Not a Dumb Broad
Don’t tell PasoBro, but I have stated numerous times Santa Margarita grows the best BDX varieties in the AVA. Here’s a fun example–one I found languishing on a Bev-Mo shelf for PENNIES. The interesting part is: I reviewed this exact wine on release in 2014. I thought it seemed familiar. I haven’t read that review–for fear of psychological sway–but will of course as soon as I finish my thoughts…

Some critic had some harsh words for the movie calling it subpar. It is a good movie. Very clever kind of western. Atypical in some ways. Ambiguous morality. It's a little like True Grit, but a curious character personality you don't see in westerns.
It's Nicolas Cage's first western. He should do another.
TRIVIA:
The armorer on the shoot was Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was blamed for a number of unsafe activities by the assistant director and Cage and was nearly thrown off the set. She was the armorer on Rust (which was shot after The Old Way in 2021) and is being investigated for the death of Halyna Hutchins and injury to Joel Souza on that set due to unsafe firearm handling.
After the second time in 3 days of Gutierrez-Reed testing a weapon near everyone else unexpectedly, Cage yelled -- "Make an announcement, you just blew my fucking eardrums out!" Then, he stormed off.

My Darkest Prayer by S.A. Cosby is a re-release of his first novel. "Nathan Waymaker is a former marine and former deputy. He works with his cousin at the funeral home and knows how to get rid of a body. After a local reverend is found dead, an elder of his church asked Nathan to look into the pastor's death because the sheriff does not seem interested in finding out what really happened. Nathan starts asking questions and soon finds that there are many who want the real reason kept quiet." This is gritty crime fiction from Cosby. There is lots of violence, murder and sex. Nathan Waymaker is a man with violence bubbling just below the surface. It doesn't take much of a threat to turn him loose. He feels like a precursor to Ike/Riot in Razorblade Tears. (There's even a Plymouth Fury reference) And there's a cast of big characters - like Skunk and Shade and Rev Short. Sometimes you can tell this is a first novel (never use a big word when a small one will do) but Cosby's gift is putting the reader in the story. You can see and smell and hear everything going on. The narrator, Adam Lazarre-White, is phenomenal. His big voice is perfect for this story and these characters. Fans of Cosby or edgy crime fiction will enjoy this book. #mydarkestprayer #sacosby #macmillanaudio #audiobooks #adamlazarrewhite #2023rerelease #bookstagram #bookshelves #booknerd #readinglife #bookphotography #bookcommunity #bookblogger #sodacityreads #suspensebook #bookhaul #literarycrimefiction #homelibrary #thrillerbooks #domesticthriller #crimefiction #thriller #characterdrivenbooks #mysterythriller #bookrecs #grittycrimefiction https://www.instagram.com/p/ClbO4F6L6zV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

How Many Have You Had?
In no particular order: 2011 LAZARRE WINES Pinot Noir Central Coast California 14.5 Discovered this orphan in a bad, un-air-conditioned liquor store in a part of town not frequented by serious wine-shoppers. “$27.99” proclaimed the tattered pricetag, and WHO could resist a 10YO offering with bad provenance from one of the most talented and prolific winemakers on the central coast??? Jacob Taylor. Before I discuss Jacob's workspace, I want to say a few words about Jacob. Jacob as character doesn't seem that popular, nor is he strongly disliked. A once saw him described as Mr Bland. Personally I would go Good Solider number 4, with additional daddy issues. I don't think Jacob was always like, but suffered the most from design by committee. In a large project like Mass Effect 2, nearly everything would have some group design elements. Most of the characters came out that process reasonably well, Jacob less. We can see some evidence of a more complex character. Jacob has biotics, but unlike most other biotic humans, it isn't a think. He is a soldier with some biotic skills, and by the third game the biotics appear to have been forgotten, as he never uses them. Other evidence is in the suggestion that
"Jacob was previsualized as a male/male romance, with his scene matching shot-for-shot with certain sequences from Brokeback Mountain"
Both of the above hint at a character where much of the depth was left on the committee table.
I would like to thank Adam Lazarre-White for his great performance.
Now onto the bit you are all here you, me talking about desks.
Jacobs, workbenches and desks are all functional, efficient with little if any unnecessary features. The displays show weapons you don't have, suggesting that Jacob is actively researching and developing and not just keeping the weapons clear. Of course you have a look a little closer to see that, but that is also true for Jacob.
Jacob presents himself as a simple solider, but any closer examination will reveal more depth than that. Jacob isn't simple and doesn't see the world as simple either, but he mostly keeps that to himself.
To be honest I thought that was mostly it, until I saw the table. That table doesn't fit the Normandy. It looks like a cheap office piece rather than the carefully integrated furniture is found throughout the rest of the Normandy. Another way of asking this question, is why did Jacob feel the need to give up valuable space (and all space is valuable on a ship) for a cheap table. I think the reason is because, Jacob understands how to lead better than Miranda. Miranda is an expert at manipulation, that skill doesn't scale. Jacob knows the crew aren't all marines with the discipline that entails but wide range of civilians, Cerberus trained crew and ex-Alliance members with Cerberus issues. That table is extra space, for the crew to be social in, and relax. The space is needed so cope with the additional tensions that the very diverse crew the Normandy SSV2 has.
Also I think it is the table that the crew play cards at.
