Cringetober Day 5 - MS Paint

I have a confession.

I did not start out with MS Paint.

Instead I went up to my dad one day and said "I want to do digital art what's a program I can do that in?" My dad, knowing nothing about digital art but trying his best, pointed me to GIMP.

GIMP is not a digital art program, at least that's not its primary purpose, and personally I'd advise against using it as one. It is however, quite a good image manipulation program (I know this because that's what GIMP stands for). I still use it now for image editing.

But that is not the point of this post. The point is to introduce to you my very first piece of digital art.

See, I wasn't using MS Paint, but given my knowledge I might as well have been. I was nine, I'll cut myself some slack for this one.

I got better at it, of course, you all know that. I kept drawing, trying new things, learning what the program could do. Then in 2018 I got an Intuos drawing tablet and started using Krita, boy was that a game changer.

So for tonight only, please enjoy my old attempts at digital art. Dated between 2014 and 2016.

This one in particular shows about a years worth of progress, and I quite like it. It's particularly impressive when you realise that, unlike a lot of my later pieces drawn with a mouse, this one wasn't rotoscoped from a sketch. At least I don't think it was.

These next ones lose at lot of their "MS Paint" feel, as I started learning new tricks and, as the kids may call it, "got gud." They are from 2017.
