From a Distance, I Could Only See a Beauty Created (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While taking in views along the shores of Vermillion Lakes in Banff National Park with a view looking to the southeast. The ridges and peaks, along with the reflections, are Mount Rundle and Sanson Peak. With this setting and image, I took advantage of some nearby bushes and trees to help create a layered look. It was a foreground interest to add for that look beyond.

The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, also known as the Djeser-Djeseru (Ancient Egyptian: ḏsr ḏsrw "Holy of Holies"), is a mortuary temple of Ancient Egypt located in Upper Egypt. 🕌📸🍀 The main and axis of the temple is set to an azimuth of about 116½° and is aligned to the winter solstice sunrise, which in our modern era occurs around 21 or 22 December each year. The sunlight penetrates through to the rear wall of the chapel, before moving to the right to highlight one of the Osiris statues that stand on either side of the doorway to the second chamber. A further subtlety to this main alignment is created by a light-box, which shows a block of sunlight that slowly moves from the central axis of the temple to first illuminate the god Amun-Ra to then shining on the kneeling figure of Thutmose III before finally illuminating the Nile god Hapi. Additionally, because of the heightened angle of the sun, around 41 days on either side of the solstice, sunlight is able to penetrate via a secondary light-box through to the innermost chamber. This inner-most chapel was renewed and expanded in the Ptolemaic era and has cult references to Imhotep, the builder of the Pyramid of Djoser, and Amenhotep, son of Hapu, the overseer of the works of Amenhotep III. The solsticial alignment could be related to the fusion of the Egyptian constellation of the ram with the sun, originating Amun-Ra, heavenly father of Hatshepsut. Nine months later, at the autumn equinox, the Beautiful Feast of Opet would mark the pharaonic birth. As for the alignment of the 1st of February, it would be a marker of the date on which Amun-Ra pronounced the oracle that enthroned Hatshepsut as a female pharaoh. #Travel #TravelPics #Photography #TravelPhoto #Podroze #Wycieczka #Zdjecia #egypt #luxor #visitegypt #visitegypt🇪🇬 #visitluxor #visitthebes #spring #Sun #Fun #Follow #FollowMe #FollowThem #Walk #Walking #themortuarytempleofqueenhatshepsut #themortuarytempleofhatshepsut (w: Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut) https://www.instagram.com/p/COkX2OrN3jf/?igshid=sdrt7o65rm17

Mars Crater Question
Data set: The study Martian craters has a global database that includes over 300,000 craters of 1 km or more that were created there are between 4.2 and 3.8 billion years ago during a period of intense bombardment (ie asteroids, proto-planets and comets). The majority of impacts are from asteroids from the asteroid belt which is between jupiter and mars. This database has been made available by the Wesleyan University as part of the Coursera course Data Management and Visualization.
I read the code books and selected the Mars Crater code book.
Code Book For this study, the data set comprising only 9 variables, Variables: CRATER_ID: crater ID for internal use, based on the region of the planet (116) The « pass » in which cratèrea been identified, announces the order in which it was identified LATITUDE_CIRCLE_IMAGE: latitude crater center (decimal degrees North unit) LONGITUDE_CIRCLE_IMAGE: Crater central longitude (decimal degrees unit is) DIAM_CIRCLE_IMAGE: crater diameter (units km) DEPTH_RIMFLOOR_TOPOG: average altitude of the crater rim (units are km) MORPHOLOGY_EJECTA_1: morphology of ejecta. If multiple values separated by a « / », then the order is the inner ejecta through the outermost, or the top most through the most background MORPHOLOGY_EJECTA_2: the morphology of the layer (s). This classification system is unique to this work. MORPHOLOGY_EJECTA_3: texture and / or the general shape of a portion of the layer (s) / ejecta that are typically unique and deserves a separate morphological classification. NUMBER_LAYERS: the maximum number of cohesive layers in all azimuthal directions that could be reliably identified. Question 1
Does the larger craters tend to have multiple layers of ejecta which would be a indicator of greater depth of evacuation. Note: multiple layers is more than two layers:
Hypothesis: Is that that the larger craters(Diameter) will tend to have multiple layers of ejecta (MLE).
Variables to be used: DIAM_CIRCLE_IMAGE, NUMBER_LAYERS:
Question 2
Is there regional variations in the distribution of single layer ejecta (SLE), Double Layer Ejecta (DLE) and Multiple Layer Ejecta (MLE) Note: multiple layers is more than two layers.
Hypothesis: Is that there is regional variations in the distribution of the various ejecta.
Variables to be used: LATITUDE_CIRCLE_IMAGE, LONGITUDE_CIRCLE_IMAGE, NUMBER_LAYERS:
Summary of Reference:
Suggests that larger craters will tend to have multiple layers of ejecta, and that there is regional variations in the distribution of the number of layers.

A Revisit with Athabasca Falls and Mount Kerkeslin (Jasper National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the southeast while taking in views along a walkway at Athabasca Falls. This is in Jasper National Park along the Icefields Parkway. With this image, I was focusing on the waterfall, keeping that starting point in the image center. I then lined up to have the Mount Kerkeslin as a backdrop to complement the waters flowing by.

Those Distant Mountains Beckon Me (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the southeast while taking view along Vermilion Lakes Drive in Banff National Park. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of a clearing in some nearby trees to create a look beyond to Mount Rundle off in the distance. I like the layering present with the nearby foreground interest, leading to the reflection on the lake waters, and then finally the ridges and peaks of Mount Rundle.

My Playground for Adventure is Outside (Capitol Reef National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the Hickman Bridge Trail with a view looking to the southeast as the Fremont River flows by in Capitol Reef National Park. My thinking in composing this image was to take advantage of the river as a leading line flowing into the image with the cliff walls helping also to frame the viewer into the image. I also liked the color contrast present with greens of the trees and grasses in the lower portion of the image against that of reds and oranges of the sandstone walls surrounding this canyon-like view. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 5 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

Everything is Looking Up
flickr
Everything is Looking Up by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view looking up while walking around a downtown neighborhood where I live in Austin. My thinking in composing this image was to capture the view with the tall buildings all around me and blue skies up above. There just so happened to be a bird flying by which added, in my opinion, to the setting of this image capture. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 4 that I’d recently purchased after moving away from Capture NX2. I then exported a TIFF image to Nik Color Efex Pro 4 where I added a Polarization and Pro Contrast filter for that last effect on the image captured.

Plane Flying Above by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: Plane Flying Above I Wonder If They'd Look Down Upon Me As I looked up at them We're 30,000' or so apart, but are we really separated? We may be alike in spirit, if only apart in location We both want to travel, even though I'm fixed to the Earth So fly on ahead and find a place of new discovery I'll catch up soon and we can explore together. Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon in capturing images with a new Nikon D850 I’d just recently bought at the time. So one afternoon, I just walked out on the apartment garage area where I live and looked around. There happened to be the contrails from a jet airplane flying over. I lined up as best i could perpendicular to a nearby skyscraper building and used the concrete side in the garage area as a frame for the lower portion. The rest of the image was the open skies of blue that I was gazing up upon.
