Rethinking X's timeline
I always thought that the Ava/Luxu and Gula/Player/Skuld scenes were happening at the same time, and that there was a flaw/error in the timeline about the War itself since we get both "a few days ago" AND "a few months later" timestamps. BUT now I think it actually goes like this:
Ava vs Luxu (flashback)
[ a few days later ]
Gula talking to Player and Skuld (the present)
[ a few months later ] EDIT: [ a few days later ]*
The Keyblade War (flashforward)
* finalworlds pointed out that “a few months later” may refer to around Unchained 0 [zero]’s time, where Player is reminiscing about the war rather than experiencing it real time. In that case, any other mention where the War took place a few days after Gula talks to Player and Skuld is no longer contradictory.
NOW, this possibly correct timeline expands on other things:
1. Ava tip-toeing around for days
Skuld, Player, and Chirithy discuss how Ava's been missing, so they go see Gula. Based on this new timeline, Gula thinks that Ava is still looking for Luxu. But in actually it's been days since Ava fought with Luxu, so she's still missing doing other things instead. Two of these things are talking to Strelitzia, and (I believe) a second meeting with Brain that we still haven't seen.
2. Strelitzia
I was always confused why Ava (who, at the time of writing this, seems to be truly herself, not Darkness in disguise) would ask Strelitzia to be a Union Leader on the bridge instead of on the hill like everyone else. Especially if this was supposedly "before her fight with Luxu"--which, like I said, I now believe is incorrect. Here is what I believe to be the proper timeline:
Ava vs Luxu
[ a couple days later ]
Ava promotes Strelitzia to be a Union Leader
[ the next day ]
Gula talking to Player and Skuld
Darkness kills Strelitzia
[ a few months later ] EDIT: [ a few days later ]*
The Keyblade War
Since Strelitzia was killed on the day Gula spoke to Player and Skuld, she was killed days after Ava and Luxu fought, not the same day like I thought for literal years. This also may explain why Ava went to Strelitzia on the bridge instead of the hill. 1, she's short on time and can't wait for Strelitzia to come to her as a summon. And/or 2, Ava was paranoid Luxu would be at the hill again, and decided to talk to Strelitzia elsewhere. If there's a 3rd reason, we probably won't know unless we see the aftermath of Luxu and Ava's fight, or Ava herself explains what she was thinking.
3. Brain
I didn't understand why Ava told Brain it's important he doesn't know who the other Union Leaders are, and yet much later Brain implies two separate times that he not only knows who Ephemer is, but also that he's the leader of the Dandelions AND how he's been eager to read the Book of Prophecies. I was suspicious that Ava had a second meeting with Brain where she told him about Data Daybreak Town's existence (but not that they would be permanently in it, mind you, otherwise Brain would already know this), Ephemer, and many other things. But, had my doubts because "there wouldn't be enough time". But if this timeline is truly correct, that gives Ava more than enough time to walk Brain through certain things.
If Ava had a second meeting with Brain, it also explains why he even though he's conflicted, he gives her the benefit of the doubt twice: when they're discussing being stuck in data Daybreak Town and later discussing Strelitzia's absence.
4. Darkness
I absolutely think Ava is aware of Darkness. Since she read the Book of Prophecies, she would know about Ventus and Darkness as well. While I don't think Ava said any specifics, I think Ava gave Brain a heads up about Darkness in general. I always thought it strange that Brain lucky-guessed that Darkness was a being that could possessed Ven, but now I think it's really possible he's remembering something Ava told him. I think that's why Brain wasn't that surprised when it revealed itself, but rather Brain sarcastically remarked that he didn't expect Darkness look like such a cliche.

Observations - Ava & 'Darkness'
AVA DID NOT KILL STRELITZIA. 'Darkness' killed Strelitzia. Let's get that straight because people are jumping to conclusions (again) even though this was debunked a few months ago. ‘Darkness’ is a shapeshifter. It can take on the appearance of others and also hide inside of people’s hearts. The Master of Masters explained this during his talk with Luxu. Brain later reiterated this to Ephemer and Skuld during Ventus’s intervention. It was brought up again during Episode 2 of Dark Road during Xehanort and the others’ conversation about darkness. So, no, Ava didn’t kill Strelitzia and she isn’t ‘Darkness’.
I think people are stuck on ‘Darkness’ turning into Ava at the end of that scene and are taking that at face value. And while it’s true that ‘Darkness’ did transform into Ava when stepping into the light, that doesn’t mean that Ava did it. It’s up for debate where Ava was during this point in time, but I’d say she wasn’t around for this and likely searching for Luxu.
Now, how does this reflect on Ava? Well, it does make her look bad even if that wasn’t her. Based on ‘Darkness’ actions and whether or not the Book of Prophecies can clearly differentiate between Ava and ‘Darkness’, this would technically make her the traitor without her actually being the traitor. And assuming that Luxu knows this (which he most likely does) then that’d explain Ava’s reaction when he tells her who the traitor is.
I have an entire separate post for that so I won’t get into it. What this means for Ava is that she’s being set up to be the bad guy without actually being the bad guy. And just like Ventus, Ava is getting fucked over by ‘Darkness’.

Theorizing Two Characters Are Related Based On Their Lack Of Screen Time Together
AKA: An actual whole write-up on the “Braig/Luxu is Ventus’ dad” theory because I refuse to shut up about this.
So since we don’t have a solid point for when Braig got superseded by Luxu I’ll be folding all of both their scenes with Ventus together for the time being. This is very easy, because there’s maybe two of them. (I’ll also use Braig/Xigbar/Luxu pretty much interchangeably based on where in the story any given point I’m making is at)
1) That scene in BBS where they’re at the keyblade graveyard at the same time. They exchange very few words, but Braig calls Ven “Kiddo” which is something I’ll get back to
2) I mean the potentially fake Master Ava in KHUX might have been Luxu........
That’s it. That’s the screentime. Not a lot. But! We know Xigbar’s heart is connected to Ventus’ somehow! We know this, because he sees Xion with his face, and people see Xion as someone whose heart they’re connected to. Now, I suppose we could assume it happened in that first scene there, but come on. I’ve exchanged a few words with people who were pissy with me before. I probably would not recognize them 10 years after the fact, let alone consider our hearts connected. We could also assume it’s limited to know Xion’s heart is also connected to but that’s never really discussed and we could argue that she’s not even connected to Ven at this point anyways (thats a totally separate discussion than this, though).
But Xigbar not only sees Xion as Ventus, he recognizes him after (for all appearances) one encounter 10 years prior (and maybe another one 1000 years before that). It’s a bit of a stretch tbh, and I’m not just saying that because I’m half face-blind. Why Ventus? Why not anyone else? Why not Brain, Skuld, or Ephemer? Hell, at this point, why not Roxas? He’s certainly had more canon interactions with Roxas than Ventus by the part of Days where we find this out.
Meanwhile, Xemnas, who is made out of Ven’s key-brother and a guy who was raising him (albeit poorly) for a hot minute and spends half his time not staring up at Kingdom Hearts trying to get people to find Ven for him, sees Xion as Sora. Weird, right?
There’s also something else about Xigbar’s interactions with Xion (and Roxas) that’s very interesting in terms of this theory, however. Xigbar refers to those two with various nicknames (“Kiddo” I think gets thrown around for both of them, “Poppet” for Xion, and “Tiger” for Roxas) and he does it quite liberally, and relatively quickly. He also calls Ventus “Kiddo” in the one line of dialogue he says directly to him.
Contrast this with how he talks to Sora. He still treats and talks to Sora like a kid, but he doesn’t use any nicknames for him until Dream Drop Distance, when they’ve known each other for like a year or so? Even then, he starts out with “sleepyhead” rather than anything else. He doesn’t even call Sora by any sort of nickname when he and the rest of the Organization are trying to stir Roxas’ consciousness. And then, even in DDD, after a “sleepyhead” and a “kiddo” for good measure, he just... stops? He calls Repliku “Kid” at one point during the boss gauntlet, but other than that it’s Nickname Machine Broke.
Also, throughout the games, he makes remarks about Ventus glaring at him. He first does it in KH2 when talking to Sora, saying “he” always used to give him the exact same look. But I’ve played most of Days myself and watched all the cutscenes multiple times, and Roxas doesn’t glare at him. Ventus and Xion do. Interesting. And he keeps remarking on it, all the way through to DDD. It seems to be the one thing Sora does that reminds him of Ventus (“Sweet dreams, Kiddo” in DDD is after this remark)
So, to recap: Ven and Braig barely have one confirmed interaction, but Ven seems to be the protagonist that Xigbar is most fixated on, besides maybe Sora. Maybe. I honestly wouldn’t bet on it.
Also I can’t figure out where else to fit this in earlier but Luxu is derived from the Latin word for “Lust” so symbolically speaking Xigbar canonically fucks
In conclusion, Braig/Luxu is Ventus’ dad. Whether it’s something they plan on addressing at any point or it’s in the same vein as Xion being so trans coded she also trans codes at least three other characters by association is up in the air at this point

*deep sigh* So...uh...about the November story update...*deep breath*. Damnitallholyshitwhatthefuckisallofthisinformation. I’ll provide my insight into this topic, along with the traitor talk once more (featuring ‘Darkness’ and their bullshit). I’ve been putting this off for so long, so...RIP I suppose.
Warning: Heavy KHUX spoilers will be discussed, featuring my thoughts and speculation. You have been warned. (Also there’s a lot of stretches and lousy evidence, but I wanted to bring this into light...)
Here’s my general opinion right now:
*yells loudly* I don’t think Lauriam’s on our suspect list!!!
Before y’all get a pitchfork and stab me to death until I bleed out or something (I dunno either), hear me out.
I’ll lend you what I got gathered here. It’s a mess, but it’s something, better than nothing.
()()()
For the KHUX story update that occurred during October, a mysterious figure approached the scenes, going by the name ‘Darkness’ (which is stupid. Who thought that name would be a great addition to the game???).
Although I have no experience with the Japanese language, a few Twitter accounts who I was able to stumble across by, were able to provide valuable information. I won’t be providing names, just in case the info’s false.
Anyways, ’Darkness’ has a specific speech pattern that is apparent, exclusively to the JP version. The figure uses the pronoun of ‘ore’, which Marluxia/Lauriam don’t seem to use, where instead they use ‘boku’? Though I think the other guys use ‘ore’. (So in all honesty, I had Lauriam crossed off my list for a while now, but today let it rest to bed.)
Even though I probably look like a Blaine stan (...I never thought I’d say that out loud...I’m never going to say that again...), I’m going to point the finger of blame, as the traitor and murderer of Strelitzia, at...*looks at smudged hand*...Brain. (Wow, what sort of timeline is this where I use his ‘official name’...oh well one step a time to sever bonds I suppose to spare myself the pain) It’s odd, I know, but hear me out.
()()()
*lifts up glasses* So, this is where I get into the nitty gritty, what-the-fuck are you on Echo, speculation things. This is more of a personal-level thing and I know Nomura’s going to do something to catch us off guard with the element of surprise. That’s why we’re going to think like him for a minute.
In all honesty, it could be Ven as the traitor right? I know a lot of people jumped onto this, as soon as Lauriam brought up the whole ‘sister’ thing (with the translations being all iffy. Maybe in a year we’ll find out, who knows). I can definitely see this happening, but I find it quite odd...
I’m aware of the fact that Ven didn’t seem to know what ‘Shift Pride’ was (and his reaction to it was kinda...unnerving). I’ve also already brought this up in the past, but:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The Union Leaders all come in order, except for Brain and Ven.)
I don’t understand why they’d have everyone else in order, but huh. Something's off.
However, Ven does bring up meeting Master Ava (and I really hope it isn't him) and he was against 'Shift Pride', so I trust him.
()()()
Next up on our list, we have Lauriam. Since the story update for November introduced Elrena/Erlena (oh gosh it’s the Blaine/Brain situation all over again. I dunno what the official team’s gonna go for, but I have a bad habit of sticking with the ‘l’ names, so fuck y’all), we have...quite a batch here. Since the script was being vague and everything, we don’t know exactly who Strelitzia’s older sibling is.
I mean...if it was his own sibling, then Lauriam has to go to the time-out corner for murdering your own family member (if he did do it). If it was Elrena’s relation to Strelitzia, then that’s a different story.
Based off the subtle interactions we got, Lauriam seems to have some sort of relationship to Strelitzia, going to the extent of interacting with another fellow Keyblade wielder for the sake of it. I know it’s probably a far too gap to reach for, but I want to believe that these two are partners working behind the scenes to crack down who the traitor/murderer is.
()()()
This is where I bring up the official art (y’know, like an idiot who analyzes everything).
Tumblr media
Interestingly, Ephemera (if you flip the image, he’s leaning to their direction and his eyes are focused over to their direction so shhh it counts), Skuld, Ven, and Lauriam are all looking the same way to the left! Meanwhile, Brain and the hooded figure (which I assume is Elrena) are facing the opposite direction. (I dunno how Chirithy fits in this honestly...so uh...)
This is the stretch of the century (and I’m 99.99% sure I’m wrong), but notice how the hooded figure is slightly looking downwards, their chin down. We can’t see what their eyes are focusing on too well (and I might as well be blind), but it’s possible that Elrena is looking down upon Brain (damn it. Or onto the flower...eh...). Maybe she knows that Brain has something to do with her/Lauriam’s sister’s ‘disappearance’.
To add onto the above further, it’s possible that the others do learn of a traitor in their midst. However, they’re all blinded by their own doubts and beliefs, making them face the wrong culprit. Meanwhile Brain faces the other direction and smiles widely (...I just noticed he's the only one with his mouth open), knowing they’ll assume it’s someone other than himself. (And then Elrena kicks his ass. I dunno.)
()()()
And just for fun, the other day (sometime back in filler hell) I scrambled up Brain’s name and got ‘Binar’. I was curious so I looked it up to see if it meant anything or if there was anything at least related. Well, *slides in* it’s possible that it could also mean ‘binary’ (just remove the ‘y’, just like Ephemer with the word ‘ephemeral’). ‘What the fuck does binary have to do with anything???’ you may ask. Heh...so it was recently confirmed that the Keykids are all linked to the data world, and y’all know what codes for data? Binary numbers...binary code to be more precise! (Maybe he has some sort of extra knowledge of the data in the worlds??? Or he could just be in complete control???)
I really dunno what else to add here, since it’s odd, but it may as well be a coincidence that I picked up on by mistake. Maybe we’ll bring this up again another day, once we have more information at our disposal.
()()()
Read up on this.
If you already read my little mess of speculation on nobility at the bottom of that post, then we’re good!
Anyways, if we follow the idea that Brain is the traitor, then what were his motives in the first place? For crying out loud, he really doesn't seem like he gives a shit about the meetings (as seen below).
Tumblr media
Books, huh? Based off of this phrase alone, it's possible that he's looking for something, something related to information and possibly exclusive to the chambers. He's also seen being impatient and hurries to leave once he believes the case is settled, only to be stopped. (Or he just wants to read and avoid social interaction...mood.)
Maybe he wants something more than that. So what is 'nobility'? By definition it's: "the quality of being noble in character, mind, birth, or rank."
I already went over this in the previous post and I brought up that he could be of noble blood, but something most likely went wrong, horribly. Adding to the fact, that his name also means 'son of the judge' and/or 'high/noble'. So why would he have killed Strelitzia off? What could he have gained from that???
*tips hat* I...I'm not too sure either. There's countless possibilities (and we're dealing with Nomura for crying out loud). Besides information, I really don't see what else he can gain.
So how does 'Darkness' fit into this? I'm also not sure either, since we know barely anything of them in the first place. Maybe some undercover...
(I'm too tired and I keep forgetting where I'm trying to go with this...it's driving me nuts.)
()()()
Feel free to add anything, I was kinda in a rush while writing this, so I'm all over the place!

So, the other two members of of Wayward Wind. Black hair would still be the loner type and be somewhat hostile towards the Player, with Ventus being introduced arguing with him. However, he does have a heart of gold and is perfectly willing to challenge a Foreteller to protect Ven, which we'd see in Back Cover. Fortunately that Foreteller is Ava so he doesn't die. He also gets irritated when people crack jokes in serious situations.
Then there's white hair. He's the heart of the trio. He breaks up fights between his two friends whenever they occur, to varying degrees of success. While nice, he does have his limits, and legit threatens to kill the Player if they ever tell anyone about Ven's darkness. He also likes to tease black hair. Whenever Ven starts being rebellious, he'll typically say something like "he gets that from you" to black hair. Might be his way of flirting.
First and second honestly sound like they’d make a really cute ship. Xp (Plus it keeps up the “Ven is a third wheel” joke. XD)
On the subject of first though I feel like he’s a complete tsundere with a side of “Touch my friends and I’ll murder you.” But very much towards the party he’s loyal as hell and wouldn’t let anything hurt any of them.
White hair is open about his love for them and really wants to keep Ven safe in the meantime because the poor boy is a cinnamon roll and needs to be protected from harm.
As, the two of them aren't hypocrites. Despite Vanitas' worries upon reuniting with them, they'd still accept and over protect him and Ven as much as they did back in Daybreak Town. They'd still ground him though. They'd also very much appreciate Terra's willingness to fight Eraqus to protect Ven. I mean, they'd be willing to fight a Foreteller and die as slowly as possible just to keep Ven safe, why wouldn't they admire Ven's protectors?
GOOD SHIT this right here is good shit they’re the over protective siblings (because Terra and Aqua are his parents) Ven never had but now gets to have.
As for Ven's recruitment scene from Back Cover? It would be very tense, if it wasn't from Ava's perspective. The Wayward Winds would misunderstand Ava's intent when she asks for Ven, prompting them to try and get him away from her. Black hair would face her first intending to die as slowly as possible. Once Ava non-lethally subdues him, she runs into white hair, who actually tries to beat her, only for him to get knocked out when she stops pulling her punches. Then she recruits Ven
I’m imagining Wayward Wind must’ve been terrified for Ven. He’s got a Foreteller chasing after him so they must’ve been so worried but it shows how selfless they are and how much they care for Ven and each other in that they were willing to drop everything and stop Ava, even at the risk of their lives. I’d imagine there was a huge fight before one of them was forced to stay behind over which one would go first.
So, bear in mind that Ven would go from about 3 years younger to 2 years older than his party members by the time they have their reunion. Not to mention that he'd also now be two people, both of whom are more powerful than them. We'd have two children trying to overprotect their teenage sons and that is a mildly amusing mental image to me. That and the fact that the situation is even possible in the first place.
All I can say about this is yes. Because yes.
Vanitas would have no sympathy for Eraqus. He'd know that he's only alive because Eraqus isn't. Eraqus would have killed Vanitas for being made of darkness regardless of his moral standing and he knows it. He detests Eraqus as much as he detests Xehanort. This would be a point of contention between him and his family. Strelitzia wouldn't really have an opinion on Eraqus as a person but would tell Terra he was right to defy him in the end.
Agreed. I love my old man masters but I one hundred percent agree to this. There is no way within reason that Vanitas wouldn’t hate both of the old masters. One was the epitome of “Darkness will prevail” and the other is the epitome of “Light will prevail” and seeing as Vanitas would very much be the embodiment of twilight, darkness and light in balance is very important to his arc and survival, and both of them disagreeing with that policy would not only cause him a lot of shit but their treatment of Ven makes it worse.
(I want to note that in my thinking on this that would very much make Ven more an embodiment of Dawn if this is the route you kinda wanna go with which would be interesting since while one is more dark than the other they are also both perfect balances for light and dark which highlights everything in the balance is key that the MMO AU seems to strive for.)
Pretty much the only reason Aqua gives Vanitas a chance is because Ven guilt-trips her into it, pointing out that any Keyblade master from their day (sans Xehanort) would have killed Vanitas on sight, meaning that he didn't really have the chance to be anything BUT evil. And Vanitas would actually have gone to multiple Keyblade Masters for help pre-BBS only for Xehanort and/or his Unversed to have to rescue HIM from the darkness-hating Masters of that day. Hence why there aren't many left.
I mean that doesn’t surprise me. Most of my Vaniqua ideas as a Vaniqua shipper tend to start off with “So Ven convinces Aqua to give Vanitas a chance...” so like...I can definitely understand where that’s coming from. Poor Vanitas and all the masters he would’ve went to. I mean I know Eraqus would’ve probably had him killed on sight but sometimes considering how Vanitas was treated I can’t help but wonder if that would’ve been better.
Okay, out of all the Wayfinder family, I think Vanitas would get along with Strelitzia the most, partially because she never knew him as a villain, only as that cute little cinnamon role in Daybreak Town and her somewhat overprotective Big Brother in the Land of Departure. She would not have run into Vanitas during her quest for revenge. So, there'd be far less tension between them than Vanitas would have with the others.
I agree. Honestly Strelitzia probably adopts him into her created family. (The thing that finally convinces Aqua to warm up to Vanitas is seeing him interacting with Strelitzia. and taking care of her.)
At some point after Lauriam is defeated but before the Player wakes up in Enchanted Dominion, we'd get a cutscene which is basically just Vanitas monologuing on how hatred has kept him going. Hatred of Lauriam, hatred of Ephemer, hatred of Xehanort, and hatred of "the coward [he] used to be" [Ven]. It would then be revealed that the speaker is actually the Vanitas Remnant, about to confront Sora for the first time, vowing to die in the Keyblade War, and bring "Ephemer's lie" down with him.
Speaking of the Remnant, it would only be sentient when close to Sora. Things is because it is a being of pure emotion. However, since Vanitas sleeps in Sora's heart, the Remnant would awaken and act on his will. Needless to say this makes the Remnant difficult to predict. Vanitas would try to use the Remnant to get out of Sora's heart and regain his physical form. Good thing his redemption arc happens DURING KH3 in this AU, otherwise there'd be trouble.
Damn Vanitas Remnant actually sounds kinda terrifying. I can feel him on a lot of that hatred though.
So, "Enter the Darkness" would play during the battle against Ventus in Dwarf Woodlands (unless you think "Enter the Void" is more appropriate), while "Vanitas" would play during the boss fight against the Large Snowman in Beast's Castle at the end of that arc, because "Ventus" is way too melancholy a track for that boss fight and he and Vanitas WERE the same person back then, so it works. But still, I did get some more ideas for that arc.
Nah, Enter the Void sounds fine. And agreed, Ven’s theme would be way to melancholy for any fight in KHUx sans maybe the Darklings.
Okay so, you know how in the canon game the white-haired Keyblade Wielder in the "Friend or Rival" arc is injured by the Large Snowman offscreen? We'd actually see it happen in the MMO AU. Black Hair (working name) would have simply been trying to distract it so Ven could escape, while White Hair would realize that Ven wouldn't flee until the Heartless was defeated and so would basically try to defeat it so Ven would listen to them, only to get taken down (but not out) in one hit.
So, that would basically be where the Player comes in, Black Hair would take White Hair back to Daybreak Town while the Player and Ven fight the Huge Snowman (turns out the Large Snowman was an event Heartless in the original game) together. Ven deals Speed Type Damage while the Huge Snowman would be a Magic Type enemy. After defeating it, the next Story Quest would be to talk to Ven in Daybreak Town. Talking to him would trigger a cutscene where he takes you to see White Hair. Cue wrap up.
So yeah, there we'd get the big heartwarming scene where Ven would learn his party members had known about his darkness since the day they basically adopted him, just like what was established before. I just wanted to give you my newer idea for how things would go down. Also, Ven's attack as a boss would be based off his original Attack Medal, meaning he'd deal 4 hits, inflicting more damage the lower his HP is. Just figured that would work.
Honestly this would be super cute and a great way to wrap up the entire arc for the trio. Also on that note Ven using the same attack as his medal would be a great way to foreshadow that BBS!Ven and Ux!Ven are the same person since I’d like to think initially that would be very ambiguous.
So, in the MMO AU, most Keykids' Keyblades materialize when they're 10. Ven's materialized prematurely when he was 7, the night his parents discovered his darkness and tried to drown him. They lived the rest of their lives unaware that Ven was saved by 2 children who saw a beam of light from the water. As for how the Wayward Winds found out? Ven used the darkness unconsciously one night when he had a nightmare about getting dragged under water.
Damn, Ven’s had a really rough life. I want to fight his parents and I’m honestly glad that the Wayward Winds didn’t have a bad reaction when they found out about all this.

Note
So, while most of the Norts in the MMO AU follow the rule of "personality traits through the filter of Xehanort", Terra-Xehanort would be different, due to Terra/Eraqus and Xehanort constantly struggling for control. That, combined with his amnesia, would result in Terranort developing a split personality. One is how Terra views Xehanort, which would later become Ansem, and the other how Xehanort views Terra, which would later become Xemnas. Extracting Terra's heart wouldn't fix this.
...Which would explain why neither Ansem SoD or Xemnas aren’t a lot like Xehanort at all. I’d imagine it must’ve driven Xigbar crazy though. (Good.)
So, what keeps the Dandelions from being total gamebreakers once they're freed is that they are, for the most part, pacifists. This means that they'd just serve the in-universe explanation for where the other players in Multiplayer come from, unless there is an in-universe explanation for them to be more involved in the plot. Additionally, I imagine most of them would hang up their Keyblades to live normal lives after being freed. And to be frank, I wouldn't blame them.
I wouldn’t either given all that the MMO AU puts them through.
As for the Keykids running the Ice Cream shop, they'd both be Dandelions due to being from different Unions and not wanting to have to fight each other. They would not wear their ice cream uniforms at the Dandelion meetings, since they're not on the job, and the ice cream is more of a hobby. They would both wield Sweetstack though, even when off the job. All the Sweetstack Materials would be Ice Cream ingredients. Strelitzia and Mog were their favorite customers.
As for how the fact that they're siblings would be revealed? After you ask them about Ven's whereabouts (which wouldn't be easy seeing as they change what World their located in every day), Black Hair would remark on how surprising it is that they get along despite being in different Unions, while White Hair would bring up that they're twins. Cue the flood of angsty oneshots about them fighting and killing eachother in the Keyblade War until they're revealed to be Dandelions.
As for why they're running an ice cream stand? It was the family business, and they both want to keep their family's legacy arrive. They open up the shop whenever they both fill their Daily Quotas. And I just now realized that I accidentally created two OCs with a cute yet angsty backstory while trying to come up with an excuse for Sweetstack to be in the MMO AU. Although I kinda wish I knew how to draw because I just realized my imagined uniforms for them aren't in the canon game.
Ice cream twins you’ve got me sold I am now invested in these characters.
As for where the Ice Cream Vendors would run their shops on what day? Dwarf Woodlands outside the mines on Monday, Wonderland by the White Rabbit's house on Tuesday, Agrabah's Bizarre on Wednesday, Olympus Coliseum by the stands on Thursday (In the Underworld near the entrance in October), Beast's Castle in the Courtyard on Friday, and Daybreak Town in the park on the Weekend. They'd sell ice cream to the spectators during your matches in Olympus Coliseum, just to give the tournament more flavor
Can we buy ice cream while we watch matches or is it just the NPCs and they’re just there to add more character to the Olympus Coliseum stands and as a cute Easter Egg.
You know, after COM put forth the idea that death was the best possible ending for Repliku and that beings like himself could never be happy because they're not real people, I'm REALLY glad that the future games that remember he existed treated his demise as something tragic and not some kind of "mercy kill". His death always made me so mad because it was ultimately POINTLESS to the plot and a great example of a WASTED character. There's a reason I NEVER go down the same route canon did with him
That’s because it wasn’t really a mercy kill. Repliku shouldn’t have existed, it’s true, but once he did he also didn’t really deserve to die. He deserved a better life than the one he got, and its why the fact that he had to face Riku and die all the more tragic.
You know what, can we just have an AU where Namine stops Riku and his Replica from fighting to the death so that Repliku has the chance to be his own person and go on a journey of self discovery? Although I feel like he'd be relieved if Riku got a Keyblade and he didn't just because that would be one difference between them both. He'd probably also style his hair differently from Riku as part of that "forging my own identity" thing. It would be difficult and painful, but at least he'd be alive.
So I don’t quite have that at my disposal, but:
How do you feel about a 500+ chapter AU in which we get to see Repliku saved on the brink of death and shoved into a completely new universe where he is the only Riku? Because I can supply that for you it’s basically the starting point of one of my favorite fics.
Okay so, in KH3, while Roxas would have grown alongside Sora, Ven would not have aged a day while he was in the Chamber of Waking. This means that Roxas would look older than Ven. Vanitas would also look younger than Sora, due to not aging while his Remnant survived through sheer force of hate. Poor Ven, he's ancient but looks younger than the 3 year old.
This is one of the most hilarious things I have ever heard rip Ven.
I imagine Back Cover would be where all the vitriol that was once directed at Brain would then be redirected at Lauriam. Because once you see a 14-15 year old flashback to how he lost his sight and friends just days after the fact, and witnessed someone murder their closest friend, it's kinda hard to not rethink things like that.
I mean all my hatred towards Blaine if I had any would be immediately redirected towards Lauriam once Strelitzia is dead so I don’t even think I’d need Back Cover to hate him, assuming she’s revealed before Back Cover releases at least.
Laurie would lie about Aced killing Strelitzia before 2.8 released. In Back Cover, the famous Case of Luxury scene would be shown when Ava asks Luxu if he's the traitor, and cut back with the implication that he told Ava what the Master told him. The fun-sized Chirithy Ava squeed over was totally Nightmare Chirithy. Invi and Ira would be fighting during Ava's confrontation we Luxu.
Hey Lauriam don’t blame my son for my daughter’s demise.
Anyways, I’d like that transition more. Tbh I kinda wish we did get to see the Keyblade War unfold. It’s one of the only things I don’t like about BC is that it doesn’t follow X to its conclusion.
Okay so, in the MORNING AU, I imagine that the Mango could continue past KH2 depending on why the Manga ends there. As such there would be a Manga Adaptation AND Novelization of KHX. The novelization would have the default male protagonist, while the Manga would have the default female protagonist, and have her be part of Anguis. They'd also be characterized differently, the novel protagonist being more timid and the Manga protagonist being more snarky.
So yeah, the protagonist of the Manga would have Lauriam and the Keyblade Wielders from the Neoshadow Arc as party members until the Neoshadow Trio become Darklings. She'd leave the party after Lauriam blames her for what happened to their three party members. The Novel protagonist MIGHT be an Ursus Wielder, not sure yet. Aced would terrify both of them, since neither could defeat Ava when she was holding back, and Aced would actually be trying to kill them.
SNARKY FEMALE MANGA PROTAGONIST I AM ALL FOR THIS SHIT.
If they’re part of Ursus, I doubt they’d be afraid of Ursus. If you ask me, I think novel protag should be a member of Leopardus though. Creates good contrast versus Ava, and could create a lot of interesting arcs.
Both would have Medals in the "Toon Medal" deal. The Manga protagonist would have a Power-type Medal while the Novel protagonist would have a Speed-type Medal. The first time we hear either say their names would be when Ephemer is introduced. Neither protagonist would talk much, though the Manga protagonist's thoughts would serve as narration. The first time the Manga protagonist speaks would be to tell off Lauriam at the end of the Neoshadow arc before leaving his Party.
So, the Novel and Manga protagonists would both have Medals in the "Toon Medals" deal. The Manga protagonist would have a Power Medal while the Novel Protagonist would have a Speed Medal (if in Ursus) or a Magic Medal (if in Leopardos), in accordance with the idea that all the Keykids are the type that their Foretellers are strong against. They'd be the closest thing we'd have to Medals based off the Player, though both would be treated as distinct characters.
I think there should be a KHUx Toon Medal deal later on actually, where you can get Player and the five Foretellers, since in Ux they’re dead and could be used as medals.
So, MMO AU 0.2 would be virtually unchanged, save for the more intense version of "The End of a World" cutscene that I'm already forming a new idea for in my head, but that's a story for another day. But there would be one other change. You'd actually be able to see what abilities Aqua has on the difficulty you're playing on. Aqua'd have Treasure Magnet on both Beginner and she and Mickey'd both have it on Critical. There still wouldn't be prize drops in Critical, it's only there to taunt you.
...Wow, that’s cruel. Good thing I don’t play Critical because I’d cry I think.
So, in the MMO AU, starting up Back Cover in 2.8 would play a "spinning heart scene" like in the game. Unlike the games, the little screens would depict moments from past Kingdom Hearts games instead of moments from Back Cover. The music that plays over the spinning heart would be "Ventus". The credits themes would be "Case of Foretellers" and "Cavern of Remembrance". I'd probably keep the cutesy recap opening, just without the annoyingly formatted text layover. That was just BAD.
Actually maybe "The Dream" would be more appropriate than "Ventus". Anyway as for how I'd change "The End of a World" from my original idea would be to have the Keyblade Graveyard get absorbed by Kingdom Hearts. THEN Kingdom Hearts explodes, vaporizing the entire universe save for Luxu who survives by hiding out in the Realm of Darkness before Kingdom Hearts can absorb him. I mean, escaping from that to fulfill his role would be kinda difficult.
Honestly please change the entire intro. Maybe keep some of it but that intro could’ve been done so much better than they actually did.
Wow, honestly poor Luxu. Hiding in the RoD to survive doesn’t sound like it’d be fun.
So, I've lost track of what all I've sent you over the past couple of weeks, but I did have one idea that could be cool: imagine if there had been a movie based off the fall of Radiant Garden. I imagine that Xehanort would start out as the main antagonist until he splits between Ansem and Xemnas, at which point one of them would take over the role. I don't actually have as many ideas here as I do for the MMO part of the MMO AU.
I don’t need as many ideas make it a full length movie collaboration between Disney and Squeenix and I’m sold.
So, Sora would be conspicuously absent during Strelitzia's solo game as well as during the Epilogue DLC is that for the final phase of the final battle against Xehanort, Sora would trap himself and Xehanort within Kingdom Hearts. While the final clash would only be about as long as the battle against Xemnas' final form, outside of Kingdom Hearts, an entire year would pass during that duel. Fortunately, Sora would escape as soon as Xehanort is defeated, unscathed save for losing his powers again.
Damn...Poor RIku and Kairi. THey’d probably be searching for ways to rescue Sora the entire time instead of doing anything involving the other characters.
I kinda can't help but notice something mildly amusing about the MMO version of Back Cover. Mickey Mouse (or rather, a holographic double of him) is basically a herald of the apocalypse. I mean, his appearance is what tells the Foretellers that the people in the Book of Prophecy's Holo Worlds can leak out into the real world, explaining where the Heartless came from. Lauriam and Ventus just confuse them, because they KNOW they're not holograms.
GUYS THE WORLD IS ENDING CAN’T YOU TELL IT’S BECAUSE OF MICKEY FREAKING MOUSE. XD
So yeah, Invi basically accuses each of the other 4 Foretellers of being the traitor throughout MMO!BC. First she accuses Aced when he tries to kill her for talking Gula out of their alliance. Then she assumes it's Gula upon learning that Ira thinks that's the case. Then she accuses Ava upon learning about the Dandelions. Then, upon learning of Aced's true role, decides that IRA must be the traitor. The fact that Ira intends to wipe out everyone who fights in the Keyblade War doesn't help.
Okay so, Invi is kinda like Aqua in her devotion to the MoM, save for the fact that she LITERALLY worships him. That's kind of why her last words implied she was okay with the World ending, she had pieced together that the MoM WANTED the apocalypse to happen, and who is she to defy his will? The MoM is, amused by her worship of him, and he probably could have told her his true goals without her lifting a finger to stop him. It's Ava he's worried about.
So yeah, the reason he's so uncharacteristically serious around Ava is because he needs her to get Ven and Lauriam into the Unchained State. He needs Xehanort's plans to end a specific way in order for his eye that he placed in his Keyblade to end up in Kingdom Hearts, while Xehanort needs to drop Ventus off at the Land of Departure to notice the darkness in Terra's heart. Ava and factors he knows he can't control (the Gazing Eye doesn't see everything), could make everything fall apart
You know given how Invi was meant to invoke appearances related to Aqua with color scheme the fact that she parallels Aqua is really fitting.
Him being super serious around Ava makes sense if she’s the biggest threat though. Taking her more seriously means she’s less likely to mess things up for him.

1. So uh, even if I enjoy playing UX, I do agree that it should not have been made the way it is. Personally, I would have made it an actual MMO, kept it on PC, and instead of the cutesy storybook art style, use something closer to the main series. Maybe it would be in the same engine as FFIV or something. But aside from that, there are some changes to the gameplay I'd make to compensate for this. The battle system would be similar to the system present in Union Cross quests, but mixed with-
2.-something like the Battle Systems from games like Toontown Online or Wizard 101. Basically, if a player and enemy (such as a Heartless) collide, a battle would start. If another player or enemy enters the battlefield, they'll automatically join the appropriate side. Up to 7 players can face up to 13 enemies. Otherwise, the battle system would be identical to UX, cycling through equipped medals while attacking. Additionally, the game would have little "portals" scattered around the worlds.-
3. The portals would be as follows: Gateways (identical to Savepoints), where the Player can access the shop, Avatar Boards, Event Boards, and upgrade their Keyblades or customize their look. Raid Boss Portals (pools of darkness on the ground), that spawn at the player's feet, up to 7 may enter at a time. Story Portals (red savepoints with a floating Heartless Emblem), where important battles (and boss fights) occur. They're basically the dungeons of the game, with a team of up to 7 players-
4.-may enter a special "instance" cut off from the rest of the server. They are unlocked as the player completes story quests and must be cleared to further the story. Keyblade Portals (blue savepoints with the iconic Key symbol), which the player can only enter with a specific Keyblade to earn synthesis materials, otherwise identical to Story Portals. Exp Portals (cyan savepoints with the heart symbol) where the player can earn EXP and Evolve Medals by defeating all the enemies.-
5. Event Portals (white savepoints with the Hidden Mickey symbol) which are basically where the special bosses and battles of event quests would be hidden to keep low level players from encountering Kurt Zisa level enemies when they're fresh out of the tutorial. The Coliseum Portal (yellow savepoint in the middle of the arena at Olympus Coliseum, with crossed swords floating above it), where the player can climb the ranks of the latest tournament, alone.-
6. And last but not least would be Corridors of Darkness (identical to how they looked in Days, basically two black wisps circling around each other). Utilizing one would drop a player in a random point in the Dark Realm, where Raid Boss Heartless roam free. The player would only be able to remain their until they run out of Light Points, at which point they'll be forcefully returned to the last Gateway they passed before entering the Dark Realm. Aside from that, there'd be some tweaks to the-
7. -story. They'd be basic enough, Strelitzia passing by the player and trying to talk to them only for something to stop her would be a running gag as soon as Ephemer's introductory arc was done, Blaine would be the Keyblade Wielder from another Union that we fight alongside in Beast's Castle, and we'd occasionally get scenes of the Foretellers interacting with each other so that the game isn't just the Ava Show. Aside from that, AP would be spent instead of Jewels to revive on the spot, and-
8. -quests would work differently as well (such as being based on the Overworld and Portals), but I think I've sent you enough asks for one day and will only elaborate if you ask for more details. But still, that's just me what-ifing. Who knows, maybe some borderline psychotic fans will try to create a traditional MMO set in the X-era to replace KHUX once the service is discontinued.
Wow anon you have a lot of thoughts on this. (And I would totally be okay with seeing more.)
Tbh I would love to see some dedicated fans actually make something to replace KHUx because I love the game and would play something a la Toontown online keeping it alive.
Anyways, I think gameplay would be best if kept like an MMO but if the story worked more in the way of the original JP game. I didn’t really play a lot of it but from what I remember the missions were a lot longer rather than the really short missions of KHUx. I think doing something along the lines of longer missions where you could join up with a member and fling the medals while partnered up with a few people. But I also think that mission gameplay would have to be the main difference. I’ve played both Toontown Online and W101 and the collect an item quests make up a lot of their gameplay and they’re not fun quests because it relies on luck. If KHUx was an MMO, it’d have to be more “Roam Daybreak Town, go to mission point where you can go in alone or with party members.” It’d also be real neat in general to be able to see friends in other unions and do competitions with them and occasionally missions together so long as in the end, you’re not quite allies for all missions.
I’d also love story changes like that, little things so we can see Strelitzia and Blaine and Ven and Lauriam before they go to the unchained part. It’d be really neat if it combined the original X and the new Ux so we don’t get the awkward story transition as well.
Portal idea mostly sounds like the menu, but that’d make sense off of Daybreak Town with portals maybe in the plaza with the fountain.

Yeah, and I'd actually expand on Back Cover a bit. For one, it would be three hours long, and we'd have the scene of the Foretellers debating the intellect of tempting fate by encouraging mistrust between the Unions when a WAR was Foretold, plus the Power Bangles getting distributed and Ira jumping the gun by asking who made the demon Chirithy. Following that, Ira's character arc would be based on trying to get the others to stop fighting and watching everything fall apart, Invi and Gula would-
-would go on a traitor hunt, separately of course, with Gula eventually getting accused of being the traitor himself and getting forced into hiding while Invi eventually corners the Nightmare Chirithy, only to quickly get overwhelmed by a legion of Darklings. Ava’s plot would, more or less, consist of her recruiting the Dandelion leaders: Ephemer, Skuld, Ventus, Blaine, and Strelitzia. We’d also get Lauriam stalking the Dandelions and, earning Strelitzia’s misplaced trust. As for Ava vs Luxu?-
-We’d actually see Ava confronting him, meaning the iconic scene would actually be voice acted. As would Strelitzia’s death scene, which would be the last thing we’d see before the credits. It would actually be shot from her perspective, starting from her scanning the room (and you’d be able to see Lauriam’s shadow if you look closely), and, when she turns around, there’d be footsteps, the sound of a Keyblade getting summoned, and Divine Rose would materialize in such a way to make it clear she-
-I forgot where I left off, but suffice to say that if you could see Strelitzia and Lauriam, you would be able to see that Lauriam had stabbed his supposed friend in the back. Strelitzia would black out for a few seconds, but open her eyes to see her Chirithy wounded as Lauriam’s silhouette picks up her rule book and walks out of the warehouse. Cue Strelitzia’s death scene from her point of view, with a smash to credits. We’d have the Case of Luxu scene in the post credits, of course, but still.
…Listen three hour long backcover I’d kill for more time with the Foretellers and more expansion of their dynamics I love all of them.
Ira working hard to keep things from falling apart after he started all this by bringing up the traitor in the first place would honestly be so good. Because then he could be like “I shouldn’t have done that, I fucked up, now I gotta fix this before we fall apart and I cause the Keyblade War” except obviously that’s not how it ends up going because the war’s gotta happen but I want to see Ira realize his actions of bringing up the traitor instead of just bringing up the Nightmare Chirithy were not good.
Invi fighting Nightmare Chirithy and that being her final stand before the conversation with Ava and she realizes the only option she has is to keep gathering more Lux would just be a really good scene. I’d love to have something like that happen at least. And poor Gula he deserves so much better than being the assumed traitor because he’s working so hard to find them. ;w;
AVA AND STRELITZIA TALKING AND STRELITZIA IN THE HD BACKCOVER GRAPHICS LISTEN I AM ALL FOR THAT! Aaaanyways, yes. Yes please. I want all that though tbh I think Backcover should end with the five Unchained union leaders meeting. Not the extra scenes like the one we just got in NAUx a couple weeks ago (the one with Chirithy) but like the ones where they’re all gathering in the Keyblade Graveyard should be when it ends, just to show the build up. But also dude I would love to see the Ava versus Luxu scene voice acted, we don’t even get it in Ux since I think it was only X exclusive so like…the only way we’d get to see it would be in a Backcover movie.
Granted ending it with Lauriam stabbing Strelitzia is also a good breaking point because like…you can basically tell who did it (and if they still want to obscure it they could use slight hints like you said with the Divine Rose Keyblade and silhouettes but I just really want to see all my kids interacting together in one scene (except Strelitzia but hey I already know she’s not gonna get to talk to them anytime soon anyways.)
(P.S. Do you write Anon because honestly I would love to see your ideas for more content in the backcover movie (and some of the changes/additions in general) in fic form or something, either as one shots, or an actual fanfic, or just as whatever form of media you want to use, because most of them sound real interesting.)
