"Ooh, vintage manners too," you coo as you get into the car.  He shuts your door and walks around the car and climbs into the driver seat.  He starts the car and you are off towards Chula Vista where the fly in is being held.  

"You know, if you had told me you had a 61 Corvette when we first met, I might have been nicer to you," you say as he pulls on the freeway heading south from San Diego, hand trailing on the dash. 

"The lady knows her cars," Jake replies.

"Of course I do, I'm the daughter of an automotive engineer from Michigan.  In fact my dad worked for GM." 

"And yet you drive a Honda CR-V, the store brand vanilla ice cream of cars." He teases back.  

"Yeah, it's definitely utilitarian and I got a good deal on it from a friend who was moving overseas. Besides, I drive way too many miles for my  job to have anything like this."

The rest of the drive passes quickly and soon you're pulling into the lot at the general aviation airport hosting the event.  Jake and you walk up to the entrance and grab a map,

"So where do we want to go first? Ooh, they have a World War 2 section," you ask scanning the map.  Jake hooks his chin on your shoulder to peek at the map. He scans the map and says, 

"That sounds good, we'll have to make sure to see the fighters," Jake says pointing at the map from over your shoulder.

As you walk through the planes it's apparent whoever curated the show did a great job with lining the aircraft up in chronological order.  It’s easy to see the evolution of the planes.  Jake stops when we get to a F-14 Tomcat.  

“Maverick flew one of these when he was at Top Gun,” he says.  

Climbing up the step ladder you check out the cockpit.  All the same elements that are in the jets you work on are there, but they're so rudimentary compared to what we equip aircraft with now.

Considering that the Vermont National Guard probably has more military ships than Ukraine, the Ukrainian Navy now terrifies the Russian Black Sea fleet. There's little Russian presence in the western part of the sea these days.

The Ivanovets probably thought it was safe where it was anchored. It was in a body of water called Lake Donuzlav in occupied Crimea. Though it is more like a bay with a narrow opening to the Black Sea.

^^^ That opening is just 435 meters wide, a little over 4.5 US football fields. But Ukrainian sea drone pilots managed to navigate several of their kamikaze vessels into the bay without being detected up to that point.

The sinking of the Ivanovets is just one of several bits of good news for Ukraine in the past few days.

India commissions its first home-built aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today commissioned the first aircraft carrier built in India, highlighting his government's efforts to increase domestic production to provide aid to the military deployed on two contentious borders.

After 17 years of construction and testing, Modi commissioned the INS Vikrant - the navy's second operational aircraft carrier and the largest warship ever built in India - on a state shipyard in the south.

"Today, India has joined the countries of the world that can manufacture such a large aircraft carrier with native technology," Modi said. "It is a symbol of Indian potential, Indian resources and Indian skills."

Designed to accommodate a crew of about 1,600 people and a fleet of 30 aircraft, the Vikrant will feature MIG-29K aircraft designed in Russia that already operate from another aircraft carrier from India, INS Vikramaditya, which India bought from Russia.

Boeing and the French Dassault are seeking to supply India with more than two dozen jets for the Vikrant.

India is one of the largest importers of weapons in the world, spending $12.4 billion between 2018 and 2021, but has been seeking to develop its own manufacturing capabilities while Russia, the main supplier, is waging a war in Ukraine and facing sanctions.

Among the imports are about 8,000 defense items worth about US$ 1.03 trillion in 2022-23 that you want their companies to produce, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Currently, India has 1.38 million people in its armed forces, with a large number deployed on the borders with its nuclear-weapon rivals China and Pakistan.

"India is working with all its forces to become self-sufficient," Modi said, referring to the Texas lightweight combat aircraft and artillery, built at home.

The Vikrant will significantly increase India's maritime capabilities, allowing the navy to operate an aircraft carrier on each coast, alongside its 10 destroyers, 12 frigates and 20 corvettes.

China, which also has two operational aircraft carriers and is working on a third, has a much larger fleet of 335 ships, including about 48 destroyers, 43 frigates and 61 corvettes.

"Security concerns in the Indo-Pacific region and the Indian Ocean have been ignored for a long time," Modi said. "But today this area is a great defense priority for our country."

THINGS THAT STRESS ME OUT (non exhaustive list) -Dysphoria from my friends  (appearance and social gender envy from Ara Ara)  (emotional, appearance, and social gender envy from Brisket)  (emotional, appearance, and social gender envy from Paella) -General emotional uncertainty and inability to connect with my friends as deeply as I wish I could -Particularly painful classes as a result of disruptive students  History, Christian Studies, (English + Math sometimes) (I've gotten over the initial misery I had with english) -Not having classes with ANY friends beyond my electives not only considering they can have classes together which allows them to have more developed friendships, but also the classes I do have with someone I know (that isn't an elective) I have with Shakira who is far from my first option and who I'm only really 'friends' with because of proximity and the fact she isn't too bad (even if a bit irritating, rude, and fickle) (the only nice thing about having Shakira there is she creates a barrier between me, and To Slo/ biggus (despite the fact they only sit near because she's there)) I tend to avoid recognising this in particular because it evokes the part of my thought process that thinks the state of reality now is what it will always be like (hopelessness) -Dysphoria in those classes not only from the perceived disconnect between my behaviour and the girls but from a general assumed association with the boys (the disruptive students) -The fact that dysphoria makes alot of good things more bitter than sweet for me, which can be disheartening for my friends And also that I'm so consistently upset and emotionally devastated that they have given up on trying to comfort me despite that being what I need so much in those situations -That fucking bald spot -Dysphoria from being apart of the boys sporting class and smelling horrific with sweat (even if I wear more than enough deodorant any smell is far too much) -Even food tech (one of the good classes) take some serious emotional manoeuvring to enjoy since I have to  not stress out Ara Ara too much and adapt to what she wants to do. Being funny whilst not interruptive and not a too masculine way to avoid the emotional distress of potentially not being someone she enjoys being around (and avoid more dysphoria) ALL OF THAT brings more dysphoria when its cross compared with her relationships with Brisket and Paella and MORE dysphoria comes when I see the relationship she has with Mrs F, how she's able to talk to her and joke with her and everything -The general emotional uncertainty that I feel Ara Ara and I have, it feels like they are more and less unhappy with me every other week and I can't decipher which of the thousands of possible reasons that could be, or if its real at all and I'm just entirely incorrect about that. Exams are really an afterthought because they stress my brain out too much to think about the effect they'll have (same with my future (both the good and bad possibilities)) I think it might be a defence or coping mechanism but instead of reconciling and working with that stress I somehow have both an oblivious and aggressively optimistic outlook with a glass half full sort've way. "In less than a week and a half it'll be over" is generally what I try to remember. Not thinking about it much is bad for me because I can't seize every chance I could to study; thinking about THAT too hard will stress me out so I'm trying to just think about studying more instead of how I'm studying less that I should.

It's not something I can always feel buildup consciously, even if I'm feeling good in the morning I know when a day is going to be bad for me, so anxiety is the hypothesis. (I can also tell what days I'm going to be the most prone to dysphoria) that was most of the points I can remember at this time, though I know there's more stresses and arguments I could make but that summarises my current state fairly accurately.  that being said, I am at home today and my excuse is it's actually better to have the whole day to study (even if I just spent the first few hours rotting)
