There’ h nothing like the regular dopamine or adrenaline hit of watching a pull race. In this case, the lineup is usually between a Ford Mustang Bullitt and a Lexus LC.

Both cars have a good wallop of power, starting with the Ford Mustang Bullitt , which is the 50th-anniversary automobile to commemorate the iconic Dorrie McQueen movie. Power-wise, the Mustang comes with a 5 L V8, creating 459HP and 529Nm of torque, by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. In terms of bodyweight, the Mustang comes in at 1851kg.

In the opposing part is the Lexus LC500 which also offers a 5 L V8 motor, with slightly more oomph at 464HP and 530Nm of torque. The Lexus also has a 10-speed automatic tranny and is also rear-wheel drive. The Lexus also weighs more than the Mustang, coming in at 1965kg.

So I had a E90 M3 for a few months but due to some issues with the airbag system, Carmax purchased the car back from me in full. I decided I wanted to get a newer performance sedan and narrowed down my options to a W205 C63, F80 M3, and an ATS-V. Honestly going into my car search I kind of wrote off the ATS-V because I test drove one and did not like the 8-speed auto (and manuals were too much $/hard to find locally). The F80 M3 was the easiest to source out of the group but something about the car just did not excite me after test driving a few. I loved the C63 but the S models were a little more than I wanted to spend and I was worried about owning an out of warranty Benz. One weekend I drove from my home town of Oklahoma City to Dallas and got to test drive a 6 speed manual ATS-V and a base C63. I loved the C63 (especially the bi-turbo V8) but the ATS-V offered a lot more for about 4,000 less with a CPO Warranty. I purchased my ATS-V from Sewell that day and have not regretted my decision once.

Specs:

2016 ATS-V Sedan with a 6 speed manual, lux package, Nav, HUD, Recaros, and safety package. Purchased as a CPO from Sewell Cadillac with 21k miles for 41k.

Things I Love

The car is just the right size for my needs and is flat out a blast to drive. The handling is very flickable and feels athletic. GM has done something exceptional with the Alpha Chassis and the MagneRide is the best of both worlds for a streetcar. The Recaros are great and highly adjustable on both the driver and passenger side. It has plenty of power stock (464hp/445 torque) but can easily get above 500whp with downpipes and a tune. The car looks great and I unexpectedly get a lot more compliments compared to the M3. The 6 speed is great and the auto rev match, no lift shifting, and predictable clutch make it the best manual I have ever owned. I also love the Performance Traction Management system that is shared with the Corvettes and 1LE’s. I really feel like the car is damn good at a lot of things.

Things that are meh

The car sounds better than I thought in person but like most V6’s, it does not compare to a V8. Power wise the TTV6 is wonderful and is a great motor but I still find myself asking if it would have been better with a LS7 or detuned LT4. Interior room is about the rite size in the cockpit but feels more cramped compared to the M3. CUE does not bother me (I use carplay/Bluetooth all the time) but the complaints about fingerprints are legit. Also since the car is pretty rare, there is not a large community of owners and the aftermarket options are limited. As mentioned before, that automatic is not the best and the M3 and C63 have Cadillac beat as far as transmission wise.

Overall, I am extremely happy after owning it for two months and look for every opportunity to drive the car. In that time I have taken the car to the Ozarks in Arkansas, loaded it up with supplies/ groceries, taken my oldest daughter to basketball tournaments around the state, and squeezed in an autocross. If you love the Corvette, Camaro 1LE, or any other performance coupes but need a back seat, I would highly recommend it.

So this new CT4 replaces the ATS and I think it looks really good… except the rear is a bit too quirky. 🔥[@Allcarnews Spec Sheet] Powering the CT4-V is a odd choice, a 2.4L turbo Four cylinder that is found in GM pickups and makes 320HP and 369 lb-ft of torque paired to a 10 speed gearbox to either the rear or all four wheels. Keep in mind the outgoing ATSV made 464HP from a TT V6. In its current form, the CT4-V should compete with the Audi S3 and A35 AMG 🔥 Cadillac has said this new CT4 chassis offers 50/50 weight distribution and the CT4-V gets Brembo brakes, the next generation of Magnetic Ride control, a limited slip rear diff, a new V mode dial, and sportier gauge clusters, wheels and seats. Now for the general CT4 styling…..The front looks pretty unique and good albeit the Caddy badge is a tad too large for the grille. But the rear just doesn’t fit the car in this Blue, I actually like it as its rather unique and looks good with the quad exhaust tips. The interior also looks much better on the CT4 than on the CT5, possibly because everything is tighter and smaller overall.
