ultimately nobody is allowed to escape Riverdale, and every act to escape the town will result in retaliation from the town itself. It doesn't exist without its characters and it needs them to play out their stories, over and over and over again. Once the characters have been utterly broken by the town's inescapable nature all that can be done is wipe them clean and start a new series of echoes. They are doomed to an eternity of teenage angst that began with and is defined by the first time each character hit the page of the comics. The only way to escape is a self-awareness of narrative and a willingness to sacrifice a part of the self to the town so that it can be sustained in absence. But existing outside of the narrative also means a kind of death for a self-aware character, so even when they began to escape the town Jughead refuses to let the story end until the town can take control and wipe them clean again. So no, they can't leave the 50s, not really, because they were always there in the first place.

Navigating into tumblr deepths guess who discovered a Riverdale and Predator crossover. This can't be serious- is so funny to think "Hey you know the super cliché musical series that people said was sooooo deepth, serious, and you hadn't seen due those stereotypes because you know, Netflix? Weel it's a comic series and has a crossover with the deadly lizards" LIKE¿¿??
Yeah still very deadly... (Everybody forgot how to look up even if they are being bathed in blood)
And then they are sharing a strawberry flavored smoothie stuff whatever, i'm just- perplexed.
OH THIS CAN'T BE SERIOUS HAHBHSD

I’ve never seen Riverdale...
But from what I’ve heard, it’s pretty wild. So I don’t know if this would interest any fans of the show or not, but in the comics, there’s an alternate universe where Betty and Veronica end up living as a cute queer couple in New York City and it’s adorable.
Also, their boyfriend is the Predator? I dunno. Comics!
