Samatoki Aohitsugi is so Underrated

Tw // canon-typical mentions of abuse & suicide based on Samatoki’s backstory.

Tonight before the bed I’m thinking about Samatoki Aohitsugi. I want more flashbacks on Samatoki’s backstory. “Mom killed dad and suicided” he says in a breath in his songs as if that’s easy. “Abusive alcoholic father figure” he says.

No, no, please get deeper.

I want to know more of you. Your family. Your household. How was your family house like? Do you still live in the same place the incident happened? Did you change apartments after Nemu left? Do you cook for yourself even when your sister is not around (in the present timeline, after you sort of processed the initial shock)? Do you shower in the morning or before the bed (or both)? What’s your favorite brand of drinks and cigarettes? How did you cope with such a huge trauma? How could you process loss of your mother, your father and then somehow your sister and then Sasara and then Ichiro— I don’t even mean SasaSama or SamaIchi in a specific ship way for this context. It can be romantic or platonic but what matters is that they were once Samatoki’s best friends and partners and he trusted them with his heart and invited them to his house and cooked for them and he even was starting to gradually prepare himself for Ichiro and Nemu potentially getting together. He trusted Ichiro that much and then, although neither Sasara, Nemu or Ichiro “betrayed” him, Samatoki was betrayed in his own perspective and there was no way of him finding out that they were hypnotsized.

In the end, Samatoki lost his mother, his father (we know that he despises his father and his father was abusive but in the end it was a person he lived with and it must have some sort of impact on him too), his sister, and two of his best friends. It sounds like a nightmare. Samatoki is a family-person and so am I. My family and best friends and partner are my priorities in life (along with myself and my career, but that’s irrelevant). Samatoki lost all of them in such a short time interval.

Honestly…

How on the earth is Samatoki still functioning?

How could he ever trust Jyuto and Rio? How could he ever eat food offered by a random dude living in woods and even after he knew what the food was made of, he always accepted the offer because he doesn’t want to make Rio sad?? That he is just nice and considerate about a grown ass man’s feelings like that??? He still has the feelings of responsibility and respect to face Jyuto and apologize for losing DRB???

Not only that but he still more or less tries his best to process the fact that Ramuda was somewhat responsible for half of his losses and he still tries to forgive Ramuda?? He tries, at least puts effort, to “forget about it because I’d do same to protect my sister” thing with Ichiro???? And he acknowledges that even after the hypnosis effect is gone, Nemu wants to stay in Chuuoku even at the cost of her fighting against Samatoki for that and HE FUCKING ACCEPTS HER DECISION AND RESPECTS HER AND CHERISHES HER???????

This guy lost his mother, his father, his sister HIS BEST FRIENDS T W I C E, his life got played over by his abusive father AND THEN FUCKING GOVERNMENT ITSELF, and he became a yakuza to deal with all that BUT HE STILL PROTECTS THE BULLIED IN YOKOHAMA, LOVES THE DUMPLINGS OF A WHOLESOME GRANDMOTHER, EATS RIO’S QUESTIONABLE FOOD JUST TO MAKE HIM HAPPY AND OVERALL DOES HIS BEST TO DEAL WITH HIS ANGER ISSUES AND TRIES TO FORGIVE PEOPLE FOR WHAT THEY DID??? EVEN THOUGH HE HAS SO MUCH TRAUMA??? SO MUCH ANGER ISSUES???? HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE VERY BITTER BUT HE DOES HIS BEST NOT TO BECOME SOMEONE LIKE THAT???? AND WHEN HE SLIPS UP HE APOLOGIZES???

HypMic x Detective Conan AU [Yokohama Pier Confrontation, the unwanted arrival and rescue]

As Ichiro is about to arrest the local dirty cop---ahem, the yakuza who has been hunting down Nemu Aohitsugi, Jyuto Iruma, the aforementioned person showed up without warning.

Deliberately added pictures to guide you imagine the scene :) oh, the ‘Yokohama Pier' here is the Osanbashi Pier (the (maybe) same pier shown in the first episode of the anime).

The roar of the plane seems to color this tense atmosphere. The real Nemu is standing in front of Ichiro and Jyuto.

Ichiro's hand still hold his stun pen towards Jyuto, then turns to Nemu worriedly. "Nemu?! What are you doing here?! Get out of here and---!"

While Ichiro's attention was focused on Nemu, the emerald-eyed man suddenly took Ichiro's stun pen. He pointed it at Ichiro and drugged him! Hit by his own stun needle, Ichiro instantly loses consciousness, his body turn weak and helpless.

Nemu’s eyes widen in fear, "I-Ichiro...!"

Jyuto chuckled softly, then changed Ichiro's position, who had been lying weakly on the asphalt of Yokohama Pier, to sit leaning against the car door.

The corrupt cop grinned. "Good night, Yamada-san, and..." he looks at Nemu, then points the gun, "...welcome, Aohitsugi-san!"

Nemu stood up bravely, as if willing to meet her end. Her spare tracking glasses still adorned her red eyes. Her white hair fluttered in the night breeze.

'Those eyes... huh, she really is Samatoki's little sister from head to toe,’ Jyuto thought inwardly. He grinned. "Ah... Aohitsugi-san, you came here on purpose to thwart this young man's plans... and to die."

Nemu took off her spare glasses, then puts them in her skirt pocket.

(Her expression, but imagine it without the Chuuoku uniform, ‘kay?)

"Iruma-san, with all due respect, I came here not only to meet my end, but also to end all of this. Even if you are caught by the authorities, your hunt will never stop as long as I am alive. In exchange, will you promise that you won't kill anyone other than me?"

Jyuto was silent for a moment hearing the words that came out of Aohitsugi Samatoki's little sister. He looked at the wounded Hifumi, then turns again to Nemu, and smiled slyly.

"Alright... besides Izanami-san, I'll let the others live... but you'll still die, Aohitsugi-san. If you hate it, blame your parents for inheriting that stupid research to you."

Suddenly, the rear hood of Hifumi's car opens. Jyuto immediately turns to the source of the sound. To his surprise, he saw the salaryman, Kannonzaka Doppo, jumping out of there.

He bravely dodged all the bullet rain given by Jyuto's partner who was on standby as a sniper. Without hesitation, he immediately hugged Nemu's small body to protect her.

Jyuto looks at the sniper and yelled, "Wait, Shimazaki! Don't shoot!"

However, the shooter ignored his plea. Jyuto was forced to fire a bullet at Shimazaki's left to stop him. Doppo and Nemu landed on the asphalt. It was at this point that Kannonzaka Doppo was no longer a pessimistic salaryman, but a brave police spy.

The corrupt cop spoke in a cold tone, "Kannonzaka-san, could you please let go of that girl? Otherwise, I'll be forced to execute you."

Looking at Nemu, Doppo’s cyan eyes went shocked and panicked. "A-Aohitsugi-san, are you alright?!” he asked worriedly. “Just hold a little longer, I’ve called the police and they'll be here in a minute!"

Doppo's hug reminds Nemu of his older brother, who always protects her from the other yakuza when they try to harm her.

This was fun to write ayeee. Although Hifumi turned into a distressed dude-in-distress in here, he remains our lovely host and PSB agent uwu

I'm gonna cry.

I think it's so beautiful to notice the parallelism between the two of them. I've always given for sure Nemu's speaker would have been similar to Samatoki's, even if I didn't expect it to resemble SO MUCH his brother's, tbh (as well as her mic, tho. And the pink. I was certain it would have been pink. Because it's Nemu, c'mon)... but this is another level of bond.

They're the two faces of the same coin: Samatoki shows the rough part of death, while Nemu celebrates it.

All of this depicts the fact that they're siblings, it doesn't matter what happened between them, their souls are still connected and this is the placid demonstration of this. The meaning's so deep.

I want them to rap together, it would be a pleasure for the eyes 🥺❤️

Hypmic family slash divisions meeting must be so fucking funny can you imagine.

You're Otome Tohoten and you just got there with your wonderful wife Ichijiku and your child creature Nemu that some pink freak got you.

The childs brother is there btw and while you expected him to be glaring daggers at you he's too busy killing self proclaimed rival Ichiro with his eyes because in Samatokis mind Nemu just joined Chuuohku because of him, all due to the same pink freak who ended up ruining the old partnership they had.

Guess what more! As if this wasn't enough for Samatoki his fucking ex Sasara Nurude is there with his newest husband Rosho Tsutsujimori. Guess who made their relationship crumble too. Exactly, the same pink freak.

But he's not the only one having to deal with seeing an ex here. Oh no. Kuko, Ichiros ex, is also there and the tension between the two is almost visible in the air. I wonder who made the two break up, too. However, all this young romantic drama is too tiring for you, so you look away.

Kuko came with Jyushi and you're not sure what their relationship is, but perhaps that's what is sort of making Ichiro on edge. More importantly, Jyushis dad, Hitoya also came and you are quite sure there is something off about the looks him and Jakurai are exchanging. Surely they're not exes, too.

Most importantly, talking about Jakurai, didn't the same pink freak betray him while they were on a unit together and killed his child?

Oh yeah by the way the pink freak, Ramuda, is there.

With his two boyfriends.

One of which is your son by the way.
