Alternative Universe where, instead of Ezra using the Space Whales to solve the problem with Thrawn he just summons an army of Lothcats who attack Thrawn and bury him underneath them.
Sabine: Ezra why does your grand plan to stop Thrawn involve opening the doors to every cat shelter on Lothal?
Ezra, about to reach peak crazy cat man: don't worry about it

GOD I cant take Thrawn seriously like here's a guy who's a Sherlock Holmes genius level villain and also will do anything (ANYTHING) to achieve his goals even if it eventually pushes him into moral horror but also as part of his cover to get into the Imperial Navy HE WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL AND GOT BULLIED
HES LIKE 44 IN THIS HES A WHOLE GROWN ASS MAN GETTING BULLIED BY HIGH SCHOOLERS???? I can't handle this anytmore

Reading Outbound Flight right after Lesser Evil is such a uniquely painful experience, because up to the last moments Thrass is safe. He is fine. There is no way for him to be in danger. And then he is. Just simple miscommunication, and he is gone. He is gone and in that same moment his brother is certain all has worked out fine, so blissfully unaware that he has died for a people that was no his, only distantly for the safety of the Ascendancy and more so for that of misguided group of republic citizens that should have never made it out alive...
Guy with two minutes of screentime manages to take over my heart completely with his doomed-by-the-narrative swag

This is just the late night talking, but I miss legends!Chiss fandom. Everyone who hasn’t read stuff like the Thrawn duology or Survivor’s Quest is seriously missing out (and if you haven’t read Outbound Flight, are you REALLY engaging in the full Thrawn Experience?). Not to mention the fact that legends has some of the best Thrawn content out there.

Still genuinely perplexed that some people thought that Thrawn and Ezra would be friends or full on allies.
I can see them forming a temporary alliance for survival, but no way in hell would Ezra work with Thrawn past that, let alone come to like him.

Now when he wakes it’s to an empty bed, sweat-soaked fabric plastered to ice-cold skin, throat scratchy and raw as if something clawed itself from his chest.

Thrawn reflects on his time spent without Eli at his side.

ship: Thrawn | Mitth'raw'nuruodo/Eli Vanto
words: 26 818, completed
tags: canon-typical violence, hurt/comfort, angst, which I promise will have a happy ending, but this is the ESB of this trilogy, so for now we're going though it, and so is thrawn, absolutely losing his mind unfortunately, karyn faro deserves a raise, ar'alani tries and fails at being a wingwoman, emotional constipation blue man and space cowboy edition, trigger warning for depiction of intrusive thoughts, and sheev palpatine's general existence, epistolary elements, thrawn pov, more or less canon compliant
series: pt 2/3 of postmortem - excerpts from former grand admiral mitth'raw'nuruodo's private journal of catalogued memories

I'm thinking about Hera's "were you ever in the war / just waited to see who came out on top" a lot
it's just curious, to me, that she doesn't ask "were you a rebel", she asks "were you in the war"
and I guess yes Hera could just be making the inherent implication that by "in the war" she means "fighting on my side" but we don't know that
and it kind of speaks to a certain way of thinking about politics on the writers' part and also makes me deeply uneasy???

And then I almost threw the book across the room because I reached the part where every single minute detail from the previous two books came together to form a single interwoven plot that has been running in, like, 3-4 separate stories this whole time and I'm. I'm so fucking angryhappy at how good these books are
