wanted to continually feel the Spirit as strongly as I had at camp, I had to hold strong to the Iron Rod, even if it meant making sacrifices. Chapter 15 Verse 25 says “Wherefore, I, Nephi, did exhort them to give heed unto the word of the Lord; yea, I did exhort them with all the energies of my soul, and with all the faculty which I possessed, that they would give heed to the word of God and remember to keep his commandments always in all things.” I knew the importance now of the Gospel, and why I needed it in my life.
I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I see it affect my life every day when I read it. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us, and in a way, I am thankful for the trials I went through while I was inactive because it helped me realize just how much I needed my Savior.  I love Him, and I hope that through these posts you can see and feel that love, too. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

June 1st 1978. A 40 year celebration this year by the LDS church for allowing people of color to enter their temples.
Lets not forget that the Book of Mormon is still an extremely racist book and considered LDS canon.
